I love Lieb, his sound everything... Just sometimes I don't feel his solos really... I'm not even sure, they just don't seem to go.. He almost plays with some strange rubato feel... He's a great tenor and guy though!

@hodaka1105 Apparently, you and I have similar taste. A lot of people here dis Lieb, but I like that he isn't afraid to think "outside of the box". I never really got into Joe Lovano. Have you ever felt like someone was doing everything right but it just wasn't moving? As for Brecker, the man was a motivic development machine. Some people are put off by the technical overkill, but I love it and miss it.

@jazzman121444 Making a statement such as Dave Liebman is a fraud suggests something more than a critique of his skills. I happen to think his body of work speaks for itself and shows creativity, soul, knowledge of the music and a superior approach to his craft. If there is something that bothers you about his playing, you should voice that, as opposed to making a blanket statement.

Didn't like Liebman either. I thought he was too staid and like someone else already mentioned, didn't explore much at all.

A fraud? You might not like Liebman's style, but if he's fraudulent then so was the phase of Coltrane's playing which deeply influences Liebman's playing style. Liebman is a great educator and statesman of the idiom. Poor choice of words to call him a fraud.

It seems Brecker channels Coltrane sometimes and then has a conversation with himself. Awesome video, thank you!
