the f22 was made to combat the Russian Su-27 and the MiG 25. With all the technology that the f22 has it will be in service for a long time. The super hornet is a redone f-18 hornet. Both have been used during the 20th century and both will stay in service for a long time.

this is the reason the f22 fleet av been downsize to just 185 jets,its bcoz the f15 n f18 will be upgraded to av a Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) to go wit the new AIM-9X missile for a off-boresight capability,who needs thrust vectoring if you av that,its also been upgraded wit a new radar,jamming system n the new AIM-120D missile for a unmatch beyond visual range combat capability,after this upgrades,this jets will still be in service for the next 20 yrs..

Slopmaster, you're obviously not an F/A-18E/F pilot because if you were...you wouldn't be looking to trade your Super Hornet in on anything else. The addition of more powerful engines, bigger payload, off-boresight AIM-9X capability and combination of MFD's make this weapon system more than you'll ever need. They are far from junk! Get a clue.

Well junk was rather strong i admit and after further research the handling aspect is near if not at the top of the fighter world.Aveonics are top notch.Got to see one pushed to its limit.Top speed is still average.Slowest plane since the crusader.And it will not out accelerate the c model hornet.

thats not a super hornet. that one has round inlets. the super hornet has square inlets and has wider wingspan.

Hmmm, if you scroll to about 2:00 on this video where he performs the minimum radius turn, or if you scroll to 10:00 where he is on the ground and taxiing, I think you'll be able to notice the square shaped inlets and wingspan.

yes we do...besides, in a fight with western powers it would depend on who has better avionics.

But what about pure aerodynamics? In the dogfight mode the SU-27,MIG-29M family of fighters would kill an F-18 Super Hornet. The T/W Ratio on the MiG and SU family is awesome. The Super Hornet can't even sustain a pure vertical takeoff. You know why because it does not have a superior thrust to weight ratio, you know that!! Don't get me wrong I like the Super Hornet,but as a dogfighter only I think it would get killed.

Yeah as far as I know you're correct, but GE is in the process of upgrading the engines' thrust by 30%, and as for it's maneuverability, from what I've seen the SU-27 family and the MIG-29 family is more maneuverable

Maybe using the word pig is too exstream because the Super Hornet is a maneuverable fighter. I like the the last FA/18CD for the Kuwait Air Force they had upgraded F-404s with 18+ LBS Per Engine. Hey Tommy where did you hear about the 30% GE upgrade??

It's been flying around as purely a rumor for about a year now, but just recently I found it on congress's website as a bill for more funding to be allocated to the navy as part of an F/A-18 E&F upgrade program...so we'll see

...but I've heard many of it's pilots swear it has extreme maneuverability saying it can outmaneuver any other fighter in the world, including the SU-37 and the F-22(both of which have thrust-vectoring, and the F-18 doesn't). So I don't know, maybe the plane can do more stuff than we can see on here. But again, as far as I know you're correct.

The F-15 is superior in every way to the F-18, Super or not. About the only thing the F-18 can do that the F-15 cannot do better is take off and land on a carrier.

I Diss Agree.Check all Spec Books, it wil tel F18 has beter T:W ratio. and handels better at low speed. and they both get the same G's. F18 is the first Jet To Shoot down enemy jets and attack Ground targets in the same mission. i don't see the Same F15 doing that. Sec. F15 is best at long rang and tactical warfare.. but when shit hits the fan(Dog Fight) F15 might be a handfull. Ask The Russians what they hate most.... F15 or F18. and think big....wat plane can do all... and at best!

Because of that it has to be designed to structurally handle the impact of a catapult and trap. This means a significant amount of extra weight which equals a thrust to weight not as good as the Eagle...but other than that, the Rhino (superhornet) has much higher nose authority and maneuverability. Granted it's energy addition isn't as high after bleeding it off with such a

If you're talking radars, the Rhino's carrying the AESA, the same as the new Eagles. See you're not taking into account, the AF has different versions of the 15 for A/A, A/G, so when you make one version specialize in one area it will of course be superior. But the hornet/rhino my friend has to do it all...oh and land on the ship.So it is the Hornet/its pilots that are far superior

@Antiworld23 Are you kidding? The F-18 superhornet has lower maintenance and updated software for multi role missions. Its modified structure gives it a lower radar signiture than the ealge and the last time i checked, the eagle does not has AESA and the Superhornet does.

that's so wierd, every super hornet demo i have seen, (in real life and on youtube), they do the same thing to start, they take-off, do a flip with the wheels down, and then put them back up, when turning back around, and fly away.
