  • I can turn on lights, it's called the clapper! Clap on clap off the clapper!

  • So I don't get what the white shirt guy is saying. Is he implying that we should be skeptical of skepticism?

  • "I can't prove a negative. The best I can do is show you that it is not very likely to be true. That's the best I can do."

That there is a very important statement; something that the gullible so often fail to grasp. It's as though there is a disconnect where they don't realize that they aren't applying critical thinking where they should and will persist in delusion for as long as there is just the slightest gap in their understanding of reality.

  • Not being able to explain something does not make it supernatural and therefore of merit.

  • For some reason, people are really responding negatively to the student who gave Randi some criticism in the classroom. The guy had good points and voiced his opinion, there is nothing wrong with thinking for oneself. Why be so rash in making up your mind about psychic capabilities? There are arguments for both sides, and you've got to admit Randi was biased. This was an interesting documentary and one that exposed many fakes, but it's not meant to be conclusive.

  • Buzzcut in the front row there is a twat.

  • .......er Fapsamup, you are making your own generalisations - 1) Islamic countries are not primitive; 2) there are a fair deal of muslims in America; 3) there are many sceptics in America despite their general world image.

  • Quote James Randi: 2:07 "People like to believe sertain things are true." Now, let me correct that: "AMERICANS like to believe sertain things are true." Compare the American culture with any primitive Islamic country, they are as both superstitious as one another. Mr. Randi, please, don't generalize the American way of thinking with the rest of the wolrd.

  • i wonder if i'd be a good psychic, i sure could use an extra money...

  • hes good at tricking people, have you ever thought of him tricking us into what he "believes" ? magic tricks.. and made up horosocopes that basically tell the same basic aspecs of a colleage kid . everyone has an ability , a spirital aspect. other wise whats the point of religion? ugh this guy stresses me out. lol

  • @TheDesertcanyon When you say everyone has an ability, what exactly do you mean? An ability to do what? Bake a pie, run a marathon?

  • he is too sceptic

  • I can use telepathy .

I can exchange voice and videos messages , smell and bad and good filings with people around ,

people can move muscles on my body from distance and much more.

  • Casinos definitely believe in psychics and utilize different methods to distract them. Actual mastery of psychic energy is impossible, in that it cannot be used at will, every time. NEVER will the unseen expose itself just to prove to a large group of non-believers that it exists. That is the nature of true psychic experience. When I tried to `demonstrate my ability, it went away. One must be dedicated and content to witness and benefit from knowledge without sharing, not for ego nor TV viewers.

  • Interpretation is not always reality.

  • changing careers? to what? KFC? burger king? hell no ! bankruptcy

  • Aleluyaaa god blesss you tube !!!

  • That dude in the white shirt just had his tiny mind shattered and now has entered the first stage of denial. Fail.

  • I agree with this guy on one point, and i dis agree on another.

agree: many of these people a fake.

dis agree: some are not, i mean in africa. I am not sure he extended his research to africa. I have lived in africa, and believe me on not there is some sort of spiritual world.

  • 0:50 The guy with the white t-shirt is learning to count at community college.

  • at the swissair counter before departing for moscow what the hell is james wearing?? he looks like a priest...lol

  • Yeah! Randi took Swissair to fly to Moscow! Sadly no psychic saw the downfall of this company.

  • @maxem79 He's way more famous, popular and intelligent than you...so what does that make you?

  • The guy at 3:01 is a genius

  • He's a well-spoken jackass.

  • wtf?

  • What? Do you even know what you wrote?

  • You are clearly not sane so I'm not going to waste my time.

  • i have only spent money on one psychic but seen my mum scammed by heaps and keep going back. All I am saying is this is my experiance and it was kinda freaky this person was able to explain my condiotn in great details when for 6yrs no doctor, person or anything was even able to come close with their training. its kinda freaky. I do not have the ability to track down this persons record to see how many he has gotten right to find if it was just a guess - probably was - still freaky - be nice

  • liar

  • they can pic up on the subtle changes in the behaviour smell sweat of theperson the dogs are not physic

    freaky yes Physic - NO

i hope that ur feeeling better and that you are keeping well

  • there are clues when ppl have things wrong with them and we do not always see these things in ourselves eg ppl develop a line on the earlobes that indicatesa predipostion to heart attack and appears in the months prior to it happening all i am saying is that some ppl are able to observe things that u dont realize ur putting out there- like the dogs who can sniff out cancers -or can sense a epeltic fit coming on the dogs arent physic

  • i am pretty skeptical but try and keep an open mind and have tried psychics and checking out all this stuff and yes i have met a fair share of scammers but I did meet one psychic who was to accurate. I had been suffering from an unknown medical condition that doctors had said was all just me being depressed. He not only told me what was wrong but where - I later got diagnosed with that to the shock of my doctors because i didn't display any of the symptoms of this rare condition.

  • No matter how unlikely you'll ever meet a truly legitimate psychic, or mystic it is important to attempt to keep an open mind. Science has progressed monumentally from age to age, but that does not mean it is infallible and can explain every thing in existence. It is understandable why James Randi is as skeptical as he is after all things he has debunked over the years. One has to truly wonder how he would react if a person managed to prove him wrong for once... well him and his beard. : )

  • ur DR was a fool and the physic a wizard - if u came to me and im neither a physic or a doctor then i could probably have a stab at whats wrong with you based on my experience and knowledge

when ppl see physics they dont realize how much info they give out woithout knowing or being aware - these ppl ( scammers physics ) are good ( well better ) or have a knowledge about ppls behaviours

  • I have seen about 20 fools of doctors and still meet doctors who have never heard of my condition or know what my condition is or how to describe it. So this person stab in the dark telling me exactly what was wrong with me before i found out 3yrs later is pretty weird to say the least. As for info people give out thats true but seeing i didn't know what I had nor displayed the normal symptoms I would be hard pressed to give the psychic information to guess with. Just saying - freaky.

  • i agree its freaky

  • oldbag :while i agree with what you said your use of the word physics(fizz-icks) instead of psychics (sike-icks) was quite funny. I wouldnt usually comment on grammar or spelling because it s unimportant really as long as the message is conveyed ,but i've made an exception this once . Peace out

  • plural on doctors you think I just saw one? i saw the best doctors in the state in several different fields. Unfortunately with all the combined knowledge they had to offer they could not come up with anything. If i believed there was nothing wrong with me I would be dead. Basically $10 for the psychic god knows how many thousands for the doctors over 6 years - the psych seems to have a better average in guessing whats wrong with me apparently.

  • kirafaye : so after meeting a range of psychics one turned out to be accurate , well it was only a matter of time then wasnt it.Things that are "freaky" have a statistical probability of happening and do happen all the time to someone somewhere every day.I once walked past a ringing phone box i answered it and it was for me freaky eh!And you obviously want to believe because you keep going back for more ,i'm all for keeping an open mind but if you open your mind too much your brain will fall out

  • Stupidity and Gullibility are not a rare condition.

  • Having one freaky experience is not being stupid or gullible I was just interested because my mother went to them all the time and i tried it out and there was a freaky occurrence which i thought i would share with what I assumed was intelligent people - how stupid i was to believe intelligent people would respond.

  • You weren't looking for intelligent people to respond, just people that share a similar delusion.

  • What delusion are you able to read my mind and understand what I do and do not believe in? Where did I ever say I believed it 100%? I just said I had a freaky occurrence when seeing one that's all. Please read before flaming.

  • I feel sorry for sharing - I would have thought people here may have been interested seeing they were watching this whether they were skeptic or true believers I am just telling you my experience that was freaky - be nice.

  • Kiafaye, I am very much a skeptic. You must understand that you are giving very vague information over a medium in which anonymity helps people say anything.

  • Oh I do understand, there is only so much you can say via this medium. My main point is 2 psychics of 3 I have seen said something that was extremely accurate to my life before I learnt about it. It was freaky an enough for me to at least be open and look for answers instead of being close minded just saying no because everyone else has. I like to keep an open mind. I am a scientist by study and trade so am very looking for natural plausible answers.

  • @kirafaye lies

  • 3:00 - Jock trying to sound smart.

  • teehee yeah.. *rolls eyes*

  • I hate to be mean but the guy at 3:15 really should have kept his mouth shut. I can't blame for feeling intellectually intimidated, but with how aggressive, and defensive he was acting at the same time it made him appear ......... handicapped. To top it off he looked like he wanted to kill Randi for saying Santa isn't real. I bet the guy was thinking "if Santa isn't real whose lap did I sit on last Christmas?"

  • Probably he was just thinking how to produce some clever points to santas existence.

Oh, and, now he`s got ONE option:

    to become a politician.

Everything else would be a failure.

  • if you prove randy wrong, he'll give you a million dollars, though he just said in this video, that is impossible to prove or disprove anything, so maybe if it seems reasonable to him to a 51% degree that you have some psychic skill he'll give you a million dollars, maybe he could give me that million dollars, if i ever manage to contact him.

  • he said you cant disprove a negative, meaning that its up to the person who made the claim to prove it, not the person who hears of the claim to disprove it.

  • sry,i meant that he said you cant prove a negative.

  • There are easy tests that can be passed. For instance on his BBC show he had a guy on that said he could find precious metals. Randy simply hid some precious metals under a cover with two other covers. If this guy could pick the correct cover more than 1/3 the time, that would be proof that he could somehow do it. The thing is that no one that claims he should be able to do something like this has ever shown it or they would have Randi's million dollars.

  • she was dominated by her mother -- kinky

  • Well, you know, family that plays together stays together.

  • its not 'cynical' to not believe in unproven untestable ideas. It is skeptical.

when you say someone is cynical against what you believe , you are saying that what you believe is the opposite of it.

clinical, logical or skeptical. all things that helped human beings break free of delusion and advance as a race. those should never be allowed to be made a curseword or a negative.

you are not negative for disbelieving others delusions or made up fairy tales. they are for abandoning logic

  • I was gonna write what you wrote, but you beat me too it......

Yeah i agree with everything youve said, the amount of people that have called me cynical is unbelievable, and it really fucking annoys me!!!!

I hate ignorant people like that.....im not cynical or close-minded at all, quite the opposite in fact....

  • very true. religious people questioning scientific facts and and scientific laws that have been proven correct 10000 times over 100 years, you are not being open minded, you are wasting time being skeptical about the wrong things so you can hold on to your predetermined delusions.

also ,why do the delusionals demand mountains of evidence from science and nit pick tiny issues in it and ask NOTHING from their own beliefs which have absolutely none?

  • Look at the guys expression at 3:36. He probably thinks: "How dare you say, Santa Claus isnt real!"

  • Mr. Randi is a legend. His message is still being carried by other honest magicians. One of them is Derren Brown.

  • That idiotic "Vanilla Ice" wannabee got owned and he wasn't man enough to admit it. Jerk.

  • drr drr 2+2= apple....he had no idea what was going on or how it worked so he resorted to irrational explanations and ideas...

  • to reply to retsced....I think ya got it! lol btw the whole astro test was funny

  • Short, sweet, and to the point. =]

  • Well said.

  • @retsced calling someoen an idiot based on their beliefs is pretty condescending there bud... not picking on u personally but many people do this and its disappointing. If you can't completely disprove it then its still possible that anything exists.

  • @retsced People fail to see the connection between God and science :)

  • @phumsquacken Ofcourse, because Creationism is science, young earth creationism is science, as it says in the bible, bats are mammals, the earth was created in 7 days, there is a heaven and hell. Because all of that has been proven by science, ofcourse!

  • @retsced M

  • @retsced Cool story bro.

  • wtf?....are you ok?..like in the head?

  • i think james randi is right people have a hard time getting over this stuff beacuse i think people are afraid. if these parlor tricks are fakle what else could be fake maybe god i love watching weak people fumble around in the dark because their stuipd little worlds are destroyed

  • haha yes its what makes the world(reality) fun for the rest of us.

  • Jeez... that one guy in the class complaining about the astrology experiment needs to stick to his frat parties, beer, and football, and leave the thinking to the rest of us.

    Randi rules.

  • I agree

  • @JoshSitar He was absolutely right. If neither can be firmly proven, it is important to keep true to your opinions and be skeptical in any case. He was not complaining, he was forming an opposite arguement, a very smart thing to do in a professional class.

  • @JoshSitar

no gray scale there in the binary idiot or not system?

Ambiguously worded fortune cookie style communication can be easily dismissed. I am wondering though how Mr Skeptic will explain the earring moving from a womans ear to her hand in an instant. I was talking to her and we both saw it happen. Love to see that get recreated for you tube.

  • @JoshSitar I wonder what happened to that party guy, he is in his 40s now

  • @JoshSitar When I saw that final shot at 3:46, all I could think of was revenge of the nerds.

  • I love James Randi--he's awesome. However, I don't think he debunked astrology very well.

  • That was only about a five-minute clip. You have no idea what else what said during that lecture.

  • Yeah, then why don't you tell me, huh?

  • How can I tell you?! I have no idea what else was said. My point was that we don't know all the information to make a balanced conclusion! Your comment is absurd!!

  • Sorry, I was not in a good mood. I should have went with what I was originally going to say: Do you know about astrology? I don't mean the bit about stars influencing our personalities, I mean the actual "math" or definitions of all of its components and all of the components themselves. As much as I think James Randi has done a great job debunking things, I really don't think he can debunk astrology in a lecture that may be 30 minutes or even 2 hours.

  • (cont'd)

It's also not about predicting the future or anything psychic. Without the "stars influence us using their energy" bit, it's basically an interesting science that relates to math and psychology.

How and why it works is a mystery. But if James Randi could go more into detail and really prove it, which would probably require more than this lecture, I'd be willing to listen. And, hey, he just might. (Not that it won't be interesting still.)

  • Work and study hard people. These people are lazy. They just want to sit there and talk nonsense and strip you off of money. If you believe in something. Believe in yourself first. If you believe in God. Have a personal relationship with ur God. Dont get fooled easily.

  • thank you sir god bless you ;-) I love bustin all these fake religious men too.. I already caught many..fortune tellers who say I m going to pass my college exam while i have already finished :-)
