Awesome song! I jus heard it for the 1st time yesterday and was wanting to learn it to share in my Church some time. Unfortunately I won't be able to pull off the 4th finger embellishments but I'll try play with the regular chord shapes. Thanx for the great lesson. :-)
I just found this while working on this song for my Youth Worship Band. Thanks so much for the really great tutorial setup with the chording and the strum pattern. This is a great setup! Keep it up... I'll definitely be back.
the way youre playing some chords compared to what the paper you are showing is. is that some of the chords you are playing are slash chords. also so no one gets confused. in the paper that the vid is showing. its just the "chord shapes" that are being played. its not necessarily that actual chords that are being played.
@lovescarguitar Yes and no. Some of the chords are true to the chord but just played in an unconventional way. Other chords are substitute slash chords that are very common, like G/E in place of Em (which really just ends up being an Em7). I have a few lessons going over this type of thing on my site---when you can replace chords, when you shouldn't etc. mainly in the "Essentials Series."
@guitarmannvideos i was referring to the chord shapes. i actually had a very much longer statement written out but i just erased it. because im not looking to argue. got quite a bit of a headache right now and am just not in the mood to argue. so no worries. good lesson either way. keep em coming
@DancingThroughLife00 The picking pattern at the beginning is a little complicated--as you are plucking individual strings as you play. You can see what strings those are if you look closely at the right hand box in the video. The high string (the 2nd string) is plucked up, while the lower strings are plucked down. The strum pattern is built off of constant 8th note down strums. Once your hand is in this rhythm, you can mix in some up strums every now and then as well!
THANK YOU!!!! :D
