  • Bill retired his 40-year-old Telecaster and now plays Tele clones by Big Tex, Rick Kelly, etc.

  • @Stratosaurus1 Sounds like it's time for me to edit the description. :-)

  • @paliazzar The guitar in this video is a Big Tex "Tele" made by Eric Danheim in Houston, TX. Bill's old, original Telecaster was nicknamed "The Coal Burner" and has been retired from road use. For more info, consult Vintage Guitar Magazine (July 2010).

  • Another great from my neck of the woods..DC/MD

  • I have met Bill several times. You will never meet a nice guy or a better guitar player. He is a consummate musician and a wonderful human being.

  • Bill is an amazing player. But just a note, that's not a Fender he's using. I forget the manufacturer, but is a telly copy.

  • @JHelak Oh. So sorry. No harm intended, Thanks for the info!

  • @JHelak Looks like it might be an old Dayton. He pretty much does use nothing but Teles though.

  • YES

  • awesome!

  • Nevertheless, I wonder why Jack O'Dell only had the snare drum with him. Still he is AWESOME on that one drum, but on his whole set he is the killer. One of the best drummers I've ever heard.

  • @Johi2410 That's the classic rockabilly setup.

Atlanta-based band Hillbilly Frankenstein played a sort of punk rockabilly; their drummer used a snare and a gigantic tomtom with a pedal on the bottom head...

  • @hwy49trg

Thanks. No day is wasted that you learn something.

  • @fairportfan2

Yeah I know. You should see Pete Amaral do his 10 minutes solo on JUST a snare drum. He drummed with Junior Brown for a long time.

I was just wondering, because "usually" Mr. O'Dell seems to take his whole kit everywhere with him.

  • Superb quality, thanks. Bill is AMAZING!!!

  • He's badass, and a nice guy.He actually remembered me from seeing and talking with him at the previous show the year before.

  • Truley impressive.
