What this guy was hold IS A REAL ONE OF A KIND PIECE, but I must explain how.

Firstly, these cylinders only held one song each (Essentially making the "singles"). Unlike the round and flat records that followed, THERE WAS NO MASTER. In other words, for a band to produce 50 of these phonograph cylinders, they played the song and recorded it 50 times. In other words, every phonograph cylinder was actually a one-of-a-kind piece.
