  • @JetJock410 For those of you who liked this moron's comment you must be ignorant. Wake turbulence is way beyond severe. Just think if the pilot didn't take evasive maneuvers on the encounter. Overrunning the runway? Clipping a portion of the wing? Popping a tire?

  • nice vid... yeah, looks like the pilot was a lil busy towards the end there... don't wanna land long at LGA or you'll wind up in the drink...

thx for the post... glad you didn't get wet :)

    --Mike

  • wow wing almost hit ground and it landed on the go around marker on the runway!

  • That is some nice flying there

  • Very nice I love windy landings :)

  • I can imagine what the pilot looks likes fighting that yoke

  • @myrandomspaces LOL... Awesome comment!

  • Great landing!!!

  • damn great job pilot.

  • what airline was this??

  • @gleeisdabest USAir

  • Could you have maint. check, passenger reports wobbies.

  • the pilot's got nerves of steel

  • Great job pilot

  • This really wasn't that scary. I had a pilot scrape a wing on a landing before. Talk about shit your pants... Then he slammed the throttle and took off again. This old black lady next to me dug her claws into my arm and started praying out loud.... That was not the way I wanted to die.

  • Was flying back home to Toronto for Christmas on the eve of it a couple of years ago and it was really stormy with lots of snow coming down too. Strong cross winds close to the ground, at one point, a few seconds before the touchdown, the plane was at such an angle that I could almost partially see down the runway :/... and lots of wobbling going on too, but a very soft touchdown none the less! Pilots did an awesome job, made it fun in a way! :P Wish I can get my flying license too someday!

  • Two words: GOOD SAVE!

  • that was a wonderful touchdown from start to finish

  • Any landing you can walk away from is an awesome landing....... (;-)

  • this was an example of perfect landing. Where did you see wobbly ?

  • 1:10 fuckyea

  • Oh the humanity!

  • I think anyone who gets scared by landings like these (and it's reasonable to if you're not in the know about flying) might be comforted if they could see the pilot - just sitting there calmly landing the plane, doing their job, like any other landing.

  • Great landing, bro.

  • That was not to bad.

  • PERFECT LANDING !!

  • Are you kidding, this pilot did a great job, a nice landing and very good control in lieu of the wake turbulence he/she encountered. Having flown into LGA a bit, this is somewhat common. Severe iss when people get injured and gear gets broken!

  • @s9523pink

Am i kidding about what?? The pilot did do a great job, never said he didnt. Only said that it was scary. If you dont agree, then good for you. Severe, IS when people get injured..but if you read correctly, i never said anything about it being severe, only you did....It was scary to me and others around me.

  • @kindjordan You're right, you didn' say severe, but scary is an overstatement, you must not fly alot, cause you haven't seen scary.

  • @s9523pink

Scary is an adjective that I used to describe my opinion of a situation I encountered . Its ok you dont think its scary. Thanks for your opinon!

  • @s9523pink Yea Seriously. Ive seen worse. This poilot did an excellent job! Try coming to Minneapolis during one of our bad winter storms when visability drops to 1/4th of a mile! Thats a bit nerve raking but scary to me is when something very bad happens like an engine failure or something that would almost kill people.

  • @bobac1083 My response may seem arrogant but is trully far from it, I have been an airline pilot for some time and before that, flew both dual and single pilot freight...oh and I have been into Minny on those low visibility winter days at the front end doing the approach! Oh I have seen scarey!!

  • @s9523pink

No at all. I totally respect that you are a pilot and you know what you are talking about. I'm certain that most peoples definition of scary is very different than mine. I'm afraid of roller coasters. With that said, I still think this landing was scary from inside the cabin and id be interested to see how close the wingtip came to the deck!

  • @s9523pink Ive seen scary too. I fly with my uncle in his AC 11 Commander (which he just bought last year) but before that he was renting along with everybody else at his airport. He had to do some normal test and get out of bad situations like stalling. He just had to take me in his Piper Cherokkee and stall it. Man did i get airsick from that.

  • @s9523pink Fuck you and stop trying to sound smart.

  • @s9523pink asshole

  • Absolutely nothing wrong with this landing. Good job by flying pilot.

  • there was nothing wrong with that touchdown, you want a bad landing fly a rj into memphis see how many times you skip

  • wwwooooowwwww!

  • @JetJock410

Thanks for reassuring everyone regarding the lack of severity of this landing!

  • I wonder if the fact the 757 does not have the inboard (tab) aileron (which is actually a high speed aileron) on the wing like the 747, 767, and 777 has anything to do with this exaggerated roll activity. 757 just has ailerons out near the wingtips (traditional low speed ailerons). Spoilers kick in to help. I remember noticing on 747 landings that the small inboard aileron moves all over the place on approach and landing but provides a certain stability resulting in less roll of the wings.

  • why some jets dont take wake turbulence very well

  • What did you record this with?

  • @seekingelite

    Recorded with a Canon G10

  • I fly LGA alot and this looks a very normal landing

Always remember takeoffs are popitional and landings are mandatory

  • I would go around in 1:20

  • Be sure to watch You Tube video titled Korean 777 Terrible Landing to see a similar, but much worse, 777-300 PIO landing/outside view.

  • @herbergreen This wasn't a bad landing. It was just minor turbulence on approach. The other one was a good landing... but should have been a go-around.

  • well done to the pilot

  • Upon further review, looks like pilot induced oscillations (pio) with too much control input on a 757. I've been a passenger and experienced this on a 757 landing in Chicago. It is indeed scary. Look at all the aileron and and more importantly the spoiler movement. Each oscillation gets stronger than each preceding one.

  • @herbergreen

Thanks for your very detailed response. It was surely a scary few moments!

  • @herbergreen but the wake turbolence can cause an episode similar to PIO ;)

  • Regarding past large aircraft landing at LGA. DC-10s, A300s, L-1011s, and 767s have used the airport in the past. All these are larger than 757s.

  • @herbergreen DC-10's, L-1011's, and 767's no longer have scheduled service to LGA, that I know of. Regardless, 757's are often treated "like" a larger twin because of the wake turbulence they produce.

  • that toke like 20 seconds just to slow down! :L

  • I guess it depends on what scares you.

  • Very good video

  • It's a fine landing. When I first travelled in plane and saw that happen to it's wings, I thought the plane was breaking. :D

  • i was about to ask what scenery were u using but then i saw 1:02 hahahaha

  • What camera?

  • Finally a clip which rightfully carries the title 'scary'. So much ppl put words like scary, dangerous etc. while the landing is rather normal. Experiencing wake turbulence so close to the ground can result in a landing you don't simply walk away' from. Nice video!

  • There are 2 engines ?

  • WOW, look at that shaking!

  • I <3 NY!

  • lol what plane do you get wake turbulence from, its laguardia!

  • @NemoRahul

    757's, 737's & A319's...which all operate from LGA.

  • @kindjordan Yea, but I'm guessing this is a 757, all the planes are smaller than that and unless a 757 just took off/landed then I don't know how thats possible lol

  • @kindjordan 757 probably landed in front of you. Those wings produce nasty wake turbulence, equivalent to that of the one's coming from larger twin jets.

  • @kindjordan Im sorry... but every aircraft creates wake turbulence, some more than others

  • That was drastic... you are right about the wake turb

  • Its a whole lot worse in 60mph winds

  • @GTboy96 if its a direct headwind then that would a lot better for any landing, in a big commercial jet that is, if that was in a cessna 172 then it would be blown backwards,

  • Knowing how landing at La Guardia is. That was a bit rough but the pilot managed to rebound from it. Not bad.

  • YEEHAAA looks so fun! I'll plan on flying there next!

  • I had many landings like this. After many flights you will never say again its scary. The reason is that you have often 30 feet above runway a changing wind. Take a fly in a little Cessna and you will feel it exactly when you get closer to the runway on landing. It's a physical thing and pretty normal

  • Crosswind.

  • very nice landing !!

  • do you mean KLGA ?

    laguardia ?

  • Ive been on a extremely horrible flight from Denver into LGA b4.. never going on a plane again after that. we flew into a extreme lightning storm with very high winds and extreme turbulance. we aborted the landing and we landed very close to other plains. and when we did land, we were flying wayy to close to buildings. everyone was praying. seriously. never fly out of LGA. its a terrible airport.

  • i LOVE that raw you get when the brakes come on and it goes into reverse throttle.. i think

    Thumbs up if you agree!

  • its not scary its just a bit weird :) i had this 2 on an a330 its not scary only weird man

  • @OoMrBixooO /watch?v=i9IhQxmt08U this is scary man

  • thats nothing i bet the pilots just werent lined up with the runway properly

  • laguardias runways are too short for a 757

  • nevermind but nothing should be bigger than a 757 to land at laguardia

  • nice landing ,good flare ,nice touch, spoilers are deployed reverse thrust available,so whats wrong?

  • That's pretty normal to get. I always get that. I can understand it can be scary at first, but you get used to it after awhile. Doesn't even phase me now.

  • 'any land you can walk away from, is a good landing'

  • @HMC200 Any landing in which you can reuse the plane is a GREAT landing. LOL!

  • Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, any landing you can walk away from and use the plane again is a great landing.

  • @HMC200

That is actually a stupid statement if im honest.

If your plane landed with no gear and exploded into a ball of fire and everyone died apart from you and you managed to walk away, would you really think it was a good landing?

  • @HMC200 retarded comment which is all over the internet, a crash landing can be a good landing as well depending on the situation

  • @gladanka

well obv your the retard then if you escape with your life from a plane crash, which some of have by the way. you would not judge. so the pilot does his job he lands the aircraft, he is trained to do it and for passenger comfort they are taught to do it gently, yes the weather can sometimes scupper there plans but to a pilot if you land in challenging conditions and you escape with no complaints, no damage and no death its OBVIOUSLY A FUKING GOOD LANDING.

  • @HMC200 But if you can re-use the plane, it's a great landing!

  • @HMC200 But if you can re-use the plane, it's a great landing. ;-)

  • LOL!!! At the same time the passenger on board said wow, I said wow! :P

  • that is smooth! wtf

  • What's so scary about this? I flew on airplanes many times and this is NOTHING.

  • the sound you hear at 1:50 happens at all 757 landings on shorter runways. but the first time you hear it you really wonder what it was, which is the brakes

  • While i understand that this might have been a "standard" landing, it was scary for me and the people around me.

  • @kindjordan i agree. there are far too many people sitting at the comfort of their own home and computer passing judgment on what's scary and what's not. I've flown a lot and even though this may not look dramatic on video, yes I can see it being a little scary getting hit by some wake turbulence just before you hit pavement. it's a natural reaction. Good video.

  • @bitemysausage

Thank you Sausage. I really appreciate you taking the time to point out what many have missed. Yes it might have been routine, Yes, many have had scarier landings, but to me...and most in my section on that plane...it was scary landing!

  • @kindjordan I see that you knew what approach it was, probably means you've flown or are familiar with planes. If it made you nervous, it would've made me nervous. I've only been on an A320 a couple times, other than that all my air time is in a 152/172.

  • Great Vid but come on that was a great landing we've all been through worse.

  • 'Skidded to a stop'? Your a bit of a drama queen. But great video, nice to see wing flex on a 757

  • Wow! but a good touch down :-)

  • sorry guys i don,t see any scary about it may be if i was their i feel differant but i like the window vieu thankx 4 the vedio.

  • We encountered some very bad wake turbulence when we landed in Cancun Mexico this summer. He was trying to straighten out for like 10 seconds. Oh Btw Nice Quality.

  • this landing looked pretty normal to me

  • Respectfully, you don't know what you are talking about.....you still had about a 1,000 feet of runway, you didn't even cross over the other runway......

  • @gcaraynoff Because we had 1000 ft of runway left, it wasn't scary??. You are an imbosil!! We didn't cross the other runway because we basically skidded to a stop.

  • @kindjordan My God, you completely butchered the word IMBECILE. Kind of ironic, actually. :-)

  • @kindjordan I think you mean "imbecile"

  • @AndrewJM70 Thanks Mr. Spelling Police

  • @kindjordan its "imbecile" you imbecile.

  • @flightoftheunknown Your so orignal

  • nice video, saw your post of FL350. I can almost smell the breaks/wheels.

  • I dunno about scary or coming up short. I've heard some "frightened and ignorant" people "act out" in a normal landing in the middle of the day. I guess you had to be there!?

  • @GivathBrenner Most everyone in the plane were obviously scared. I guess you had to to be there.

  • @kindjordan true thing is videos never show the real stuff i recored a very bumpy landing on a dc10 in cross winds go to watch it when i get home and it just didnt seem to bbe extreme when i was on the plane for sure it was

  • @hammer3456

I appreciate you pointing that out. I appears based on some of the comments that people didn't think it was that scary. Maybe it didn't transition to the video. Most everyone was very scared around me.

  • @kindjordan

you could have sinked into the water! weird plane...
