We showed up on 9/12 on our own dime, we did shut down DC, the police were unprepared, the National Guard did not show up (in fact National Guard members where in the crowds), as many people showed up we could have marched right up the steps of the capital with no weapons. We counted 4 cops on the capitol steps, I saw 2 police cars. You don't know a lot about what happened on 9/12 and that probably has a lot to do with who you listen to for news. I was there.

SoldierboyX, it's not just the young who are clueless, people my age or a generation below me are constantly trying to tell me some "fact" about the war. In fact I would hazard a guess not one of them could point to Iraq or Afghanistan on a map.
I sometimes feel very sad to think how these same people are being manipulated into thinking they are protecting our way of life against some Nazi or some dam thing. They are frightened about this countries future.
And there are those, who's living depends on continuing to frighten them and point to the "evil" one or ones. Things are messed up, but not nearly as messed up as they would have been had gov stayed out of any kind of bail out or stimulus. Introduce a little reality into their dreams of glory on a battle field and all of them go nuts, as you can see by some of the comments.

Your ideas of how a civil war would play out completely ignores our governments Continuity of Government planning. Yes, I do remember the 60's. The riots and protest, didn't make a rebellion aimed at over throwing our form of gov. It was in protest to civil rights and the draft for the war.
For one thing, too many millions don't know what is happening to them until it happens, if it happens... and when it happens they don't know what happened (that often includes elected officials). Our banks (ie: the power thugs) will not let it happen (a take-over of the US) because there is too much wealth to be gained from the masses who don't know what is happening. As for the NAU, I would guess it's not as big a deal as the wing nut crowd makes it out to be. More about trade and transport, than anything else. The fear mongers just love to get people all excited about some thing or another.

Why should many people care about the US$ collapse? Most people don't have even enough dollars for there food and rent.

Exactly. When the last big depression happened, there wasn't a revolt against the gov. There were a few riots to be sure but dam few. My Dad talked about eating oatmeal 3 times a day. My Grandpa told about herding sheep on foot from Co to Mex. Everyone lived and worked together to "make it through" as they put it. It would be the same now, is the same now.

We showed up on 9/12 on our own dime, we did shut down DC, the police were unprepared, the National Guard did not show up (in fact National Guard members where in the crowds), as many people showed up we could have marched right up the steps of the capital with no weapons. They tried to tell us that we had to stay only on the grass part of the mall, until we shouted back "WE OWN THE MALL". They shut down the metro for an hour, they had to begin directing the charter buses out of the city to metro stations because the ones in the center of the city where to crowded. We counted 4 cops on the capitol steps, I saw 2 police cars. You don't know a lot about what happened on 9/12 and that probably has a lot to do with who you listen to for news. I was there.

I believe that a revolt like this would not happen not because it can not, but because the political and social upheaval severe enough to trigger such a thing, would have triggered a drastic change in government through the democratic process. We do not have a fixed system like people like to thing. We simply have complacent people. eventually you would see a revolution at the ballot box.

People forget what the old revolution was. It was not armed mobs fighting an elected government. It was an elected government fighting an oppressive government overseas. We say the harsh effects of popular revolt in France. They are still socially scarred by the French Revolution. A population cannot rise up. Now we can point out the civil war as an example, but the civil war would only serve as a reinforcement to my argument. The South attempted to throw off the federal government but did not have a large enough support,because if they did, they would also have enough congressional representatives.

For one thing, too many millions don't know what is happening to them until it happens, if it happens... and when it happens they don't know what happened (that often includes elected officials). Our banks (ie: the power thugs) will not let it happen (a take-over of the US) because there is too much wealth to be gained from the masses who don't know what is happening. The only way it will happen is if the power thugs bailed ship for a wealthier soil. Won't happen.

Hi Boomer,
This was a very interesting analysis and hypothesis of a movement that is happening and could move in a certain direction. I sincerely hope that a lot of justifiably angry Americans don't get themselves shot with a reckless attempt at rebellion. Frankly, if your theory manifests, I don't think some outside country would be providing funds for such a march, but corporations in our own country who have an incentive to mess with the lower class for their own benefit.

The war is happening right now. Progressives in both parties are working daily to destroy our founding Republic and/or constitutional principles. The war will be between progressives who don't care about the constitution and those who do.

In regards to a civil war, I never said that the American people would march to Washington. A civil war would most likely be a guerrilla war.
The article claims that the U.S. government would use 1 million U.S. soldiers to fight a civil war. And of course, the articles may not be reliable, that's why I asked if people believed it was propaganda or reliable info.
I was using the article to start a debate. I wasn't claiming that it was gossip.

I took your meaning to be a massive up rising of millions of people at one time, as much as 2% of the population, if memory serves me. And you suggested that there would be military troops that would be on their side. I envisioned a huge crowd moving against Washington, my mistake.

If for any reason, people didn't have enough food, anything could happen at that point.
Best bet for the government is to keep the people fat, dumb, and happily entertained.

there is so much land that isn't being farmed in America do to treaties made with other countries, that no one would die of starvation if the farmers were allowed to farm.
