  • I have never seen a guitar player move that much during a song. If you harvested all the energy from The Who during a single concert, we wouldn't need fossile fuels.

  • Thank God....no "Vevo".

  • This show and this performance is utterly amazing. Just fucking incredible. If I were there in the audience that day, I would have shit myself.

  • i thought this was '73?? another dude posted this same video as '73??

  • 8:08 KEITH MOON!

  • Double windmill at 4:35.

  • This version still gives me chills after listening to it all these years. I love Keith's drumming.

  • keith looks sound as a pound, hard to belive he croaked it 4 months later

  • Holy shit? Or doesn't that cut it?

  • Poor Moonie. He was playing so badly by this stage.

  • @AndJusticeForMe

I'm afraid you know little about playing drums. Keith sounds great at this gig! The only difference was that he was sober, for the first time in many years. I was with them for most tours after 1976, and Keith sounded just fine. Better than when he drank and got high. He keeps tight time, great floor bass control, works great with John, what is your complaint, exactly?

  • I want to hear the original drums for this video. I heard they had to dub over them because keith messed up so many times. poor keith :(

  • @keckstudios

Yeah, Keith was pretty much dying when this was filmed :(

    What a loss...

  • @ludehead

"ludehead" Nice username. I think that says it all about your credibility right there. Keith was anything but dying at Shepperton. He was sober for the first time, well, since I knew him, he was together with Annette, he felt GREAT, Pete thought he was at the top of his game, whatever made you think he was "dying". Do you even know how he died? The tragedy of Keith's death is that it came just when he was finally drying out, had his life working, and sounded the best he had in years.

  • @keckstudios

Precisely who did you "hear" that from? This is NOT a dub, you can tell just by watching it. Keith never sounded better than he did in '77-'78, right before his death. I was at almost every gig they did back then. There's a LOT of misinformation on this site, man.

  • 0:33 Daltrey will always and ONLY be the person who can do that.

  • One thing about the Who -- nobody sounds like the Who. They have a unique sound. Beat that you muthus.

  • the year is actually 1977

  • no, you're likely thinking of the similar concert they staged in Kilburn

  • @leaffan27

Correct. Kilburn was 1977, Shepperton was 1978, and Kilburn was by far the more important gig because it was before an invited audience of major players in the British record biz, and they sounded better at Kilburn. Pete was happier with that gig. I was on the tours for both shows. Watched 'em from stage left with Pete's guitar tech Alan Rogan.

  • @123rockdrummer - Yeah its actually Keiths last show with The Who, May 25th 1978.

  • i get the chills when he yells yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

  • the power slide heard around the world!!!

  • This is the greatest stage band in rock 'n roll history at their absolute peak: Keith still alive and on the wagon (sober), in their early 30s, all healthy and at their creative best. It's performances like this that put them ahead of Led Zep, the Stones, Springsteen, anybody as a live stage band. The Who had to be experienced live to fully understand how dynamic and masterful they were. If you EVER saw them live, especially around this point in their careers, you never forgot it, I guarantee.

  • Hell NO. The Who are great but Led Zeppelin has them beat. The Stones do too. I'll give you Springsteen.

  • @DefMode66

well, i'f we talk about live performances we also have hendrix, cream, the stones especially during their stint with taylor, yeah, but from 75 onwards page got sloppy, too much coke, but just from the greatest band point of view the best are still the beatles.

  • I only feel pity for those too young to have never experienced the Who live.....from Hendrix to Springsteen -I'veseen 'em all...Seeing the Who live when it all works like the clip above is rock nirvana ! It is the only reason for living !!!!! No one can match the Who on stage to this very day...That my friend is Rock and Roll .....Heggs has Spoken

  • Ladies and Gentleman.... The Who!

  • i love this song,i realy do.

  • goosebumps @ 7:50!!!!!

    PURE ENERGY!!!!!!!!

  • Had exactly the same feeling!

  • one of the greatest moments in rock history? every time i see it i'm in awe

  • POWER SLIDE !!!

  • one of the greatest rock song ever ... ENERGY !!!!

  • oye este es el video que aparece en el dvd The Who The kids are allright,
