Im 14 now and I love Run-Dmc but knew that they stopped doing music. I figured one of there members died and I was right when I looked it up not to long ago. Jam master Jay died the night before Halloween in 2002 and I looked back to remember when I was 6th I almost clearly remember Halloween. One hell of a night but I was so Naive of who he was back then, and I'm just finding this out now. It's weird to think about the fact that he died before the one night I remembered when I was 6.
Man where has 8 years gone? SMH. It was a pleasure meeting my then label mate in the lobby of Profile records when I was deejaying for Twin Hype. RIP my brotha

a legend. ;im a metalhead. a headbanger. i LOVE Jay. he was a pioneer. I miss him terribly. you were a great man Jay. thanks for the music. you will live on FOREVER!
jam Master J fought to keep his possessions from an armed burglar and lost his life in the process, all I was saying was worldly possessions aren't worth dying for. Now if you can't understand that all I can say is.....STICKEM' UP PUNK AND GIMME YOUR WALLET......lol
He got it right mostly god bless the dead, but I must correct him. Back in the days in Queens at the Fantasia, and the park jams at Is8, lincoln park, baisley park, 40 park, The disco twins, Infinity machine, cipher sounds you to spin disco. where do you thing the name disco twins came from? So he shouldn't have said that the youth wasn't rockin to disco. He named commodores, that was disco. Rip Jay, and I knew him personally from Hollis. your man Tone!
can't believe dudes are sittin in the back chillin when jam master jay is in the front of the classroom. lol. i would be front and center pushing people out of the way, lol.
Great video, thanks for posting. Thank you Jason for all you have done for Hip Hop culture. Jam Master Jay, a true pioneer and Icon in this game. May you Rest In Peace.
I'll never forget the day after his SENSELESS death. When I saw the tears on the faces of all the children who attended school with his kids, as they were being dismissed from school, holding on to each other as they cried.
When I saw his widow a few months later (on a happy occasion), we just talked about our kids, one mom to another. Had I said anything about JMJ (I knew him as "Mr. Mizell", but, of course I knew who he was) I just KNOW I would have burst into tears.
I was honored to be at this actual lecture in 1998 in Sydney.. This was the final push I needed to move to New York, to be immersed in Hip Hop culture!
A few months later, I was gettin on the J train in Brooklyn and I bumped into Jay, and he said Hi in passing, like he remembered my face! What an honor!!
one of da tru originators of rap man. He represents what true rap is. Rap as an artform and an expression of emotion and dedication, not a way to cash in a cheap buck and just try to get famous. Wish we could have the good old days of hip-hop and 8 minute long jam sessions with a 4 minute turntable solo GrandMaster Flash style you know what i mean! But i guess money talks right? Keep spinning them tables wherever you are man! R.I.P. JAM MASTER JAY
