There is a brilliant book called "A Version of Reason: The Search for Richey Edwards" by Rob Jovanovic. I would recommend it. The only bad side to the book is it was written before the release of JFPL but other than that, it's fantastic. Hope this helped!
Still sound's like they are covering a Nirvana song to me! a great one at that though. In utero/nevermind sound overall feel to it. Bit of pixies in their too i guess.
BombJapan.... "admitting the huge influence.."they had no bigger an influence on the manics than the Clash who were a far bigger influence considering they have admitted that it was because of the Clash they formed a band and generation terrorists is punk rock at its best.
Good to see the Manics finally admitting the huge influence Nirvana had on them, from their hooks to Rickey's suicide. They even hired Nirvana's producer, Steve Albini, for this latest record. The Manics have always been Britian's Nirvana, like R.E.M. is America's Smiths. They themselves have recognized Nirvana's influence in an new interview with the Sun. Good on them!
Agree with you BombJapan, the chorus on here is kind of similar to smell's like teen spirit i find. Poppier though, most people disagree with me though. Oh well, two amazing band's though. Saw them the other night at wolverhampton civic and they were amazing as usual! 10/10

I love the manics but I think this album is overrated. Musically it is very chord heavy, blunt and brutal, which isn't a bad thing but it lacks that lead guitar work, lead breaks and solo sections we love. Secondly, you can barely understand a word. So with relatively boring music (compared to previous albums) n words you cant understand, you're forced to read the lyrics to make sense of it. The lyrics are by no means the best richey has written either, cuz they're not lyrics, they're poems
Boring music ? are you kidding obviously no taste in music then. This is an amazing album , easily one of their best , check out all the great review's it has got.
I didn't say it was boring, I said relatively boring, that means in contrast to what they have written before. You can listen to almost any song off any of their other albums and it is more "fun" to listen to than most of these tracks, with more movement, structure and variety. I feel this album could have been better, as if they're holding back. They have focused too much on what we have missed and not enough on what we already love.. they need to combine past with present, not 1 or the other.
Ha ha, The reason I know the lyrics is because i'm smart enough to look them up when I don't know them. I still think that compared to other Manics albums this one is up there in the top 3. But if you don't like it so much.. well thats fine too.
Firstly, the recording is very similar. Steve Albini also recorded In Utero, and has a distinct style in which he pretty much leaves the band to their own devices rather than digitally altering the sound. This song in particular sounds closest to a song from In Utero.
Good call tairanman !, i could agree with that. or they are equally as good as each other at least. What an album though! want to be friend's? that's an invite by the way!
Look people , i just mean the sound .Especially the chorus sound's very nevermind, the verse sound's more in utero. maybe it would not be out of place on either album's.
My only complaint is this song is far too short. Replay replay replay

True, anyone who thinks this manics album is boring... well - you can guess.

Obviously you people don't understand the word relatively. And you pretend to be intellectual enough to understand the lyrics?
