Back in the days in Queens at the Fantasia, and the park jams at Is8, lincoln park, baisley park, 40 park, The disco twins, Infinity machine, cipher sounds you to spin disco. where do you thing the name disco twins came from? So he shouldn't have said that the youth wasn't rockin to disco. He named commodores, that was disco. Rip Jay, and I knew him personally from Hollis. your man Tone!

  • cjo522 cool story dude

  • Rest in Peace ...great Jay

  • I'll never forget the day after his SENSELESS death. When I saw the tears on the faces of all the children who attended school with his kids, as they were being dismissed from school, holding on to each other as they cried.

When I saw his widow a few months later (on a happy occasion), we just talked about our kids, one mom to another. Had I said anything about JMJ (I knew him as "Mr. Mizell", but, of course I knew who he was) I just KNOW I would have burst into tears.

  • I was honored to be at this actual lecture in 1998 in Sydney.. This was the final push I needed to move to New York, to be immersed in Hip Hop culture!

A few months later, I was gettin on the J train in Brooklyn and I bumped into Jay, and he said Hi in passing, like he remembered my face! What an honor!!

    R.I.P.

  • one of da tru originators of rap man. He represents what true rap is. Rap as an artform and an expression of emotion and dedication, not a way to cash in a cheap buck and just try to get famous. Wish we could have the good old days of hip-hop and 8 minute long jam sessions with a 4 minute turntable solo GrandMaster Flash style you know what i mean! But i guess money talks right? Keep spinning them tables wherever you are man! R.I.P. JAM MASTER JAY

  • he was such a nice guy,why the fuck they killed him!???????

  • JMJ is a pioneer of Hip Hop along with Grandmaster Flash + Jazzy Jeff, they are the ones who changed Djing for ever.

  • Notice the responses, or rather, lack there of, on this piece. Where are they? Oh I'm sorry, whenever there's something about "Real" Hip-Hop being displayed, all these young morons, who profess to love it disappear. I guess what Phonte from Little Brotha said is true of todays youth...Real hip hop IS too intelligent for them...
