That would be a little thing called "matrixing." Your mind tries to make sense of what it sees, thus it tells you you're seeing what you want to see. The brain searches for familiar images and places them when an undefinable object pops up that resembles an image stored in your brain. This is why deeply religious people see Mary or Jesus in a lot of stuff when in fact, the image is not that of either of the two.
