I was 16 when I started and made qualified for Oireachtas in a year and a half. I'm 23 now and will be starting up again after the holiday season...I took a long break while I was at college but now I'm back....Can't wait! =)
i like this video, but i don't like how you say it's for people that are too old to even consider irish dancing. i think that older dancers should be more publicized. i only started competing when i was 17, and i felt the struggle of knowing that the people i competed with all started when they were much younger. i don't think it's ever too late to start or that you're too old to continue! either way, that was my rant. i really enjoy the video :)
Hey, I say you're never too old for anything if you set your mind to it. I didn't start dancing till I was 18, I'm 22 now and trying to get enough money to start competing.
How old it 'too old' to learn to Irish step dance like that? Not on a cometing level, but for fun, and maybe to do small performances 'someday' far in the future? And is learning to Irish step dance differnet for males and females?
Are you serious right now? You do realize Michael Flatley didn't even start dancing until he was 11, don't you? Judging my your multiple typos,I'll just chalk you up to a vapid tweeny-bopper. Or an ignorant jerk. take your pick.
......
I really like this set, your "old ladies" did a great job :)
Not at all, I didn't start Irish dancing til I was 9, but not seriously until I was almost 15. It can be done! If there is a will, there is always a way.
umm 7 or 8 isnt too old. I started when i was 15. I'm 17 now, and i'm in ireland.... yes that means im in the All Irelands! within two years, ive become an open champ. so yeah, i'd say 7 or 8 isnt too old.
Same-I actually didn't start dancing until I was about 13 or 14.
My teacher at my old school had me dancing at a Novice 1 level, but for the camp that I registered for (Camp Rince-Ceol in New York-have you heard of it?), my new teacher had me sign up for Prizewinner/Open :) (I'm 16). I'm happy that I moved up a level or two-even more so than I already had at the school that I used to go to. I feel like I've actually improved a lot at the new school I go to now.
