  • why the heck would i want an ESC that plays music and cool tunes? kid you dont have a scooby doo!

  • ima use a 40A and a 3600kv it tat ok

  • For 450 sized helis I don't recommend 1800mah, ecspecially when the battery only gives off 20c. I recommend 2250mah at 45c (It'll cost you, but 1. They let your heli run faster and better, and 2. They are the biggest size that would fit the belt cp's battery holder.).

  • @Aeroman591 i was hgonna use 2200mah 30-40c and 35c

  • nice vid kid, good job, matt

  • Go thru puberty then talk to us

  • What is wrong with the camera man? He cant find the perfect brightness?

  • belt cp is not good heli

  • Schönes video hab auch ein Video davon gemacht

  • Your a nice kid, i wish i had a son like you.

  • my tip is dont get a esky

  • ok if i buy a seperate 40a esc and a seperate 3A switching BEC i should be right ???

does the stock esc have a built in bec?

  • yes that is why they overheat usually because they have a built in bec

  • Good vid, but were you trying to attack people with epilepsy at about 5:10? lol

  • @MrCudaguy1 LOL

  • Hi......................i recently blew the crap out of my belt cp v2. videos of what i lost on my channel

  • i trained with the honeybee 4 channel fixed pitch which you can buy at xheli or bananahobby nitroplanes is cheaper good luck with your helis

  • Great video. Which Fixed pith heli did you use for training?

  • hi helimaster101! Ive just bought a micro 4 ch heli. do you have any suggestions on training gear or something?

  • training gear is really only needed on fp helis and 6 channel helis the micros cant lift them and will burn out the motors with the exeption of the bigger 4 channel s like the big lamma but i dont recommend putting training gear on them have good flights

  • Great vid. Your a smart kid.

  • Great video and spot on information, I burnt out my esc after about 10 flights, luckily I had just landed when it went up in a cloud of smoke and flame. I replaced it with an aftermarket esc and haven't had any problems since. Keep the vids coming.

  • e skt elecronics sucks!!!!!!

  • Your a cool kid, I wonder how many kids are into hobby-grade heli's. I am, but it seems uncommon.

  • good video dude, i know most of this already, however its always good to know that others think the same. happy flying!!

  • i think yes, because you can fly them just as a FP (just dont hit idle up :P)

But its way different/harder then a Coax

But, its more complicated then a FP because the angle thing of the blades (got a Belt CP V2 Wth green canopy)

  • @Helimaster101. Dont listen what the other peeps say im quite young to and i just love R/C helicopters, but is it wise to get a belt cp v2 after a coax?

  • no buy a fixed pitch heli before you get a belt that is how i trained

  • @HeliMaster101 ok thnx

  • thanks dude..

    Good advise!

    cheerz from amsterdam

  • I was looking for other types and brands like : Walkera 4 or ESKY HONEY BEE CP3 2.4GHz 6CH 3-D I relly like a Walkera Transmitter WK 2402 in some kits. We really have to begin in 3ch...4ch....6ch.... and so on? I prefer to pay fpr something I can develop new skills... in the art of flying

  • Very nice and informative video. Very cool man. But... I´m worried now. I think this heli is very very nice... and seems to be stronger and smooth to fly. I´ve never flew any heli channel. I like real challenges and...I want begin with 6 ch and you tube guides ...for sure !!!! But I have to know how to change all this peaces to play with my heli? How can I know how to make this adjustments to correct the flight... and to connect ESC and other switches....

  • For an ESC, I recommend getting something from Castle Creations or Scorpion (innov8tive designs). They are better than anything from exceed. Also, for the motor, yous hould run something from neu or scorpion. You will never have to worry about a burning out ESC.

  • My esc on the V2 belt, is still working... no probs with overheating.. you should just use an external bec...

  • This is a great video - very informative and spot on. Good stuff and thanks for sharing! Based on this I had a ESC on hand for when mine failed.

  • thanks for the support i love when people send me comments i will keep making videos to keep you guys happy i also enjoy it thanks again

  • HeliMaster101 most of these guys are tools! I found your video very informative. Its good to know theres people like you who are willing to take the time to help other flyers!

  • thanks very much for the support i will keep up with new videos for you send me comments or subscribe to tell me what you could use help with and i will make a vid on that thanks

  • @HeliMaster101. little dude don,t listen to these assholes. keep doing what you love.

  • Thanks for the tip

  • in other words esky esc are crap, they cant handel the amps the motor gives them, and control this power. Get a better esc it will save you a bunch in heli repair.

ps. the vid is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to long.

  • The kid is right the Esky ESC's are crap!!

I've owned the v1 and v2 Belt-cp both ESC's went up in smoke.

Better to have separate ESC & BEC true but there are better ESC's with built in BEC that last and don't burn up after a few flights.

Luckily I no longer fly Esky products thier Honeybee FP is thier golden product the rest are questionable.

  • how could you possibly know how many speed controllers fail on belt cp v2???? Have you contacted all the owners? I have flown myn over 20 times on a full battery: no problems. It is great value for £140 from heliguy

  • @AZURERACE The kid knows what he's talking about, replace your esc before it goes, it'll be cheaper in the long run. 1 esc vs 1 esc and crash damage, do the maths, mine went luckily I had just landed.

  • Are you old enough to swear...lol. Good vid for people who are not aware of the problem. Not had a problem with mine....yet!

  • 3:54

    Conflicting sentence:

MANY people have good luck with their esky speed controls, but MAJORITY of them.....do burn out....

    umm LOL

  • @NightHawker258 Slightly conflicting because it's not true (btw, many != most).

The majority of people really do not run into this issue at all. In fact with the newer digital servos and latest ESC this problem pretty much is nonexistent. Same risk as with any other brand, especially the cheaper ESCs like the one he's got.

By the way I find it amusing how he's promoting after-market batteries, but hates on the Esky ESC for being cheap and a 'Chinese made' B grade. You get what you pay for.

  • yea he does, lol

  • um uh uh um LOL!

  • HEY i HAVE THE SAME one with fully upgraded CNC. However I HAVE A PROBLEM AFTER UPGRADED..THE HELI KEEP SPINNING LIKE CRAZY AND i CANT EVEN CONTROL IT PLEASE HELPP

  • on your gyro there is a reverse switch switch it to the opposite of what it is on now or try adjusting the tail ill make a video showing you how to do this please subscribe

  • you are right it is crap

  • heya,

not sure when you made this video, but the belt and honey bee helis were replaced in 2008 with upgraded esc's due to this very problem.

So hopefully they should be ok now...

  • luisg877-Thanks for the info. I've been doing some research & found that these ESC's are no good for this Heli, but Esky still fit them! My one has burned out after 5 minutes of being out of the Box! (very disappointing) Esky obviously dont test their components very well, shame on them. I wont be buying Esky again, if they are happy to knowingly sell the public faulty goods, they don't deserve any more of my money. I've just ordered an Align T-Rex 700, and the Belt CP is getting sold for spares

  • great the 700 is a sweet machine, i do like my belt cp the only downsides are the gyro, tail rod, ESC and the fm radio system.

  • i have the same ESC as you on my v1

  • Hi

You know when you change esc,do you have to buy programme card to programme the esc or is it just fit in and fly? I want to replace my one but I wonder if I need to buy programme card.

    Thanks

  • depends on the esc you buy the one that i recommended in the video is pre-programmed

  • Hi I bough a hobbywing 30a with a programme card,I am still waiting for it to arrive hhahaa!!

  • Great Job !!!

  • Great work.

Just bought a Belt CP V2 Carbon Edition and is great to find such helpful videos to help me understand what to do as i am new to this Rc Heli world.Keep up the good work

  • Hi

I just got my one and when I tried to hover around,it keep going on the right?why is that?please help..!!

  • Just read your post and it seems to me that you need to adjust your trims on the Rx i think.......but i could be wrong as i have only just started this hobbie myself

  • you could also first try your subtrims on the transmittor

  • it could be your gain on the gyro or our tail servo isn't set correctly so to fix the servo unscrew the servo horn and turn horn the opposite direction to counteract this movement or on the top of the gyro adjust the limit on the gyro

  • Hi HeliMaster, good job on the video! It's very helpful for beginners like me..I just got a new Belt CP V2. After first flight (around 2 or 3 minutes) I landed it to give it a check over and noticed the esc was extremely hot, so I disconnected the battery to let it cool down. When I re-connected the battery and tried to throttle up for take off again, nothing happens! The main Blades wont even turn now, all the servos work, just the motor wont run! Do you know what the problem is? Thanks.

  • your esc could have burned out or was damaged during flight or under the main gear there is a screw that goes threw the main shaft and there is a bolt on the other side of the main gear it might have come loose also be sure that your wires aren't disconected

  • Cheers HeliMaster, but I've scrapped the Belt CP due to it being (in my opinion) crap quality for the money. I found that the ESC had burned out on my one, which is pathetic for a brand new Helicopter that only flew for 2 to 3 minutes of just being out of the Box. I understand it's a well known fault, but Esky still fit them, and that's unacceptable for me, as I expect a bit more than 3 minutes of flight for my money before it packs in. Thanks for your help tho! I've got an Align T-Rex 700 now.

  • you could have burned out your speed controller

  • I'm from Germany and for me it is really funny that nowadays this is a global problem.

How many people have problems with this ESC. My one burned out too. First this was really surprising and luckily i was able to disconnect the battery before the Helicopter itself or the battery took any damage.

I've replaced the ESky ESC with a Robbe Roxxy 940-6. It's a 40 amp ESC with termal protection and many more. It starts really smooth and works well until now.

Have fun and thanks for recording it...

  • nice video but what happened to your camera about halfway through though and wouldnt clamping those wires be slighty less reliable during flying

  • LUCIANMP is right, but not completely. ESC burning because motor takes more amperage then ESC can handle. So as more ESC can manage amperage as better. BES must be at least 3A. Thing is when u go out of battery, motor takes all energy and BES not able to supply servos with enough power. Then u losing control and stability.

  • Yes, the ESC must be able to handle the current taken by the motor. The Esky 3800kv motor draws about 20A max, so theoretically the stock Esky 25A ESC should be enough, but the quality of the electronics in that ESC is questionable...

  • Linear BECs are not very efficient and produce lots of heat as opposed to switching BECs. That's why you need an external BEC (switching preferred), to get rid of the heat produced by the built-in linear BEC. This way you help the ESC stay a bit cooler, and, thus, have a longer life. Another advantage of external BECs is that, in the event of and ESC failure in flight, the Rx and servos still have a power source and you could try an autorotation.

  • Comment removed

  • The Rx, servos, and gyro are powered by the BEC (2A linear in the case of the stock 25A Esky ESC). Yes, I totally agree it's always best not to push the electronics to the limit.

  • The ESC can be programmed to gradually cutoff the power to the motor when the battery voltage drops below a certain level (usually 9V, not to damage the lipo). The servos, Rx, and gyro need only 4.8V-6V, so you still have control over the collective/cyclic/rudder even when the motor is cutoff by the ESC not matter if the BEC is built-in or external.

  • The problem is that both Volcano and Esky ESCs (and most others for that manner) have a built-in linear BEC rated 2A. This BEC powers the 4 servos and the Rx, so it is at his very limits. You need an external 3A switching BEC, which will keep your ESC cooler.
