I got your back on that comment refering to(2:41)..didn't know then when I was fuck up on all kinds of shit and don't know now that I am supposed to be sober !!!!!
For me thie chill in this song is the laugh "Uh ha ha heh...don't push me..." says it all...cold statement on where our society was...and is going even now. Sad sad place.
Who could forget this pulsating, catchy opening riff? Destined to find its way in future rap samples. This song is indeed a "message" ... a compelling report and observation about those living in communities feeling frustrated and unheard. The city itself, while a beacon of opportunity, can in turn be a trap for many. This is an educational masterpiece that just keeps growing in intensity. Still holds up today against any artist. All members rap effectively with charisma. Unforgettable. A+!
Damn right Bro´!You got that record set straight right there with the right words!I truly hope those kids out there pick up on those realities ´stead o´concentratin´on blind image´n money.Grand master Flash and his furious 5 nailed it just as they came along.Rap´n hip hop should evolve in new messages, cultural and politicaly, with in yo face vids, serving the purpose, and the people would take it serious again. Thanks for the intelligent comment!
Thanks 4 the feedback. U put it well nicely. The 'blind image' focus (money) is more of what you hear these days and, as a result, more of what causes people to criticize hip-hop in general, which is unfair/disappointing because it ignores the relevance it could (and should represent) 4 society at large. Definitely, as U put it, 'new messages' are needed to get us all 2 listen, pay attention&hopefully learn from. But, I'm thankful hip-hip acts like this exist 2 continuously enjoy. Best wishes!
Dont push me!yeeaah oldschool will never die!!this is the beginning of rap around the world, hehheheh!!cause i am close to the h hehehehe!!peace to all the hip hop yunks on the world!!
This track was made at the right time when you listen to it, but was ahead of it's time too.
I'll always remember this being the first rap song my mother actually like and played over and over. That meant alot to me back then especially considering my mother didn't care for hip hop back then.
nothing ever will compare to old school rap!!!!!! it is the bomb for real. Ah those school days in the 80's at the disco's watching all the rappers while they were playing the best beats ever!!!!!!! old school rules 4 eva!!!!

Blind to the ways of mankind God is smiling on you but he's frowning too Cause only God knows what you go through You grow in the ghetto, living second rate And your eyes will sing a song of deep hate The places you play and where you stay Looks like one great big alley way Youll admire all the number book takers Thugs, pimps, pushers and the big money makers Driving big cars, spending twenties and tens And you wanna grow up to be just like them..."
Current blingbling gangsta rap panders to a white audience. Rappers know which side their bread is buttered on and prolong anti-black prejudice with their negative lyrics which confirm white's perception of blacks as rapists and crackheads.
The majority of hiphop is bought by white kids. Blacks should stop pandering to them, stop chasing the white dollar and instead go back to old skool poetry: Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash. Rap about something real, something that matters to us.
AMEN! Public Enemy said it all...respect your women, train your mind, realize the truth. Now some fool stands up and tells us how he beat to death somebody who dissed his pinky ring, tell me somthing how do we measure the sanity of a society?
A great song - too bad only a little of the new rap is like this, and it's not mainstream. Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five were great - just listen to the lyrics - they actually say something.
this is GOOD RAP. i'm not a hate rap, but this is the REAL stuff. not fucking 50 cent, or puff daddy. the only rapper i can apprciate lately is kanye west
