  • Retired AF E-8 - I flew the 141 many times - good aircraft - better pilots.

  • C-17 is awesome, but don't count out the 141 starlifter.

  • 0:40 ...starlifter is longer ?

  • I PREFER GALAXY C-5 !!!

  • When I was a kid, my dad went from Lowry AFB to Woomera in the middle of Aussie. Had to fly on a 141 out of Travis to get there. Took us about a week. What a unique experience. Very loud inside. What a beautiful plane.

  • at 0:08 what are the two planes to the left of the C-141,, ist one looks liek a c-47?

  • @jbswdd it appears that the one next to the starlifter is C-47 and the other is an F-4 phantom

  • C-141 Starlifter did a barrel role over the USAF general. Who here remembers that

  • I've parachuted from both of those.

  • I like the C-141 more than the B-15

  • C141, beautiful.

  • c141 burns little dirty smoke vs c17

  • the c17, c141 and the c5 all look alike. anyone else agree?

  • Oh definitely. I'm just saying they have a resemblance. They aren't the same at all. I would have said the Ilyushin 76 too but that is Russian and has windows below the cockpit. You are right.

  • @Finalflash50 Yes, I agree. I just posted a comment on another C-141 video that said I love the design of the C-141 and thankfully it was kept alive with the C-17 and the C5A Galaxy. Obviously different planes, but they have definite similarities.

  • I haven't seen a '17 up close yet. I did walk in a C-5 at an air show at Scott AFB and wonder how in the hell something that big got off the ground. It's like when you see the Grand Canyon for the first time. You feel very, very tiny.

  • Is the biggest reason why they switched from the Starlifter to the Globemaster because of the tank carrying issue? My memory must be fading, and I don't feel like going to wikipedia to find out. Yes, I am lazy.

  • lol. i've ridden both of these.

    From Japan to the states.

Now THAT'S the way to fly. :D

  • My mom, my sis and I rode a '141 from Travis to the middle of Aussie. Most unique trip I've ever been on.

  • cool!!!!!

  • LOL...the coolest part was arriving in Woomera and the crowd giving us a standing ovation because it took so damn long for us to get there. We got delayed in NZ for a few days because they were having landing gear issues. Pretty unique perspective, sitting in the back of the plane, facing backwards, with the two portholes the only way to see outside. Oh yeah...and having to wear earplugs the entire way...and the food...and the travelling. Got to love Uncle Sam paying our way, eh?

  • lol.

    yeah!

    the backwards seating,

the fact that I got to ride on my favorite aircraft...

    for free!

god, I love being a military child. I'm actually going in, myself. to be a loadmaster. :)

  • I think it cost us $5 per one way. We could afford it.

When we flew there, at one point they forgot food so we all had to eat potato chips. Then they forgot plasticware, so we had to eat with coffee stirrers. Got to love the improvise, adapt, overcome attitude. I need to marry me a military gal. Then I can have the chance to go on these rides all over again! I don't care how much of a pain in the ass they are, transport planes rock.

  • lol!

    yeah!

I don't remember much about my rides on military planes.

I just remember being out on the freezing cold flightline EARLY in the morning and boarding inside HUGE LOUD SHADOWS. :)

but yeah. that's why I can't wait to go in the Air Force. I'm going to be a loadmaster so I'll be dealing with them all the time. :)

  • Great Video. I was a pilot on the C-141 for 5 years at Charleston AFB. She was a great bird and I flew her all over the world.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. I was a flight engineer on the C-141 for 15 years at Charleston, AFB. She was a wonderful aircraft to fly on. I flew many missions around the world on it and it always performed great.

  • One could have made jokes on the heavier (and wider) C-17 replacing the C-141 to, both symbolic and functionally, accomodate the increased "carriage" of today's Americans

or said in another way: "The Air Force just got fatter"

.....but we'll leave it be ;)

  • C-17 looks fat and C-141 looks skinny!

    :)

  • another cool flyby was at Travis AFB. it was a P-51 Mustang and an F-16

  • They did the same thing at the Southern WI Airfest in Janesville, WI last summer. Awesome sight! I had a chance to see a P-51, an F-4, and an F-15 when I was in Sioux Falls a few years ago, but I didn't get to see it up close. Man, do I miss air shows! I can't wait to see the Thunderbirds TWICE this year.

  • man seeing these clips makes me wish i never got out

  • the C 17 has replace the C 141

  • c-141, Rest in Peace.

  • historic video!

  • Beautiful...sad to see it gone...

  • Oh how i miss the C-141.

And the Penis jokes that went along with it.

  • I miss the 141 too....... Ohh yeah and the Penis jokes. Such a great plane to jump out of!

  • Heh, we'd allways find a way to tack on "Oh, it's getting all up there, so phallic and..."

    But, yeah.

  • Love it!! Miss the ole girl... err ahh.. what ever it was!!! Thanx for the laugh!

  • that's a priceless video. Beauty for the C-141 and Sexy for the C-17. Haters and fake asses...fall back!

  • Well,

The Starlifter sure looks good against the pregnant guppy!! That is a neat video. Thanks.

  • Ya looks like the C141 went on Atkins in comparison

  • thats big

  • Man, I miss those shows!!!!
