From Rock 'n' Roll to Soul, discover the best music
hits of the 50's and 60's
For the very best in Popular Music history, take a look at our CD and MP3 Digital Download recommendations from Rock 'n' Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Rockabilly and Blues through to Soul and Motown.
i love how everyone's feeling so nostalgic about the 50's. people, this was the era of segregation, the Red Scare, and polio! LOL obviously some of you are delusional.
I visit my aunt in the nursing home. She is 100 now. I believe by listening to her that she lived through the worst of times in America into the best of times. I lived through the best of times and now will live through the worst of times. What do you think?
This is the reason I think the hippie generation got it wrong. The 1950's was one of the best decades in American history. People had and kept their jobs. America was very prosperous. We were #1 in almost everything. Why is it bad to be a conformist in a society which is doing extremely well. Can somebody tell me?
in US, theres this meuseum that sells and shows guitars that r 40 or 50 yrs old. they got chuck berry's guitar and they found chuck's pick in the pick slot in chuck's fender
One of my friends shared this with me. My channel has over 500 playlists, for nearly 300 artists, and 111 lists cover every year since 1900. Come step back.........
Wouldn't it be nice to hear the American Idol contestants do a tribute to Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Richie Valence? I know. Fat chance. Wish I was in charge.
hi, im looking for an old song which i do not know what date it´s from. I heard it from American dad from the episode Star Trek. please let me know the name and the date. thank you
@12novideo People back then sang about a broad horizon. Today it seems like every little nitpick you have throughout the day is made into a song about it.
Brushing your teeth? RAAAAAAAAAAAH I FEEL THE BRUSH INSIDE MY MOUTH, RIPPING OUT MY GUMS, I FEEL THE BLOOD POOL INSIDE!!! FUCK YOUR TEEETH!! RAHHHHHHHHH!
ok maybe that was a bit extreme, but you get the point. And no i'm not just singling out metal, this occurs in every genre.
"Sixteen tons - what do you get - Sabrina in the bath with Gregory Peck" was how we used to do it. Sabrina was a top heavy sex symbol and Peck a matinee idol. Buddy Holly was tamazing though - it is hard to imagine now the tremendous impact his very original records made on us at the time. There had been nothing like him before - the Beatles acknowledged their debt of gratitude to him.
whats the music where like its all nothin but peeps boops, just a bunch of beeping noises i like that if uve played destroy all humans the music they have when u go to parties and kill everyone.
Great video, Elvis still makes me want to get up and dance. This music will never die. My granddaughter's love this music, because you can dance to it, thank you.
Mills Brothers, Nat, Tennesse Ernie Ford, Fats, Chuck Berry, Big Bopper, Pat Boone,Richie Valens, Buddy Holly. All the greats plus Elvis! Thank you for posting these classics! =)
I was not alive during this time but this was the best in music! I was born in 78 and I would have to say that the 50's were the best (in music) for the good old USofA!
Pat Boone had white shoes and made a couple of covers of Richard, Fats etc but he was not the bad guy. The screwd ones were the producers/rec companies that made a bundle of USD at that time. Don't pick in BB, R Valens, Holly, Cochran, Elvis, Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis etc. They did they own thangs AND stood for it. They Where the the real guys/real thangs + all the good R&B, Doo Woop, Bo Diddley + blues by Muddy, Elmore, Howling etc. The goood vintage RnRoll lives on. Rest is bullshit. Believe me.
xtdremzny, Ok, I notice that and I had that in mind too. I don't think Pat was into it as he was only a rec. songer and was very young at that time. I don't swear, BUT I think he goes free from that thing. We can put 'shit on him' for stealing original black rnroll songs etcd. BUT I think that's not fair to him as he was just another product in the big rec companiies. He get some songs and sung them. Ok, he made money, but he was just another singer and he's intention was not not to steal..
com..not to steal from another black singer. NADA, not at all. He Got some good RnRoll songs in his hands and he sung them pretty well ( I',m not comparing his versions by the Richard et als ones.) It's very easy afterwards to be clever and put the blame at some one singular person. I think that Pat in his innovative way on the contrary paved the way for the real black Rnroller's as Richard et al as teeens saw and heards the real thing. Pat did some real good 'smoothers' in his own right.
whats the first song???
