I was nervous going into this movie--It was Disney's first CGI prince-and-princess fairy tale movie, and I was expecting a Shrek look-alike, and was ticked at the title change from "Rapunzel" to "Tangled." Thank God I was wrong! This is the best animated feature Disney has made since "Beauty and the Beast"! The writing was beautiful, the self-sacrifice ending was beautiful, the main characters were gorgeous in looks and voices, and I'm going to buy the 4-disc edition of "Tangled"!

I think this could have been a classic in 2D format (this was the PERFECT opportunity), but many people are distracted by the great computer graphics in this film (or Flynn Rider for reasons I truly don't understand)... What you have to look out for is interesting plots (heck, they can even be the same plot as other films) but developed in an interesting way, and with (and this is extremely important nowadays) well-developed characters. You will know a story is good if the characters were interesting and deep, not some pretty or funny or ugly design which sings beautifully or makes bad jokes/hurts himself or is just plain evil because it is. Because people don't like that anymore, and neither do you.

It really seems like Disney has at last found thier stride with CG-Animation. Let's face it, thier previous attempts away from Pixar were...rather terrible. I won't name names. Needless to say, with Pixar now close once again, and the successes they've had with the Tinkerbell series (a mix of great CG-Work and Story-telling) Disney is ready to bring that amazing talent for Animated Fables into the 21st century. Should they abandon the old style? No. But, this looks like an amazing step foward.

Seriously, I'm sick of all of you complaining it should be in 2D cause they stopped doing it because of the box office failure of home on the range so later, they use average CGI films so if it was on 2D, it will fail but besides it's the other film companies fault for making CGI films for the children so they made a fairy tale CGI film which the animation is based on a painting and this is what exactly walt Disney wanted if he was still alive and during the time that 2D animation died

@blahbillo Unlike some people like Mozart003 I know how to move on and adapt to the new. So 2D is almost no more and CGI and computers are the newest thing for animated movies. I'm totally cool with that. Rapunzel was planned to be 3D in the first place. Every movie has its atmosphere in which it works best with. "The Dark Knigh" in live-action, "Coraline" in stop-motion, "The Princess and the Frog" in 2D and "Tangled" in computer CGI. After seeing the trailers CGI instead of 2D wasn't a mistake
