  • Titi i love your acive gut, you are really wonderful..........

  • 5 people are jamaicans

  • @klook LMAO!

  • @klook That's O.D. I don't get it.

  • great job, i'm truly impressed, i would like to know what the motivation was

  • I'm half Igbo, but was never taught the language. You give me hope that maybe someday I could learn it :)

  • Hey.. U can make the fortune out of Nigeria with this... I love this video...

  • Hey.. U can make the fortune out of Nigeria with this... I love this video...

  • I will like to ask. What motivated you to learn Yoruba language? Any association with Yoruba tribesman before your decision? kudos to you, you have really tried. O ti han gbangba pe omo oko ni iwo je.

  • Titilayo, ummmmm mo gba fun e joo..... owo re yio ma roke oooo, ati wipe awon omo ti o fun ni bata, ori wan yio ma su re fun o titi lai lai.

  • Wow! That is really impressive! Keep up the good work!

  • Will You Marry Me.... My Mother Will Like!! xxxxxx

  • Bawo ni Titi, Nibo ni o ba eko ede Yoruba e de? ati pe kin ni idi ti o fin ko ede eko ninu ede Yoruba?

  • Titi..I am officially one of your greatest audience!! All power to you for learning a language that I struggled to pass in class as a yoruba man.lol. I think u might b more fluent than me now...and thats a shame.hehe

  • I love this Woman. she is really clever. I'm a fan. Keep it up. God bless.

  • Wow! You speak the proper yoruba language which most people can not do anymore, we kind of combine english in every saying now. It is unfortunate that your American accent is so strong it does not allow your hard work to be heard but some of us hear it. Very good work!!

  • I am illuminating with pride as I watch this video, I am a nigerian (male) currently studying in Connecticut n I have my family back in nigeria (lagos) my youngest sister goes to university of ibadan. This is so different and can at its minimum be defined as beautiful. I have never seen an american speak the yoruba language, u dont have the accent but that is in no way your fault. I will be following your blog and u officially have a fan in Connecticut !!!

  • Keep it up Cara. I saw all the boys blushing for you and going wild because you galvanize their enthusiasm.

  • Yoruba is a very difficult language to learn for non-natives. The intonation cannot be ignored. A single word can have many meanings, depending on how it's pronounced.

Take the word - owo. It could mean any of the following:

    hand

    respect

    broom

    money

    trade (career)

    crooked

Furthermore, Yoruba has a unique pronunciation for the letter 'p'. Don't pronounce it the English way. Learn to pronounce that letter properly, and you'd go further in speaking Yoruba. Just listen to native speakers.

  • Not sure I can speak as much Yoruba as you and I am Yoruba....lol. I learnt the word "ferese" in your other video......I didnt know what it meant prior to watching it. I can't wait to forward the video to my friends and family. I have watched almost all your videos .......impressive!!! Keep it up girl! You rock!!! By the way - Don't be discouraged by negative comments..... I personally feel you are on the right path to learning and speaking the language perfectly. Way to go girl!!!

  • Titi, am amazed and short of words; o je iya lenu funmi wipe o nso yoruba ju awon omo yoruba gan lo. Can I get to know you or have your email contacts, o'se.

  • WOW GIRL KUDOUS 2 U I AM YORUBA AND LEST JUST SAY U ARE BETTA THAN ME.. I LOVE THIS

  • she's good!!!!!!!

  • Am not impressed cos we travel to the so called oyinbo country and they mock us alot because of our accent so why should I or anybody give credits to her? The long term effect of this is infiltration of our culture with western sentiments. Am not racist but anyone who've lived abroad for sometime will understand where am coming from...pele o titit?!

  • @sholly79 you are talking crap darling. absolute drivel. who told you to travel to the oyibo country? the effect on you is that your english is razz and your yoruba is diluted. but don't take this personally. you are completely entitled to your own opinion

  • Hi Cara/Titilayo! I am highly impressed at how fluent you're able to speak the language, u're really speaking some ijinle yoruba. I'm curious though...why yoruba? Well done dear....Adura mi fun e ni wipe, oloun a je ki o se ase yori and may it be all that you hoped for and much more. Blessings to you and have loads of fun in naija!

  • U do an awesome job with your broad vocabulary keep it up.

  • welldone girl...i'm soooooooooooo impressed

  • nice!!!!

  • this is awesome!!! but titilayo, why do you choose to learn the yoruba language and its culture? are you half nigerian, and what is the yoruba lectures like in ur UNI in US compare to UI?

  • Titilayo, it is beautiful to hear you speak Yoruba. I went to school at UI. Am happy that you have such interest in my langauge. You do well.

    Femi

  • Meh, now you make me wish I spoke yoruba more often.

  • OMG...Did she just say 'ibasepo' and 'padanu' and 'iriri' and 'ireti' and 'erogba'? I am so freaking impressed...not many young Yoruba people know as many words as this. The Yoruba program at UW must be really good. Good luck, chick!

  • Titi what Ur Name On Face book, will Like to add u...Proud of U Girl

  • woww! you're really good. why did decide to learn Yoruba?

  • This is so encouraging for me... im nigerian but has lived in the United Kingdom all my life and only recently decided to start learning my Mother language (Yoruba) Its so hard, nd ive only just mastered the accent but the language itself is truly a challenge but im getting there "By Gods Grace " lol thanks a lot for this video

  • im SUPER JEALOUS!!! im Nigerian but i was born in the US n i cant even get the accent right let alone the actual words! SMH!!!

  • An igbo clicked dislike twice smh

  • @lollypopalling what makes u think it's an igbo person? dats how u people start tribal wars.

  • @lollypopalling dat is how u people start tribal war, y did u v to bring igbo into this matter?

  • wow im yoruba and im not even so great! im proud!

  • Keep it going girl...We love you and we will give you all the support you want....Goodluck TITILAYO TITILOPE

  • Mo ti gbo ko te yin so. Your yoruba is better than mine, except you have a strong accent. Nibo le ti wa?

  • oh dats great Titi, though u reading from a book, but great work. awesome.

  • i am impresses Titi all the way from cold cold madison to the warmth of Eko megacity . great effort reflecting in your warmth and and brilliance of purpose. Well done . Am glad you tasted the sweetness of the yoruba culture first hand

  • Ca you visit me to Ibadan? or to Germany? We can act a movie together.

  • O ju ti mi pe mo je moo Yoruba and she did brilliantly. Am impressed and yet we have yoruba's like me who can't even speak that well

  • why do people mcomplain of her accent? Do you know that when many nigerians speak english most english people can't understand them eventho they speak good english? Because we have accents and so do everybody that try to speak in another tongue different from their native tongue. Titilayo speak correct yoruba grammar that are lacking in many yoruba comments I read here. Many of the so called yorubas here speak coloquial yoruba with some slangs. Well done Titi Cara!

  • @omoibile its because yoruba is a tonal language, and if u have the wrong tone on a word you can be saying something completely different. English is different, if you have the wrong tone on a word in english, is will just sound weird but it will still be the same word. I still admire her, and i understood what she said. I just wanted to explain why we are so particular about the accent.

  • @UncleRed1234567 : Good point!

  • E se pupo! This is a perfect yoruba grammar that most yoruba speaking people can't speak again. I know good yoruba grammar are spoken in Ibadan and in Republic of Benin (another country in West Africa)

  • Titi...........inu mi dun lati ri blog yi. Oluwa a ran e lowo. You are a pride to our nation, the Yoruba origins and myself in particular. O ku ise gidigidi, o ko ni sise ni agbara Olorun. I am speechless................

  • @ Woletall Tell that nasty Mrs Plastersin or whatever she calls herself!

Keep up the good work titilayo. the meaning of that name will have an impact in your life. Thank you for making our language special!!!!

  • You make me feel stupid because even though I'm of a different tribe, I should be able to speak the Yoruba language since I lived in Yoruba land for 15 years. Best wishes in Nigeria n please stay SAFE.

  • I am proud of this Titilayo, many Yoruba descendants have no knowledge of there dialect.

  • Boy! You are so determined. Ku ise o. Oluwa a mu e bori. Bi o se beere, Oluwa a mu e pari e layo o. Keep it up!! i am still speechless!!!

Nigerians are very warm and receptive people, so I hope you enjoy your stay in Nigeria very much and that your learning experience will be a very positive and memorable one.

Btw your ability to speak Yoruba and even use words some of us don't use in our regular conversations is highly commendable.

  • Emm So What If She Speaks Yoruba? When A Yoruba Person Speaks English Noone Gives A Fuck. Why Do Yall Care if An American Speaks Yoruba?

  • @MrsPlastersin

When a white man runs for president of America, no one, to use your flowery language, "gives a f*@?". Why did you all care when a black man ran for president?

...and so the point you were making was?

  • @woletall Why are you being so rude, leave her alone. Welldone Titi keep up the hard work and welldone for your fluency in Yoruba:)

  • i love u cara!!!!

  • Simply amazing, here's someone that isn't from Nigeria but is doing an excellent job at learning Yoruba. Hopefully younger generations of Nigerians would learn from you and learn their language because it's beautiful and so are you. Ku ise.

  • If I had to score the communication skills to pronounce each word, I will give her 9 out of 10 percentile, cuz she tried n all the best in your Nigerian experience. I know you will love your experience

  • oh boy u go fear fear.can u also speak pidgin?

  • very good job.. good to see this

  • Wow, this is fantastic! Like anyone learning a second language you have acquired quite a bit of the vocabulary (your choice of words are by no means pedestrian!). Believe me, a lot of the younger yorubas don't speak this well! I grew up in Ibadan and i know you wouldn't have a hard time getting around or settling in there. Lagos is another matter (like NYC, can be chaotic).

I hope u achieve your goals for the visit to 9ja - as we Nigerians refer to our fatherland- and have an awesome as well.
