Rides Again was the best. After all these years I still teach their songs to younger guitarists along with some good selections like "Life's been Good". I love to see their reaction to both the licks and lyrics in a lot of Joe Walsh's work.
To those who say the lyrics in this recording are wrong,..um,..if Joe is singing them this way, then they are right. Sometimes a singer will change up the lyrics to fit their mood at the time.
It's great that their beginings originate around Youngstown in the great state of Ohio, but those beginnings hardly define them. Joe is known around the world which includes a large following in Japan. I was quite surprised to hear a Joe's guitar blaring from the ear bud of twentyish man in a subway in Tokyo in 04
There I Go Again (Joe Walsh) Hey‚ ooh‚ what’ll I do Looks like it’s the end Ooh‚ hey‚ could you please stay There I go again You know I hate to lose her The good thing that I had I would rather lose her Then watch it all go bad I guess I’ll just go on ahead There’s still some things to come Yes‚ things are pretty much said Back where I came from
Hey‚ ooh‚ what’ll I do Looks like it’s the end Ooh‚ hey‚ could you please stay There I go again It may be that I found my way And not see her again Tomorrow is a brighter day Why should I pretend I know I won’t see her again We’ve gone our separate ways Making love every now and then I don’t have much to say
@wildabeast95 I think so, too! I like the Eagles a lot, but I like this band a little better, even though they did not do as much, the are a lot more fun to listen too, and Joe Walsh did not have all those other Eagles' egos to deal with. Actually, I even liked him alone (Life's Been Good to Me So Far) than with the Eagles.
@wildabeast95 Sure thing bro' :the'GANG' were not 'commercial'!(Only -perhaps - the 1st TWO Eagles albums were true to their 'integrity'...XXXXcreashonrebel
The James Gang got me through Jr. High School. I thought no one else knew about them but me back then. I listened to them most every night before I went to sleep.

@jjammin1812 the last line is wrong... it goes: "we've gone our separate ways... thinkin' of her now and then, don't have much to say."

Rusty Young plays petal steel on Rides Again, Al Perkins was not on this album

Great song that is overlooked by many.
maybelline77 1 year ago
I guess I kinda always hoped Joe did the steel on this - a la Skunk Baxter, or even Jimmy Page. Oh well - it's still one of my all time faves.

I always thought Rusty Young played pedal steel on this?
