  • the rest i mostly got and really like your imrov solo at 1:05 but are u using an open string as a pedal note for all of it or is just lots of picking? don't hear an open string really but just wondering,

trying to develop my finger picking style and this would help a lot anything at all really. lol

    great vid btw!!

  • hey wonderful playin, i absolutely love this song as its about the greatest creature in the world, nothin like a blue eye merle to brighten ur day.

was wondering if i can ask u a few questions.

    For picking hand -

    1. are you using pick and fingers, all multiple finger picks, or all finger only and no picks and do you use thumb and 2 finger or thumb and 3 fingers.

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed

Pick + 2 fingers, no open string on that improv bit

    hope that helps

    JC

  • Hey! whats the tunning you use? CFCFAF?

Btw nice playing and tone, what guitar you used and plugged in what device?

    Keep on rocking!

  • what tuning is it in?

  • We're not getting those tabs are we?

    Great job anyway.

  • Thanks... but I genuinely have no Tab, cause I never use them

I'm from an era where you had to use your ear & imagination to work things out from record

But theres a video here, and crystal sound quality....... give it a go

  • Thanks anyway JC. I've learned the majority of what I play that way but since acquiring a computer in '05, I've become somewhat spoiled. I'm also in my 40's and have a bad genetic thing in my family so, I might not have a lot of time to practice. Your version is fantastic though. Thanks again.

  • Thanks again JC and, for NOT having tabs! You've inspired me to get off my lazy ass and start doing things the way I used to do them. I still have some work to do on the song but, I'm getting there. I just needed a kick in the ass. THANKS again!

  • I like your added lick 1:00-1:05, was that from a boot or your own touch? It's pagie for sure tho, nice

  • its a mix of live and studio zep, more live '75 earls court with a touch of '77 and studio

  • can u plz post the tab 4 this :)

  • Hello John. I used to watch you play in Dundee many years ago. I am Graeme Watt's pal. Of all the versions of this on youtube nothing comes close to your quality - just astounding stuff. I noticed that Kingfisher is down?? I posted a link to my friends at Joe Satriani's website - they will love hearing this version. All the best. Ronnie

  • One word, exceptional!!!!!

  • shit man.. this is amazing

  • Thats the way it should be done, don't copy the best known live take note for note, play the skeleton of it, improvise and add in other ideas on the top. Thats what Jimmy did. Excellent work JC.

  • wonderful!!!!!

  • Wow! AWESOME!

  • sounds great!

  • wow great and that haircut:D just like Jimmy in Court

  • Damn hippie get a haircut - no really that is absolutely fantastic - inspiring stuff - 10 outta 10!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great work brother! do you play in open g?

  • Wow...

  • Fantastic played!

May you please tell me how Jimmy Page is tuning he's guitar when he is playing this?

I know that the tuning is DGDGBD, but it sounds like jimmy page is tuning the guitar 1 step before he's tuning it into DGDGBD?

  • Fantastic.

  • Most of the ''improvisation'' is from Earl's Court concert in 1975.

Anyway, he does some really good riffs.

  • Beautiful, sounds just as good as Page

  • that was excellent mate top marks

  • You are awesome!

  • Awesome job!

  • This is ridiculous. I hate you. But seriously, awesome.

  • is this supposed to be good?????

just kidding, that is ridiculous, you are incredible!! Best cover i've ever heard

  • CHINGON!!!!

  • I really love the way you play this. I want to know waht you are playing through. Your sound is right on. Were did you get this version from beside your improv which is GREAT. Thanks I am going to steal a few of your licks tonight when I am playing it. We usually start our second set off with an acoustic zep shot. Thats The Way, Black Country, and right into Bron Yr Aur Stomp. It ALWAYS Gets the best response..

  • Thanks man ... Earls Court 1975

  • John is obviously a stage name.... I know it's you, Jimmy...

You owned that mate. Fantastic job.

  • sweet!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey JC, just a doubt. Its ok to tune the acoustic guitar like that? Using C's? And its ok to put it back to standard or you have to leave in a down tune?

  • Jesus! AMAZING!

Where did you get the Zeppelin-type Font?

  • Dude you totaly could have been a 5th member of Led Zeppelin.

  • Well... best I've heard yet..! Captures the essence...

  • this is real nice. cheers

  • wats the tuning for this song

  • should be called Bron Y Aur Stomp Jam.. excellent.. I hope I ever get half as good as you.

  • nice palm muting on 1:47, you really made that part interesting. good job

  • Bravo !! Sublime ! Awesome ;)

  • Very nice, but 95% of that wasn't Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp.

  • its the live version. obviously tho hes adding on to it.

  • fantastic! thats probably the most justice ive ever heard done to this tune

  • dude ur doing drugs and i love it. i just shat my pants

  • wow dude, that was incredible! where do you learn to play like that!!??

  • Niiiice!!!

  • You completely OWNED that song!! awesome!!!

  • holy mother fuck!!!! hahah props to you my friend... I thought I thought I had the song mastered :P haha damn, I gotta practice the scale on the tuning.

  • Thats fuckin crisp

  • It makes me feel small

  • Inspiring

  • Every bit as good as any guitarist I have seen including Steve Morse!!

  • outstanding LOVED every second! U have got the true essance of the song! Thank you for posting!

  • THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE PLAYED!!!amazing

  • I THINK the tuning is D G D G B E... Not %100 though

  • yeah man! give the rest of us Zep guitar players some help by puttin out a tab of this one!

  • I'm impressed. Though you do learn from tabs, could you please do several people a favour and post, even write the tab for us?

  • guitar sounds great. effective picking also..similar to how jimmy improvised. check my version out. its not as though. lol

  • love it man great

  • i had to watch that 3 times to finally understand how you did that. holy freaking crap, NICE ONE. hoping to be able to play that that wel some day.
