  • Loved the duet! What a great thing to do for the kids. I wish I could have seen something like this when I was a kid. Anyway, I enjoyed this video very much!!!

  • Thanks Vince. We've made a big commitment to this program. We need to invest T&E into early education to keep the arts alive. This workshop was for "home-schoolers" following a tour of workshops in LA public schools After the show they were taken on a grand tour of DW Drum Co. It was a very inspiring day... for all ages!

  • Were you using your typical head setup for this Bob?

  • i dream of owning a DW drumset

  • dw914er.....Take a look at the solid Aluminum snare before you decide on the edge.....I love mine

  • Agreed, my Aluminum DW is on many of the vids...it's one of my faves

  • great performance.

i really should tour the dw factory one day

  • Thank you...yeah "DW" you should schedule a tour!

  • yes, DW.

Whenever i order my edge snare, ill try to visit the DW factory.

  • nice performance!

  • Thanks s

  • Typic sound of DW`s

  • tipic sounds of DW `s

  • this is awesome man !

  • You too kind

  • Wow...these guys are truly killing it!

    Great Playing!!

  • Thanks J

  • I didnt know you played BoB,your really

good!!! You and Billy came up with a nice

duet.I was wondering if you could check

out my videos and tell me what you think.

You seem like the type that would give an

HONEST opinion. Thanks if not I understand.

    Keep it up!!!!

  • Thanks O. I checked out "My Drum Solo". Your a pro, your set-up is smart, ergonomic. You understand the "story" in a drum solo. Patience, letting it out slowing, thematic. Keep up the good work!

  • Nice job Bob and Billy!!. Do both kits have the VLT shell technology? Both kits sound amazing. Keep up the inspiring and educational videos Bob!

    Chuck Herbert

  • Hi Chuck... thank you!

Yes, my kit is a VLT Billy's was a standard DW kit.

  • do you no what heads are being used ?

  • We're using Evans G-2's on the toms, Reverse PowerCenter / Hazy 300 on the snare and EMAD systems on the BD. Oh yeah...G-1 clear reso's.

  • they sound great!

can i ask about DW, the difference between a $3000 and a $7000 is what exactly? is it just the finish or the actual wood also??

    thanks

  • Both wood and finishes. Essentially, the shells are formulated out of Maple & Birch inner plies. The "finish", outer ply affects $ and aesthetics based on the exotic nature of the wood. DW also offers outer plies that are reversed in direction (vertical) creating a bit more low-end.

  • was wondering if maybe i could get some advice from you on a nice beginner drumset in a reasonable price range? :)

  • All the major drum companies are producing great lo&mid priced kits. Tama, Ludwig, Gretsch, Pearl, etc. Personally I recommend the Pacific line from DW. They make an "all-maple " shelled kit that sound-wise, competes with their hi-end drums .

  • i wish they offered something like this where i live :( id be there in a heartbeat. most of my drumming background is from DCI but i would really like to get into drumming with a whole kit. Very awesome performance though!

  • Many thanks! I have many DCI friends that are great set players... it's good background.

  • Hi Bob, love all your videos especially the one on putting the felt between the floor tom legs and the floor. Makes such a difference.

Great duet by the way, I was just wondering what do you think about the Edge DW snares, say a 14" by 5"?

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • BIG thanks! The Edge sounds great, especially if you like a dense "crack" sound. The nice thing about the edge design is the accuracy in tuning. The trade-off is the sound is somewhat specialized. Best to check one out before purchasing tio make sure it does what you want it to do.

  • Great drumming I really enjoyed the show unfortunately only on YT

  • Very awesome, bro. I don't know about the other dude before me. He must think he's the best in the world or something, cause I found this very inspiring even if it is straight forward. Duos are always awesome in general. Its also cool that I can contact you. I've been hearing alot about you lately, keep it up.

  • The more we share, the more we fare...BIG Thanks!

  • Thanks Bret, really appreciare it

  • by the way... what size is Billy's bass drum??

  • 18x22" mine is a 17x20"

  • i expected more, kids are easily pleased.great sounding drums but the playing as tight as it is ver very fucking uninspiring.

  • Sorry you feel that way but this program is all about the kids, giving them something simple and straightforward they can relate to. Most of the audience is under 11 years old.

  • bob will youdo a favor and come to oklahoma/edmond please you are a very skilled drummer and i want to hear a dw up close and pesonal plz bob i will do anything if you cometo oklahoma/edmond please?

  • Thank you for asking!. I'll be doing a clinic tour for Evans Drumheads in the fall. I'm not certain where the clinics will be scheduled but you can check their new website, "The Stage". Might want to send this note to them.

  • yeh i saw a vid of billy a playing for justin timberlake, really good

ps bob i've messaged you before etc. but basically i keep comign back to your videos and think the things you teach are worth so much more than a lot of things people try and tell you; they motly say similar things to each other, you are actually really innovative. good work!

  • That's very kind of you..thanks very much!

  • both great drummers

    but i gotta say "fuuuuuu*k"

Billy Ashbaugh's bass drum sounds amazingly brutal

in this video, DW Drums are the greatest

  • that´s totally awesome!!!

  • sweet

  • cymbal sounds on the orange kit are kinda gross, otherwise awesome...especially in the creativity department

  • the drum kit is amazing, but the zildjian all r trash cymbals, they sound horrible with that kit

  • In all fairness, cymbals have a complex sound, difficult to reproduce on a recording. We recorded this show with a single "camera-mounted mic"...Hi-Q sound wasn't a priority. Just wanted U Tubers to check out the program we do for kids.

  • COME TO TORONNTO....soo wanna meet u guies

  • Do you also have shows in long beach?

  • Not yet. You could contact DW Drums in Oxnard and suggest it to them. Thanks for your interest.

  • nice stuff very unique set up with the cymbals...

  • amazing guys! dw's rule!

  • Teamwork...
