Everyone should just study computer science now. I have heard on the news a few weeks ago that it is growing fast. I heard that this college students are already getting jobs offers just months before graduation
YES ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY. if your in high school score good on the SAT. get like 2200. Id love to go to one but I know If i got into one id fail the first semester they would even look at my app
@MegaBobbygreen Disregarding your spelling, which probably suggests you are not going to any school, ivy or otherwise, can you support your claim that it's "worth every penny" (all caps does not make it more persuasive)?
What i don't get about Ivy Leagues or the "public Ivy Leagues" is that they are so expensive yet the return of investment is absurd! I've seen places like IBM, NASA, Intel, Honeywell, Google, etc. where a guy from Columbia, Stanford, UC Berkeley, MIT, Georgia Tech, is sitting right next to a guy from U of Arizona, San Jose State, ASU, RIT, UCF, etc. The difference between these employees? The amount of debt! Is ridiculous! The education bubble is about to burst!
Big endowment = big financial aid. The people that are rich and can afford it pay all. The people that are doing alright but can't afford The whole basket pay the amount that they can pay. The poor get in free. That's how it works and he failed to mention it
And the ivy leagues are among the most generous and are NOT the most expensive...other top notch universities i.e. Gtown adn Gwashington are among the top 5 but those are in expensive cities like D.C.
Wait...Ivy league was technically an athletic term but it was not a term of endearment...It was terming them like ivy competting with a bush in terms of athletics...
An IL school may carry prominence in name and branding, but it does not always offer the best education. A lot of state schools and liberal arts colleges are catching up to the IL reputation for research, arts, sciences and humanities. They too are producing amazingly prosperous individuals.
Also, Jordan made a valid point that IL professors are very often engrossed in their personal research stuff, so they tend to pay less attention to their students.
I was trained in cold reading by the MoD. This guy is not intrested in your Education he is intrested in making money. He's a business man through and through. He just thinks he's found a more efficient way to do it that might be able to seem like it can save you some money BUT will definitely make him money. That's the nail on the head here. What yure degree will be worth by the time you get it is anyone's guess.

@ogicabp4u THE OLD STYLE OF EDUCATION IS DYING BECAUSE WE LIVE IN A TIME OF INNOVATION. WE LIVE IN TIMES WHERE TECHNOLOGY PLAYS A LOT OF ROLE IN THE CORPORATE WORLD. THE NEW STYLE OF EDUCATION WHICH IS ONLINE SCHOOLING ENHANCES PEOPLES PRODUCTIVITY FOR FUTURE JOBS WHERE THEY DON'T NEED TO STACK A LOT OF PAPERS BUT RATHER THE UTILIZATION OF COMPUTERS THAT GETS THE JOB DONE AND NOT WRITING ON PAPER UNDER THE SOUND OF SOME OLD POTENTIAL ARROGANT PROFESSOR WHO DOES NOTHING BUT DRINKS COFFEE.
I'm enlightening people on the dangers of Communism. Notice how I put, "GOOGLE the others, because they are just as devastating" Do you honestly believe I'd push for a candidate who believed in something I thought was devastating to America? No. I'm pushing for Allen West, because he believes in principles of Free Market, the Constitution, and smaller government, which is polar opposite to the Communist Obama.
I'm a Columbia alumni. My tuition was $17,000 per semester. I graduated with MS degree. I've been unemployed for 2 years. Now I have a mountain of debt. I threw away my money and youth to study. Now I can't qualify for welfare, food stamps, unemployment. I'm fucked. BTW I'm loosing all my stuff, and i'm going to be homeless. Don't be a sucker sheeple! Through tuition hikes--You're paying for the pensions and entitlements and lining the pockets of politicians. Thank you and merry x-mas.
@byang8 What was ungrammatical about the post? The only problem with it is that the poster used "loose" instead of "lose." That is a typo/spelling error and is in no way linked to grammar.
Or are you just looking to pick on an Ivy League graduate to make yourself feel better?
@yellowdotz Please. PLEASE. There is NO WAY you paid seventeen THOUSAND dollars per semester and still cannot spell "lose." Please. Please tell me this is a dream.
@yellowdotz What was your major? Because if people major in something that won't help you job is waste. Because kids take out these loans and major in something useless like Philosophy.
Philosophy is not 'useless' as you so charmingly put it. Only an economic-minded prig would say that. I know a lady who studied Spanish and who is now working in one of the top finance departments in the world. And I also know a Management graduate from Oxford who is still unemployed after three years. I guess you're one of those people who say, "If something's wrong, blame your tools and not your own hands."
@ambereyes93 Spanish you can do a lot because most companies will need people to speak another language. Learning Spanish can also you lead to job as intreper at hospital with patients who speak nothing but Spanish. What can do with Philosophy.
Philosophy gives you a very open-minded view about life, and challenges you to think about anything and everything. You are taught to question beyond what any other person would normally do, and entrepreneurs really appreciate the flexibility of thought and the capacity for marshalling arguments in a coherent manner. Oh, and this lady who did Spanish is in the FINANCE department - she's not dealing with languages.
@yellowdotz SO TRUE... that's why these schools are only for the super rich who can afford it no problem or the super poor who get lots of financial aid... bottom line, if you can't afford it don't go there it's not worth THAT
@yellowdotz hope you have found a job by now I am a New Yorker and have been job searching like crazy still nothing. I also served four years in the military like an idiot in order to pay for school.
this guy is totally ignorant about the ivy league...people destroying books and cutthroat competition? he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.
CLEARLY......Actually, he's pretty much spot on. The Ivy League is assumed to consist of the finest students in the nation. Why, to you, would that NOT entail some considerable competitive zeal? After all, screw original thought, those Peter Keatings need to suck up the big bucks someday...!
Hey Jordan..what do think about Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Some say it is a great school that rivals Ivy,others say it is an easy school( mostly by NJ residents)..what are your thoughts?
Little wonder you are unemployed given your attitude, spelling, vulgarity, and "sheeple"?
