  • I know this just because our Englishteacher had shown it to us :)

  • No matter how much you think, there is no way you can figure the best way to lead an entire nation. It's all so complicated, you can only guess and hope for the best.

  • i bet none of you cunts have ever held a job. who cares if they encouraged people to vote thru WB? fuck ya in the neck

  • Against Me!.....corporate cheerleders, charlatans, the "Dom Pérignon "....

  • i love the irony of them. .there music depicts a group against the buisness controled capitalists ways of america and yet there selling themselfs to those same buisnesses to endorse there music... there not playing against the system there playing FOR them... truly sad..

  • I know right? What sell outs. How dare they. Encouraging people to take part in decision making in a government that is supposed to be for the people, by the people. How DARE they encourage people to exercise their right to vote.

  • missed my point completly kid.. im not saying dont ote im saying use teh dssognto encorage us to make a gov that for teh peopel not for teh buisnesses cuase right now im homless withno medical and watching wealthy families mock the lower class like me.. yea that gov so for teh peopel face it. .america run on buisness for the buisness by the buisness. people have no say becuase of corps dont agree they change our decision.. MAKE A DREAL DIFFERENCE.. FIND A NON PROFIT LEADER NOT A CORP RUN BULL

  • So you're homeless but have enough time to check youtube on a PC somewhere. That makes sense.

  • @Mortido Elections are sold. Why do you think the rich always win (democrats or republicans)? I wont vote because I believe freedom is self government. Freedom is not electing your masters. Fuck em...

  • Warner Bros. Records????......how low can you go?

  • "stop, take some time to think; figure out what's important to you...."

    Integirty? No.

    Honesty? No.

    Vision? Not really.

    Fans? Nah

    Compromise? sounds good.

    Sponsorship? Yeah

Capitulation? if the price is right.

  • corporate shills....what's next starbucks endoresments?

  • This, brings a tear to my eye. I'm somewhat agreeing with nicolemivy, you can change. But, I didn't want them too, they were a punk icon. This, just throws everything they've said out the window. Why? I thought they wouldn't sell out.

  • Hm, well eventually (almost) everyone grows and matures and realizes "HEY UHHH UHM YEAH! ANARCHISM? YEAH, THAT'S NEVER GOING TO WORK. AND UH, MAYBE I SHOULD TAKE MY PASSIONS AND MY STRENGTHS AND DRIVE A FORCE THAT CAN ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE." And so they take a position. Are people not allowed to grow, learn, and change their minds? Have you believed whole heartedly and felt as passionately towards everyone of your positions your entire life? Is that possible?

  • die slow bitch

  • @nicolemivy Catalonia 1936. Voting doesnt really make a difference. The only thing Obama has done worth while is attempt to end Guantanamo. And I dont trust Gov. regulated health care...I have no stake in it.

  • Too bad they aren't Anarchist anymore...Great while they lasted.

  • Love how the issues you make mention of aren't those that I feel the strongest about. What about building more nuclear power plants to solve our energy crisis; what about winning the war we started; what about reducing the size of government and cutting all of the unnecessary federal beaurocracies; and what about passing nationwide reciprocity for those with permits to carry weapons concealed? Those are just a few of the issues that move me most.

You don't fool anyone, you're not impartial.

  • Clearly they presented an unbiased view of all the issues confronting the United States and the imagery used isn't intended to sway viewers to one side.

    Kudos guys.

  • "you believe in the ballot, believe in reform"

    my, how we've changed

  • yeah they've changed but they were never really "anarchopunk," just really D.I.Y., if you listen to earlier lyrics or interviews with them, they encouraged voting as an effective way of correcting the government

  • Really? So they aren't sellouts. They were reformists (read:"spineless liberals") all along.

  • voting is hella anarchopunk

  • I've never even heard of these people.

  • you should. they are brilliant.

against me! new wave is their latest record. you should really give it a shot.

  • wow, lol

  • That's a damn shame. :|

  • "'Cause baby, I'm a concerned citizen

Yes, I will take your hand and marry the State."

    Qouted for truth and lulz

  • remember when this band mattered?

  • No.

    MAYK TEH SRS DECIZUN, JER.

  • yeah, i think they could have convinced me to vote about 5 years ago, now they just make me laugh, and what a fuckign awful song

  • As much as I agree that New Wave is bleh, by any reasonable definition of 'mattering', they matter more now then they ever have, hence their involvement with Rock the Vote. Kind of unfortunate, really.

  • my comment was pretty tongue in cheek, and in reference to an unrelated incident in which hAM!'s van was vandalized, but regardless... i don't think making a bad commercial for a naive campaign really counts as "mattering," especially if that commercial is promoting ideas in direct opposition to what the band has formerly based its ethics on.

  • But in terms of exposure and chart performance, they're bigger now than ever before. They're reaching and influencing more people now than they were when they wrote 'Burn'. Their involvement with Rock the Vote isn't why they 'matter', just indicative of the fact that they have enough name recognition to be involved with that sort of project.

God damn, I need a new hobby.

  • Again, it was a tongue-in-cheek comment and I really don't care this much. But for the sake of argument, "exposure" doesn't automatically equal influence. especially when your music no longer has a message, and the type of fans you attract don't care for any sort of message you used to have. if Rock the Vote is the biggest message your band currently has, then who cares how much name recognition you've got?

  • Like what? Voting? I don't think the band ever said not to vote. I remember reading Misanthrope and Tom Gabel specifically calling for people to vote despite the kinks in the system. It's something they've always believed in.

  • Well, I mean, even Baby, I'm An Anarchist discusses not giving into the system on the assumption that you can work with within it. they talk about not working with the "elephant and jackass," or working for reform. Note that i'm not saying i ever shared these beliefs, I vote.

But again, don't take my comments so seriously. the statement was related to an incident that happened a long time ago to them while they were on tour.

  • Not hard to remember. They still do.

  • baby, i'm an anarchist

  • garbage.
