I was so freaked out. . . but it works just fine, just cracks in the glass on the sides, no dead pixels, the cracks don't interfere with the viewing. There are some scuff marks, and, like yours, my DVD/CD drive has a frowny face. But yeah. . . thanks to the aluminum case. . . go Macs!

I took it in. They told me 2 to 4 weeks MINIMUM. The Apple Genius told me that I had a lemon - that they're rare, but he sees them - MacBooks that are just all screwed up. He said if HE had the power he'd replace it, but he just works there and can't. I make my living doing design and layout and can't be without it for two weeks. It's lame. I have the MAXIMUM Apple Care Warranty and it says they'll replace it if they can't fix it, but they won't. Love Mac. Apple Service SUCKS rocks.
Gee...my MacBook never got run over and has never worked right...had to replace the hard drive, needs the optical drive and fan and other major components replaced...but Apple wants to hold on to it for a month...no replacement or loaner - even with the 3-year top of the line warranty that cost almost as much as a new computer....I got a LEMON. I used to love Mac, but the service sucks. Maybe I should run over mine with a Subaru...

Who said I donate cash money to charity? I donate my time (it's called "volunteering") and clothes and household items to them. Although I've got a Macbook pro now as well (and take very good care of it haha), a few years ago I had a stinking big acer 17" laptop and it was run over by a friend's honda accord. The only damage suffered was a small dark spot in the middle. I proceeded to use it for 2 more years. lol....

I have the MAXIMUM Apple Care Warranty and it says they'll replace it if they can't fix it, but they won't. Love Mac. Apple Service SUCKS rocks.

Gee...my MacBook never got run over and has never worked right...had to replace the hard drive, needs the optical drive and fan and other major components replaced...but Apple wants to hold on to it for a month...no replacement or loaner - even with the 3-year top of the line warranty that cost almost as much as a new computer....I got a LEMON. I used to love Mac, but the service sucks. Maybe I should run over mine with a Subaru...

Why isnt it covered under the warranty?? And it shouldnt take a month.. just take it to an authorized Apple repair center, let then diagnose it and order the parts, then you drop it off when they arrive... should be done in 2 days!

Who said I donate cash money to charity? I donate my time (it's called "volunteering") and clothes and household items to them. I also do the majority of my shopping at charity stores which helps them raise money. I'm too poor to be able to donate cash money to charity. But I do what I can. That's certainly more than you do. Also, I put money into what's called a "savings account" (I'm sure you've never heard of one, huh?) so I have a big pile of money I can dip into if I need to pay for something suddenly that comes up such as to loan to my mother to pay her mortgage so she doesn't lose her home to foreclosure while she is waiting for her disability payments to come through in a few weeks. Before you blab about you paying her to sit around, she has paid into social security all her life so she paid for it.

Although I've got a Macbook pro now as well (and take very good care of it haha), a few years ago I had a stinking big acer 17" laptop and it was run over by a friend's honda accord. The only damage suffered was a small dark spot in the middle. I proceeded to use it for 2 more years. lol....
