is it just me or does it just piss me off when a guitar part requires a floating trem and the person doing all the leads is using a les paul and sounds like shit. dime used alot of trem vibrato for his leads not to mention the high pich harmoic squeals you cant simulate without a trem. great cover its amazing to see rex playing the old stuff but the guy with the les paul is an asshole.
@terrorking01 I appreciate the comment, but as for the guitar player being a asshole for playing a les paul. I know Ben and he is a great guy, this show wasnt about Pantera. It was about Rex's new band "ARMS OF THE SUN" I work for Terry and Lord Tracy and he was asked by Rex a few days before to perform two old songs. There were no rehearsals before hand. I think you got to give them credit for pulling it off so well.
@terrorking01 No your alright I was pointing out that it was a Arms of the Sun show. They werent trying to do a whole Pantera show, then I wouldve had to agree with you. Terry happen to be in town at the time and as Arms of theSun Tour manager Rex asked if I would have Terry call him. I was also Terry's bestman. so it was a win win situation for all of us.
@stubbyquan I was simply voicing my opinion on the video towards guitarist doing covers of songs that require trem systems. My opinion was very harsh because i see alot of people doing the same thing over and over. I agree hes an amazing player very good job. Not knowing he was asked by Rex a few days before to perform two old songs I was very quick to judge.
and i still have my projects in the jungle cutoff t-shirt that dime set me up with in 1984 and I CAN STILL FIT INTO IT!!! ;) pantera in the club daze could easily flatten most of whats out there today!
@GypsyBlue1420 I came thru the area in a band called Lethal Dose from So. Calif. We had heard about the scene from the guys in Sweet Savage, whom we played with in El Lay. This was late 85' early 86', laterz
takes me back to woodstock in harker heights tx 5nights in a row and no sleep at fort hood the following day best time of my life good 2 see terry rex and vinnie still at it 25years later i miss u dime great times:(
@notuern Oh I know...that was pretty much my same point. Terry's a great guitar player. I have an guitar mag where Rita talks about Terry and Dime being the guitar players as well.
Having worked with Terry (Lord Tracy) recently, I can say honestly, he's underrated as a musician as well.
And yeah, totally agree.. in fact, i think Phil is kind of overrated, because he couldnt perform live for shit(Faulty technique probably.), but the live stuff with Terry sounds amazing.
@notuern I originally was going to be just a tech for a recent show at the House of Blues (Dallas)....then I was asked to get an act together to fill a slot that was left open but they decided to leave it open. I ended up being Terry's tech, and that turned into teching pretty much for the whole band. Look at my page I uploaded the bass solo from that show.
Terry's vocals and guitar playing have always been spot on.
Terrys voice is still awesome

@DarkAsTheNight pretty much true... But, terry did play as well back in the day with Dime.

@DarkAsTheNight Pantera started off as a 2 guitar band. There's pictures of Phil after he joined with a guitar in hand.

@RokDAWG1
He rarely played the guitar though, but Terry played in most songs back in the day. :)
