  • AL BOWLLEY + RAY NOBLE = MAGIC

  • Grotesque vidoe - spoils an otherwise lovely piece of music.

  • Sounds great on my gramophone....thanks for uploading it. Al Bowlly is unique. A great loss and a tragic end to the great maestro.

  • I'm torn as to whether or not I want this to be my wedding song! There are so many others I love just as much!!! :)

  • Like the orchestra and music. Hate the video. Awful!!

  • Forget about the stupid Ed Wood movie and comment on the actual subject - Al Bowlly...that's why you're here - right ?? This is the best rendition of "Gulity" from 1931....gotta love it !

  • Béla is the greatest!

  • Ed Woods masterpiece, Plan 9 from Outer Space, loved Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi in the Woods Biopic, a deserved Oscar, something I think Woods should be given posthumously for providing such an entertaining film, for all the wrong reasons.

  • haha,oh god,plan 9?

  • glenn miller played in his band in his early days.

  • "Guilty" is one of the best romantic ballads written by Richard Whiting. His daughter, Margaret, would record the song in 1947, making it one of her classic hits. Ray Noble enventually came to the U.S., forming yet another orchestra with American musicians, featuring vocalist Buddy Clark. They were popular entertainers during radio's heyday.

  • Ray Noble first came to US in '34 to play the Rainbow Room (which included an NBC radio hookup). He came to NY with Al Bowlly and Bill Hardy, his drummer and manager. Glenn Miller helped Noble organize his NY orchestra and played tombone with him for a few years until he formed his own band. Later on, Noble formed a different band on the West Coast which included Buddy Clark.

  • Oh god inspector cluso on the case......

  • I love this song, so witty in its game of words, and here with such top performers it become bigger and bigger!

  • Bela still can be found sitting at a bus stop in Hollywood. He never left.

  • Do you know what you have here, film-wise? That's poor old Bela Lugosi, at his 'home' in L.A., just prior to his filming with Ed Wood. Probably the last film of Lugosi (other than the few minutes on Wood's film...before he died!

  • The video accopaniment to this beautiful song shows off the the wonderful British dry humour. Consider the opening credits of Dr.Stangelove..."Try a little Tenderness" being played to the visual of Jet Bombers being fueled in mid-Air (how phallic) or the ending credits of Strangelove with Vera Lynn singing "We'll Meet Again" to a Nuclear Holocaust. Always enjoyed Ed Wood :-)

  • Lol! plan 9??

wonderful music, i love it. god, ray noble slays me.

  • Thank you for posting another lovely tune...and once again a great selection of images to go with it. thanks...

  • Thank you.......your as talented as Al Bowly for choosing the film -

  • Exquisite performance by Al Bowlly!

  • Dear Friend ! My vocabulary is too poor to express what I feel.

As for the music, for the first time I hear Al sing "Guilty'; love it...!
