I tried this, but got too frustrated trying to get the back of my head. Man, it's a real pain in the neck trying to work w/ a mirror in one hand, an electric razor in the other, and every move you make is the opposite of what you think! I ended up just shaving my entire head (like I usually do). When I grow it out again, I'll go have it cut professionally. Cool video though.

@RichTicktronic the amount of hair u left on the side is more a resemblence to a mohawk rather than a faux hawk. a faux hawk is basically a normal short hair cut with the top hair styled with hair gel. you didnt use hair gel, rather just shave off the sides with a hair clipper.

@S7VIIN for your first time maybe just use a #3 on the sides, then next time the 2, then after that use the angled fade guards over your ear once you're used to it.

@LiamoMacDeadly hey man, it's maybe better to get it done by the barber like you said and then just maintain and customize by yourself. Get some really good clippers, even ask the barber where to get proper ones and invest in some that will last. Then just use the 2 straight up the sides, the hovering part on the top is tricky but with thick hair and a steady had you'll get the hang of it easily, Rock out with your hawk out buddy! -BD
@Ayooo66 in the middle my hair at the very top front is sometimes up to 4 inches and gradually gets shorter to the back to about 1.5-2 inches at the crown. I use a #2 on the sides and at the top just hold it on an angle to the side and carve off a little at a time. Go easy at first, you'll get better each time you cut it. Keep on Hawkin'!!

@yihd if you can get your hair to stand up then yeah, Asian hair is nice and thick so sharp clippers should work just fine for you, maybe start with no fade, just using the #3 on the sides might be best for the first try buddy.
It is not shaved at the sides but rather clipped to a fade. Hence "Faux Hawk" instead of "Mohawk" but then again whatever you need to call it because of being unfamiliar with the French word "Faux", is fine, you can call it Susan for all I care -;) either way, Rock out with that hawk out! @yihd if you can get your hair to stand up then yeah, Asian hair is nice and thick so sharp clippers should work just fine for you, maybe start with no fade, just using the #3 on the sides might be best for the first try buddy.

It is not shaved at the sides but rather clipped to a fade. Hence "Faux Hawk" instead of "Mohawk" but then again whatever you need to call it because of being unfamiliar with the French word "Faux", is fine, you can call it Susan for all I care -;) either way, Rock out with that hawk out!
