Mr Leach, I'm trying to learn to trim with a tool similar to your L shaped tool, but it 's causing me a lot of chattering grief. Can you show how to use it without the chattering?
I am having trouble with the bottoms of the cups denting in when I throw on the stem - am I turning the bottoms too thin or maybe my stem-clay is to hard?
HI ..sounds like you have the bottoms either too thin or the clay is too soft in the bottom ...you need the stem clay to be normal throwing consistency. SL
These are great - thanks for showing us how to do them. I just ordered a finished goblet from your website. Nothing like having the finished inspirational piece right in front of you :)
have you ever tried ribbing off the slip(the mucky gooey clay on the pot)it really helps when your removing the pot off the wheel because you dont get finger prints on it and it dosnt stick to you
Love the shape of that goblet. At first I thought it would look stumpy, but it is perfect! Also like the idea of turning the stem right on the cup. Do you do anything special when drying, considering how different wetnesses the two bits are?
Thanks for sharing, it's greatly appreciated. I've yet to try my hand at goblets but they look like great fun, maybe tomorrow. Goodluck finding a worthy wine - cheers

I see you use that tool in most of your videos, is it self made or can it be purchased?

How do you get the cup part of the goblet to stick onto the wheel without disforming the shape?

Decent wine? You're in the right country for it!

Hi
You still at it ! hey get some sleep !
The stem is thrown on as you saw when the cup is leatherhard.I seldom have any problems of them separating.....On SKYPE I am 'simonleachpotter'!! SL

On my last legs before bed now. How about you? LOL!
With the spiral you make at the bottom of the cup, isn't there a danger of trapping air bubbles? Or am I a worry-wart!

When you open the stem of the goblet do you go all the way down to the base of the cup? The videos are awesome. Thanks:)

Hi
Yes when you open the stem push down pretty much to the bottom of the cup part, then pull up the stem. Use softish clay for the stem.
