  • I love this video! Such a great day :-)

  • The problem with real fights is they tend to seriously injure someone. Training with a cooperative partner lets you work through the basic techniques. Once you have the basics, you can add passive resistance, then active resistance. Further, most of the people in that vid were wearing white belts so I doubt they had much experience and the higher grades got hit and stabbed several times so they clearly weren't choreographed.

  • Try that on the street and your ass will be handed to you. Real fights are not choreographed.

  • This isn't the street dumbass its an open competition for novices.

They don't even let you use weapons at this grade.

It's a different setup to say a grading where they would use anything from baseball bats to simulated potential rape attacks. (from my experience)

  • anyone can beat a cooperative partner.

  • no-one can train with a non-cooperative partner.

  • @darkknightbob101

then Judo or BJJ is not for you

  • @ someguy How do you learn to beat a non cooperative partner with out first training with a cooperative one?

  • @ artfuldodder

the whole point of training with a non-cooperative partner is because there is no such thing as a cooperative opponent in real life, how are you supposed to beat a non-cooperative partner when you train with someone who is cooperative? That's whole reason why Jigargo Kano created Judo, and Mas Oyama created his own version of Karate.
