Marilyn wrote that this song was inspired by him attending the funeral of a relative after he was proclaimed The Great Satan in '96-97, etc... he was gothed out, which was appropriate for a funeral, but, his whole family treated him like "The Man that you Fear" even as they knew him as boy. It unsettled him. And isolated him. I understand.
A similar incident occured with Alice Cooper in the '70's that inspired, "No More Mr. Nice Guy"... look it up..
When this album came out I thought it was amazing that he was saying exactly what needed to be said, But because he was the one saying it no one wanted to listen. I have always thought that if the people in this world would listen to what he has to say our society wouldn't be so fucked up. I remember how crazy it was for him when this album was made. It was like all of America was against him, and he had his army. In that situation he proved only one of his many points. He is a genious.

The Christians protesting at his concerts in the past and present don't understand Manson at all. They just fear him and really should look into the meanings of his lyrics. Ive heard other places that none of the stuff he wrote about his life is true, and that its all about his persona of Marilyn Manson, which I think is fascinating, I just don't know if it's true or not.
A little bit of it is fabricated, but most of it is true, as far as I know.
As for the book itself, you should give it a try. Even if you're not a reader, the stuff in it it truly gripping. I must have read it 6 or 7 times by now.

Yeah, I really want to read it. Generally I can finish things if theyre of interest to me. But I lose interest fast.
Example, ive been reading 1984, fucking incredible book, but im halfway through it, and ive lost interest in reading the rest already.
