  • Is it just me or this rhythm with the muting is f***ing hard tp play?

  • so....hard...

  • i like youre hat!

  • Very nIce. SRV seems to do a little more with his thumb. You make it seem so simple. You are very talented . Nice video.Thank You.

  • this guy is the BEST !!!

  • hey! that's my guitar! (:

  • what is his guitar tuned to???

  • do a lesson on that tone

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan is my world <3

  • @JKconfuzzled That's a good world to live in.

  • close, but during the shuffle, you need to hit all the open strings, then mute them. Not keep them muted the whole time.

  • Is this lesson in standard? I know stevie usually played in half step down, but it sounds slightly off in half step when you play it this way.

  • That part at the end is the tightest shit ever !

  • Marty, where's that gorgeous spring 'verb coming from?

  • Do you have the tab for this it would help me out a lot, thanks

  • Marty you're great! Now if you could just work on your pudgy finger placement you'd be perfect. Remember we can't see through them. Perhaps point to the fret with your index finger and then show placement. Thanks Tim

  • thanks for the tutorial, i have a vid posted of the first time i played this after i saw this vid, it aint the best, but im getting better, one thing id like to play is welcome home (sanatarium) by metallica, i kno the main riff, chorus intro solo, and bridge, do u think u could post a vid lesson on the middle solo that kirk plays right after the first chorus? would b appreciated a lot

  • great lesson

  • I have been checking your channel for some time Marty and I must admit you are doing a really good job teaching the world some good music :) Keep it up, love it. Cheers

  • you're not teaching me the notes at 5:57

  • ... there ovisly some more

  • Like OUSoonerinDFW I am an older student who tired of wishing, and decided to do. Love your vids and although it will take me time to get this down, you present it in a way that makes it truly possible. I will practice this until my fingers bleed!!!!!

  • how do you get the srv tone?

  • Love your stuff Marty! Ive been a blues player for 25 years and have covered this song many times & I always play with the open e & b during the shuffle,.... could be real tricky for your students who are just learning but for you it should be a piece of cake,.. Anyway just thought I'd chime in on that,... See ya in the gaslamp buddy ;-)

  • ok good-at least you played the beginning uninterrupted...it's so tedious...teaching must be hard-it's hard enough to learn-even harder to try and teach,i bet

  • ssssslllllllllloooooooooowwwwwwwwwww down or you r gonna lose a veiwer

  • Thank you again! This was the song we played at our wedding at the end of the ceremony...we walk out to it and danced to it at the reception area. Had to have Stevie there...just realized I should know how to play it! You rock!

  • if you guys want guitar lessons go to my channel comment of what songs you want me to do a lessons on and i will do it . plz help me get started on my channel

  • Fucking nailed that intro.

  • Please do Green Grass and High Tides by The Outlaws!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn u crazy !

  • Great job Marty, you are a talented player and teacher! You make it simple by breaking down the parts and your use of repetion makes it easier to grasp each part! Keep up the good work! thnks from canada.

  • thanks man. Your tutorials really are helpful. I think it's cool that ppl like you give lessons that would be very costly for free.

  • Hey, Marty - love your videos. Just FYI - I am a 54 year old man that decided about five months ago to learn to play guitar - always wanted to - kept saying someday, and got tired of saying it and not doing something about it....anyway, you have a great way of showing and explaining things so that a novice like myself can understand....much appreciated.

  • all the song of SRV are in this tune... LIKE!!

  • Nice.

  • is this standard tuning?

  • @MrJeroenreyns no! its a bit difficult..I thought the same thing...all the song of SRV are in this tune....

  • is this in the key of A ? Although ur a half step down right ? so is that Ab ?

  • shakeh shake! :D

  • @Ivegotmymojoworkin actual, most people watching these videos are here because they need more than tabs

  • Shake shake. lol Your lessons are so inspiring and have made me come such a long way. Great lesson as always! Keep on rockin man.

  • I know how to tune all types of dropped tunings and standard tuning.

But Open tunings, or ostrich tunings are ones that i will probadly never try unless i'm high on crack.

  • super lecon comme d habitude merciiiiiiiiii

  • awesome man!!! thanx for helping us out!!!!

  • awesome marty thanks

  • great lesson, thanks alot!

  • Awesome! You've taught me life by the drop and pride and joy. Thanks for your help!

  • I love this song - i sing it to my dog. It is really annoying that you didn't do the lesson in regular tuning and just mention that it is tuned down a half step. I might have signed up for your lessons but the beauty of utube is that you get to audition your teachers - and this lesson would have been perfect, but now your students get to spend their practice time trying to tune their guitars for one lesson . So now i'm looking for another lesson on utube. This can't be what you intended.

  • @TheMusicmaam I take it back. It's pretty easy to tune down a l/2 step and it does sound better. Cancel the criticism.

  • @TheMusicmaam u suck dude

  • I have been trying to learn this turn around for quite a while now...finally I got it thanks to Marty! I appreciate you help bro!

  • Wow that was awesome

  • shakey shake is so clear.......

  • Thank you sir. This was extremely helpful!

  • thanks marty your great

  • Marty, at first I thought your lessons would be kinda hokey....Then after following you completely through this one,all I can say is THANKS buddy for a great and complete easy to learn lesson! Thank you so much!

  • GREAT INSTRUCTOR!!! I WILL BE BUYING YOUR DVD'S VERY SOON!!!

  • Nice lesson, great tune.

  • srry marty but i would have to dislike this vid because u rushed it srry man

  • @n64fanboy1 That's what the || PAUSE button is for, my brotha! Jam on...

  • @n64fanboy1 you have no patience man. i have been playing the guitar for two years, and this lesson is at its right speed. maybe the song is to advance for you. its called a pause button bro. if you have no soulful patience, then maybe you shouldnt be playing the guitar. you should be glad some one has the patience to demonstrate a lesson. no one is as good as marty as far as a teacher on youtube

  • how come my tuner does not have a ab or a D# ever showing up????

  • @opiqued

just wondering what tuner do you have? Many have settings for tuning to Eflat...look in the manual. No manual? Google to find the manual online. Best of luck.

  • @opiqued Most likely, your guitar tuner does not have an Ab or D# ever showing up because the "enharmonic" notes G# or Eb take their place. You see, they are the same notes: Ab is a semitone lower than A whereas G# is a semitone higher than G. Likewise for D#/Eb. When writing and decided the names of notes, usually the key of the piece and/or direction of the melody dictate which name will be used, although they are technically the same note. Your tuner likely just displays only one of the names

  • @opiqued put a capo on the first fret, tune to standard then take the capo off for half step down

  • @TIGERxBLOOD thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TIGERxBLOOD Pretty cool. Never thought about that.

  • @TIGERxBLOOD Get a fucking chromatic tuner! There are plenty that are REASONABLY priced! I would rather that then to buy a capo!

  • @bbnatedogg dude if you play guitar..you get a damn capo

  • @TIGERxBLOOD I didn't. I might at some point but, women are the only ones that NEED capos!

  • Comment removed

  • @bbnatedogg yeah that just is not true.

  • @bbnatedogg Or you can just learn to tune by ear if you're gonna be a dick like that.

  • @opiqued Ab is also written as G# and D# is also written as Eb - look for those on the tuner

  • Thanks Marty, nice lesson! What setup are you using to get that great SRV tone? It sounds very close to the original. I see you have a strat SSS. What amp, settings and effects do you use?

  • Duh everbody knows its tuned down a half step u stupid assmonkeys!

  • my guitar sounds higher

  • @urface1151

i think you have to tune it down a half step to e flat.. thats what marty does and SRV

  • i wish i could play this :P

  • part 2 of sultans of swing

  • I'm pretty sure its in tune

  • On the first part where u say 3rd fret on the B, mine makes the same sound, but on the 2nd fret

  • @hofner176 Out of tune?

  • @hofner176 Tune your guitar a half step lower to e flat tuning. that is why you are not getting the same sound. i'm guessing you're in standard tuning.
