Attention YouTube - Are We Still Relevant?

Interestingly enough, in my creative collaborations, I most certainly interact with global youtubers .... but I see what you mean about the narrower catagories and geographical areas. Hell, just in the US they could even narrow it down by states and emphasize a LOCAL community.

The shift I'm seeing personally is that they (international youtubers) find us, but it's gotten harder for us to find them. Thanks for stopping over. I'm think I'm out of retirement with your video ;)

YouTube doesn't care about exposure. They want to turn a profit and the way to do that is to elevate relatively select few that are consistent and proven content providers. It's a little like if you have a million dollars in the bank. You'll make a lot of interest. But if you have a dollar in a million banks you won' t make anything.

There's a certain amount of symbolism here (perhaps unintentional?) that you're shoulder deep in water and losing eyewear as you discuss how up to our shoulders we were/are on this site. (not to mention the "oh shit" moment, lol)

I miss the old featured section on YouTube... we were able to find new talent and people that way. Now they just use it to promote the same people over & over.

it`s only more: comercial.

Specially here in germany are only more flat video`s on site 1. Most of them are only stiupid boring and senseless. In past it was every day exciting to look what`s new and what`s going on etc.. yes, youtube was a great thing in past.:\

when you made this video there were little flags to click on so you could chose which country's front page you wanted to view (and I was one that did check them out)....don't see the flags anymore so not sure if we all have a different front page now. However, views and honours are all but nil now for us little people.

we can't look at a lot of the content from the US corporate crap anyway (CBS, etc) - and half the Rolling Stones videos on their channel are prohibited for UK viewers due to copyright- I thought they were British!! LOL

What get's me is that on a YouTube search, I can see the content she sees (if it doesn't have country specific copyrights) only if I look for it by name, and vice versa with her - thus excluding many vloggers from even appearing in the search.

John, it appears to have become worse. So much so that many have just disappeared from the Tubes over this past year. Google don't give a damn about vloggers, We are now a tiny wee minority compared to videos from rock bands and skunks farting.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them putting up porn if they thought it would get hits. I love YT, but I am becoming very disillusioned with the way they are going and might just fuck off for a while.
