  • Saw him once and the men's room smelled like jazz people pot.Great show.He almost played a banjo but put it back down.Whew!

  • thanks for posting this! I love this era of Coleman's, some of the most out there stuff ever.

  • celestial

  • a w e s o m e

  • I wonder how big the die hard following of this stuff is. You know beyond musicians.

  • niceWISEnice

  • Man this shit is so hard to understand, its great playing though, but hard to get into at first. I come from a fusion and bebop background. This shit is completely different from that.

  • @piptaylor99 Fred Firth is the man :)

  • man, this is the sonic youth of jazz.

  • Damn, that fuc.n' Denardo is and will always remain the worst drummer on earth.

  • Heavy Jazz !!!

  • @peru391 Like metal-jazz perhaps? I know, completely 2 different worlds but whose to say It cant be done! Jazz On!

  • omg i want to drive a nail into my head when i listen to this.

  • @doooobies332 Try listening to Coltrane's the Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost...what a crazy ride that song is, haha!

  • Ornette, Denardo, Bern, Blood, Shannon Jackson, & Fred Williams !! 1978 !!!!!------>While most people were listening to Toto's "Africa,..."

  • wow

  • im only 18 but really liking this, i would love to be able to develop my interest in jazz. Do anyone have any recomendations for my situation?

  • Try Ken Burns' "Jazz". It's a good historical overview. Warts and all.

  • @kpjlflsknflksnflknsa

This is beyond what most people regard jazz ;-)

I was like you - immediately liked far out stuff like the music of Ornette's disciples Blood Ulmer and Shannon Jackson, when I knew nothing of Jazz. Check these out, and (1970s/80s) Julius Hemphill, Arthur Blythe, John Zorn, Tim Berne, Fred Frith (1960s) Coltrane, Cecil Taylor, Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler, Carla Bley, Don Cherry, Eric Dolphy, Archie Shepp, Paul Bley (1950s) Monk - just random recommendations

  • @midzulo Well done what excellent recommendations - you have fine taste, especially the vastly underated Fred Frith.

  • fierce drum duets

  • Häröä! ;-)

  • yeah, that guy is JAMMIN out on his guitar. cool guy

  • I think it is Jamaaladeen...sounds like him.

  • it is absolutely not jamaaladeen tacuma. he was not on this tour. the bass player is fred williams.

  • its weird how 5 instruments can be playing completly different things but it can sound so good!

  • @astmaattack you might need to check your speakers.

  • Fred is keeping shit up/

  • brother jackson is loving every minute of it!

  • Oh I love it, this grooves!!!!

  • my favorite from body meta, love blood ulmer's chords

  • I realy love Ornette Coleman! this tune is so good for my ears!

  • Beauty Is a Rare Thing

  • i don't agree that this sounds much like Beefheart...they're in the same universe, perhaps..but....i mean, i guess Ornette sounds more like Beefheart than, say, Stravinsky...but what's that saying?

  • i love how beefheart loved him and then they both sound the same live

  • I love beefheart but he was a child compared to this.

  • An aural spectacle...Ornette is something else!

  • If you have Shannon...why you need Denardo's no-playing ass?!!!!

  • fair nuff but what Denardo does is actually difficult to reproduce..i mean that severe a degree of spazz.

  • ok my day was made. That was an GREAT! performance. Now I may be wrong..... but iT looks like good old Rudy McDaniel on the bass. You know... Jamaaladeen Tacuma? Thank you thank you ...you tube RULES!!!

  • fantastic!!

  • Excellent setting! Precious!

  • Warum hat sich diese Art von Musik eigentlich nie durchsetzen können? Ein wenig hektisch war es ja schon, klingt aber noch heute wie der letzte Schrei. Thanx for sharing. More of tis stuff please.

  • Posting clips like this is justification for the existence of the internet. Thanks.

  • note to self: rickenbacker bass

  • bravisimo!!!!

  • thanks for the share!
