There is an interview with Guff on 'Read Junk' where he talks about making this and what a great guy, tremendous producer, and generous fellow artist Steve is. I like the original version that is on Trial By Fire better. Steve Perry should not be singing backup for anyone! I do like the fact that we can hear that fantstic voice again though!! I'll take it any way I can get it. Keeping my fingers crossed that his new cd will be here in 2010 as stated by others and hopefully some type of tour along with it, even if just like in 94 where he played smaller venues.

Guff is from Athens, GA which is where I live and I've seen Guff play a few times, and my Son who knows them personally because he's in a band as well is the one who told me because he know's I'm THE NO. 1 Steve Perry FAN!! You can tell his voice has changed a little, but it is definitely him.

sunryse1:  It's been going around among Steve Perry fans, and I don't recall exactly where it started, but I read it somewhere myself. I believe he hinted at in a recent interview. I can't say that it's 100% true, but I am pretty darn sure it is.. and if it's not, he will still release something within the next couple of years because he has said himself that he'd been recording stuff he wants to release.

I believe I read it in an interview in an article in a guitar oriented magazine. It was likely soon after things fell apart after the reunion for "Trial By Fire". I wish I could cite the exact magazine for you. I just know that I own it (somewhere) and KISS is likely on the cover (the reason why I own it).

That's a great point about seeing them/ SP live and is a major reason why for every diehard J fan there are 3 or 4 from back-in-the-day who have since walked away. Having seen them live in their Hay Daze and seeing/ hearing what they've been up to over the last few years (and the stunts they pulled to keep the Gravy Train rolling) comparisons can be made. But for me, there are none.
