  • Music is a kind of drug LoL

  • satch rules!!!!

  • what model is his guitar? somebody please respond!

  • @silVa219230 it is an ibanez js 800 if this is what you want

  • @silVa219230 A Satriani edition 7 stringer by Ibanez

  • @TheShredMasters Sorry, that's his 6 stringer, but has a 7 string.

  • putin c ma préfére!!!! la guitar chante!

  • Nice playing anyway, one of my earlier guitar hero. Thanks for posting this video. But without disrespect to my guitar hero, the more I look at Satriani with is sunglasses and bald head, the more he look like an alienL...Remember ...``Surfing with the alien`` cover of the album?..LOL !

  • @benzit1 You're a true adoloscent. Figure it out.

  • Such a sexy fucking clean riff in this song.

  • I used to cover Joe's songs but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • 21 people are brainless fags

  • joe satriani is such a guitar god !!

  • One of the best instrumentals guitar or otherwise ,from maybe the best guitarist one earth right now.

  • when andy james playing this, he is sweating from his ass

  • @capecodnut I had the pleasure of seeing Joe @ the House of Blues in Boston for the first time last year... hands down the best guitarists of all time.. have been a HUGE fan for years and although I have seen every one of my all time favorite guitar players live, Joe was the only one on my bucketlist that I had not seen until then... worth that wait and I agree cant wait till he comes back.... Joe Motherfukking Satriani FTW!!!

  • Damn he's havin a good night.

  • Love you, Satch.....you are "the" musical genious....of ALL TIME. I have EVERY ALBUM, sweets. PLEEZE come back to Boston.......!!!!

  • Cool

  • Impresionante Joe,vaya maquina

  • U know when a guitarist is a proper musician and artist when they write and play songs that are not always too difficult technically but grasp a kind of simplistic composure but have tons of soul and feel eventhough they can , of they wanted to, shred at million miles/hr. As the years have gone on his style is no longer about fast legato/hammer on pull offs n arpegios but great scale work with heaps of feel and bending. On ya Joe.

  • waiting for Joe to let loose is like waiting for a car to crash at a NASCAR race....you know its just a matter of time and you are on the edge of your seat every time.

  • 1:28 really fast and nice!

  • very melodic n futuristic.. GOD

  • Alright. Look tabs can't give you timing information. But if you know the song well, then go for the tabs. Plus that you bought one Guitar Pro latest version , you may better save your own music in tabs too. But don't rely 100% on the software when you heard a new song and wanna play it. This is all I known till.

  • funny enough spock got the ears

  • If aliens can play the guitar, I bet they'll sound just like Joe Satriani.

  • simply the best song ever !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think if he plays with Petrucci in a Dream Theater show, it would emerge a vortex in the middle of the audience, and the whole universe would start to "rocking out" xD

  • @vaxkors95 Well... There was a show Satch did where JP came out and did Summer Song and Crowd Chant with him. Not quite the same, but close.

  • @vaxkors95 JP has been on 8 g3 tours with satriani........

  • @IrTheBoobcat i know, but was not with dream theater

  • 21 people gave up playing music whil trying to play this song !

  • 20 people are squares

  • Joe is the best, one of my all-time favorite tunes played perfectly live, unbelievable! Thanks for the great post.

  • Check out his face at 1:45! It looks like he's about to jizz in his pants from the extreme amounts of awesome flowing through his veins. ^_^

  • Joe Satriani plays circles around every player ..get it

  • He just gets better and better over the years. Rare to find such technique and soul.

  • Just blinding! What a track! And Joe's got normal sized hands with actually podgy little fingers! Not like that freak Buckethead. Funny, all the advice from people who obviously can play like Joe, in their dreams!

  • JOE IS FROM ANOTHER PLANT. HE IS EVERY GUITAR PLAYER IN THE WORLD ROLLED INTO ONE. YOU CAN'T EVEN COMPR

  • JOE IS FROM ANOTHER PLANT. HE IS EVERY GUITAR PLAY IN THE WORLD ROLLED INTO ONE

  • He makes that guitar sing.

Would prefer the intro without so many effects though.

    What a great guitarist!

  • Why does his clean tone sound so glitchy?

  • *Holds a lighter in the air*

    We're not worthy! . .. We're not worthy!

  • Tabs are for noobs. Learn to read notes. Much, much easier in the long run. I've had to experience that myself by the hard way.

  • @Tttribe1

Hahaaa "tabs are for noobs"... you know what I think? If the tabs are for noobs so for what peoples create them? For fun or for easier play on instruments? I bet on second version...

  • @Tttribe1 stick to both.

Learn the tabs, then all the theory behind it RIGHT after.

Knowing this song is simply based in Emaj will only take you so far.

Knowing the tabs will give you the motif, the riff, and solo.

then again- knowing the theory gives you every single improv section. (intro and outro?)

  • @ShadowLancer128 Learn the theory...then forget the theory again. That's the best way. Satch and Vai don't really think of theory when they are playing, they learned every aspect of musical theory but when they start playing they forget it, for the sake of not making it math. That's what makes them so great.

  • @Tttribe1 tabs are not for noobs either .

but real pros do play music by reading notes , and sight-reading is REQUIRED in any serious jazz formation IMHO a guitarist has to read notes by sight . after 13 years of classical piano and 7 year of guitar , i do this for breakfast , it's easy .

another thing which helps TONS to improve is to buy a pair of bongos and practicing grooves. Helps to get some groove into your playing instead of being super-linear and boring .

  • @GroovyGuitar02 This man speaks the truth.

  • @Visualundeath me or joe ? well, why not take my 5 minutes of glory for once and say thank you , i appreciate the kind words :)

(and if i in case you were talking 'bout joe , well , he has such a wonderful way to tell the truth with his instrument, this IS amazing , bloody fantastic , awesome ... it's like staring into a real van gogh . You get all those vibrant colors , all this emotion and everything ... just leaves you breathless )

    cheers !

  • @GroovyGuitar02 I was talking about you, yes! Especially about the importance of rhythm and groove.

  • @Visualundeath thanks !

and yeah , that's some seriously important stuff , rhythm , groove ... i'm studying the way african and indian people see rhythm . Actually , the Djembe drum was the equivalent of our cellphone , they made actual words and sentences on that thing to contact other villages. This is ... like ... Geez , awesome .

One particular thing that's very interesting (especially on guitar , and while programming drum machines) is where i put the accent !

  • @GroovyGuitar02 accents* . moving those can change the rhythm a lot ... best tool in the toolbox is also to get Ableton Live or anything , to record everything . To experiment with the grooves ... Always use a metronome .

(and it makes my personal approach and experience of music different , interesting , and all new... this and studying Jazz theory , learning classical and fingerstyle... really fantastic stuff )

  • So fast while maintaining melody..

This guy dedicated so much time to music, he probably didn't have time for drugs...

  • @Re1Mu2R3 It payed off. Fuck drugs...drugs is for pussies..

  • @jimmyleppard6 Tell that to Hendrix, dude.

  • @xxxserialxxx If he was so good then why's he dead.

  • @Koroar Because he died... like everyone eventually does.

  • @xxxserialxxx I miss him :(

  • @xxxserialxxx WTF are you talking about? Died? Satch...the best guitarist that EVER lived.....was BORN in 1956 and still lives on in...the best guitarist that exists...or has ever existed.....to DATE. Peace out........

  • @capecodnut I didn't say he was dead, you were reading a reply to me by someone else referring to someone else. Because you like facts so much, here's the research you should've done before wasting my time.

Some guy said, "Best guitarist that ever lived" and I said, "Tell that to Hendrix".. that's where you come in and read a comment to me saying, "If he was so good then why's he dead" (the dumbest comment in comment history.).

We were talking about Hendrix, not Satriani.

  • @capecodnut And as much as I love Joe, there are MUCH greater guitarists than him. Yea, he's a legend but not the best.. and I'm not going to sit here and argue about personal choice so don't reply and tell me he is. You'll only be ignored.

  • @Re1Mu2R3 "THIS GUY?" Love you, dude, but "this guy" has been around since the late 80's.....much...unappreciated....until the last few years. Drugs? Don't even think about it..........................

  • @Re1Mu2R3 sorry, but that's obviously a man who tokes the toke.

  • I don't know, that solo is 'fairly' intimidating :)

  • gutar god

  • Joe, you are like a serious musical "back massage to my inner soul"...deep, deep down....bless you for all your musical genious....for years and years.....I am so thankful for your existence.....

  • I think Joe Satriani had guitar encoded in his DNA. After all these years my jaw drops when I hear his music or see a video of a live performance. I wish he or G3 would come to Tennessee or remotely close.

  • @MrJtr75 for a second I thought I just read 'Joe Satriani had his DNA encoded in his guitar', sounds like an anime concept of sorts ;D.

  • damn the clean part makes me wanna cry, that's one of the most beautiful melodies ever.

  • all I can think when I watch this is... nice pants :D

  • Favourite Satch song ever... one of the most magical songs in the world... I would love to play it live or at last for more than 1 person- me^^. Geez that sounded mega funny^^...

  • 19 people are squares...

  • @INCENSESMOKE 19 people are pissed off because they cant play a guitar...

  • Satriani Past his Prime..LOL... No way.. Watch live in Paris this Man is the Micheal Jordon of Guitar. He keeps getting better.

  • Satriani might be past his prime by now. He might have been for quite some time. Malmsteen was maxed out with "Marching Out" ( in his early 20's) in my opinion. Vai, I don't know or have an opinion about. I'd like anyone to tell me if and where my ignorance is.

I'm waiting for who's the next super-great guitar hero to make albums. Maybe there is somebody already right now. If so, let us know. I dream of somebody that's even better than Satriani or Vai - if that's even possible.

  • @01235shank Yeah- your ignorance? Is right where you said "Satriani might be past his prime by now. He might have been for quite some time."

Sir with all due respect I beg that you please listen to his new album "Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards" Its miserably titled but its got some GREAT new tracks to listen to. It's also got two bonus tracks called "Longing" & "Heartbeats"

  • @ShadowLancer128

Thanks. I'll check that album out for sure. I appreciate your response. I like to hear from other people before I buy a cd. I've been disappointed too much in the past buying any music without hearing good opinions about it. :)

  • @01235shank lol. I hope you like it.

Man, it sounded like you were starting a thesis for a second!

  • @ShadowLancer128

yeah, but it's NOWHERE near the perceding albums.. like flying in a blue dream or crystal planet. ofcourse it's good, but in my opinion, mediocre.

  • @TommittajaFIN personally, the only mediocre thing I can see on the new one are littleworth lane, and Two sides to every story. My ear takes serious musical offense to hearing anything "country" or "redneck" related. Any time I hear acoustic blues, etc.. etc.. I dunno, i don't like it. Given that genre is the heritage of most rock music, but still.. I dont like the harmony, melody, or rhythm at all.

Something like God is Crying peaks my interest though.

  • at 3:37 he sends the signal through guitar to his brethren on planet Zenthurion, contacting mothership

  • I like the color of his JS guitar, but I think its custom made..

  • Whenever I play this song to people who haven't heard it they always say 'Well.... Wasn't expecting that change' hahaha Love Satch.

  • Joe satriani must be an alien who came down from the sky and plays guitar! the gift gtom God! freetubemusic(dot)com

  • @1:35. That is simply AMAZING!!!!!!! I've been watching him play for a while now, but watching him play that lick there is just astounding.

  • 19 people missed the like button

  • the satch is the cats snatch!!

  • I think the band as a whole is impressive. The bass, drums, what could be done better???

  • @LadyRBlues They could've added moar cowbell \m/

  • @LadyRBlues Billy Sheehan on bass, Mike Portnoy on drums and Paul Gilbert on backings.

  • my favorite satch song

  • llamen a Jaime Mausan, este hombre es de otro mundo!!

  • @iHerbit YES I AGREE ALSO HE HAS SUCH STYLE CLASS WITH GREAT THEMES AND NEVER MISSES A BEAT AND CAN STOP ON A DIME AND PLAY A SWEET MELODY THEN HE TURN ON THE HEAT AND THEN BLEND IT IN. HOW CAN ANYONE COMPARE SATCH TO ANYONE NO MATTER WHAT STYLE. HE IS IN A LEAGUE BY HIMSELF AND I AM SURE THERE IS MILLIONS THAT WOULD AGREE WITH ME I HAVE TO GO NOW BECAUSE I GOT TO LISTEN TO MORE GREATNESS.

  • @dsaenz45 well then! agreed somewhat, but could we please turn off caps lock and be polite about how we speak?

  • one of my favs, the riff part, awesome, my friend played it solo in front of me, the guitar by itself sounds good too

  • in soviet russia guitar taps you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @grimm66615

what's this soviet thing about? D:

  • @TommittajaFIN its from an old movie....the would always say that something from the ussr would do u...like..( in soviet russia guitar plays u)...

  • he's riddick with a guitar

  • god of riffs!!! period...

  • When i learn to play this, i can die happy. :D

  • how on earth do his fingers last a whole set!! groundbreaking

  • First of all its super hard to do and second of all he doesn't even look like he's trying!!!

  • @iHerbit

    Apart from Buckethead........

  • @collin292 xD wow. Buckethead definitely can't play like Satch. Everyone has their own style. Sure, you can make stuff sound the same, but how can you compare two totally different styles?

  • Alex Lifeson is the best.

  • perfecto..

  • In the future everything will be chrome.

  • Outro is awesome. And don't forget...he shaved his head for our sins...Satrianism is the true religion!

  • Jeff campitelli is underappreciated.

  • now I know what a circle is..

  • He makes it look so easy! You say to yourself "i could do that with a bit of practice", and then you see the tabs ....more like years of practice

  • @rossm21uk I wish I had a webcam. Surfing took me a cople of months from when I was a beginner, Now Circles is taking me a while too.

  • @rossm21uk You know, it really IS easier than it looks.

    Once you're comfy with your pentatonic shapes, major and minor scale, I hate saying this, but I'm looking at the tabs for the solo right now;

Em pent. pulloff+ hammer pattern descending down to an Em Aeolian lick, which gets down to the Octave E root, which is bent and given vibrato for intonation.

  • @rossm21uk yep . Plus you got to play this on rhythm . and joe satch is the kind of guy that likes to add some spice to his playing ... there's a reason why this kind of guy is famous !

  • @GroovyGuitar02 He and Stevie Ray Vaughan kind of were alike in that they never played the same song the exact same way each time. Stevie once said that if you just play a song the same way each time you aren't doing yourself or the song any justice. Those weren't his exact words but I think it made his point.

  • @MrJtr75 i see :)

  • @rossm21uk you have to study the basic teqniques 2 years than u can play it with 2 weeks practice

  • @rossm21uk Its actually pretty easy, certainly easier than a lot of stuff

  • @djfrank203 post a video of you playing it ?

  • @rossm21uk Unfortunately there's a tradeoff. Show me a great guitar player and I'll show you a guy who was inside practicing while the rest were out chasing women having fun and partying.

You get back what you put in - 8 hours of playing a day and it does not take years to play well like this, but who has the time. Practicing an hour a day - forget about playing like this, EVER!

  • @rossm21uk i have the licklibrary dvd of joe satriani and this is one of the easiest, btw i broke two strings in two days playing/learning this song XD

  • @rossm21uk trust me dog.. a little practice n u can nail it your firt year of playing:)... trust me.. u can do it to

  • @rossm21uk Maybe 20 years..... =D

  • Mind blowing

  • The most original riff i have ever heard

  • Circles and circlesof "alien" good music...

    That`s Satch playing!!

  • Tic toc tic toc. This song is like a big, dreamy cloak floating like a ghost through my hazy brain...

  • Say what u want... this is masterpiece ;]. This intro is so...!!! Oh want floyd rose already... xD

  • I still prefer Steve Vai. More natural style.

  • @PetitBerlingot Natural? Shit, His style is very natural to him. I recognize what he's doing with his music, and it's brilliant, and neural, and expressive. But it's nowhere near natural to me.

  • @ShadowLancer128 yeah you saidthat.

  • @EebooTwo Why do guitars have to be so damn expensive, why can't everyone have an inexpensive customized Ibanez?

  • @PetitBerlingot man his phrasings quirky as hell aye

  • @PetitBerlingot you can prefer whoever you want but Vai is one of the less natural guitarists!

  • takes your breath away.....the smile of pure satisfaction.

  • amazing

  • Quisiera que estuviera en un guitar hero pero no hack con un poco de suerte y sea en el proximo

  • amazing

  • one of my favorites from Satriani

  • esta poca madre...vean todos los videos..no sean wuevones..saludos!

  • ...es el mejor y mas grande!!!

  • I've just eaten my hat..

  • in song writing i like sastch,speed malmsteen,tapping vai.

  • You care enough to respond. This is a comment section. People can leave comments. Don't call this guy out for having an interest that's not yours.

  • No, I don't really care. I took 3 seconds of my life. So?

It doesn't matter what his interest is. Are you just assuming that I disagree with him?

Okay. I can piss, and I probably could piss in my mouth if I wanted to. Am I going to? No, because I'm not fucking weird.

And what would give him the urge to post that? Is he mentally retarded?

  • He said what music he likes...not that he could piss in his mouth...this being a music video would kind of inspire such comments...I guess I cared enough to defend this guy...Why contribute to all the crazy hate on youtube, it's rediculous. This site is like a white supremacy meeting half the time, and a free for all the rest of the time.

  • The point is, is that he is an idiot for thinking of posting such am unrelated and pointless comment.

  • I know, and you make a fine case in support of that. I just hate...hate?

  • Why would you defend such an idiot?

  • He could be the nicest guy, looking for people with similar interests...

Intelligence can be overriden by decency sometimes.

  • Why would he be looking for people with similar interests on youtube? What could possibly come of that? Nothing.

  • Why only be limited to talking about conflicting interests, just as we are? I find that a little too negative. Maybe he could find someone who could teach him guitar, and maybe he's a little broke on friendship, and doesn't need any more shots at his self-esteem. I don't believe in any of that therapeutic crap, but for some people it apparently works, so to each his own.

  • Youtube is not the place for anything you've just mentioned

  • Then what is it for? Making enemies over nothing :/ That's all I ever see it used for.

  • I like yelling at people.

  • @ASteveVaiFan Dude, i haven't read your comment. But i've read your username, and i've seen how much you're clogging up the comments, and i've came to the conclusion that you are a moron.

  • @camsell456 Then you are exactly what is wrong with the world. All I've said on this video is that people shouldn't argue and fight online. And look what you are trying to do. Basically, you think people who respond to comments addressed to them, and who enjoy the type of music that their screen name implies, are morons. Sorry there "Camsell456". Whatever you are doing must be the right thing. After all, something must warrant your behaviour.

  • @ASteveVaiFan

I think Steve Vai is an awesome guitar player (of course he is).

I think though, that Joe can make instrumental guitar songs much better than Vai. Vai, is I think, equal on technical prowess and music theory knowledge, etc., but Joe, in my opinion, is the commanding officer-in-chief of instrumental rock guitar music. I say this hoping you're not offended. Their are numerous Vai songs I like.

    Cheers :) :)

  • @01235shank I agree Joe is a better, well, at least far more consistent writer than Vai. As far as Vai's work goes it either falls flat for me or blows me away. Joe's got that smooth steady stream of excellence.

  • @ASteveVaiFan

Thanks for your reply. I need to check out numerous Vai songs that I've never heard before.

    Cheers :)

  • Man you nailed it! Such rude buttholes everywhere on here.

  • Bye bye John Petrucci (and Malmsteen... and Steve Vai... And Paul Gilbert...)! Ahahahahahah!

Ps. Not only talking about technique! =)

  • Comment removed

  • @felipemorona Stronzetto, visto che non sai l'inglese e preferisci comunicare nella tua lingua madre sperando che l'interlocutore non capisca, ti rispondo anch'io un po' come cazzo mi pare. Figlio di puttana. 'pito? And to make you understand for sure (maybe) the following point, I'll write in english: Someone teached me that if I don't make any offence to anyone I can say everything I want. So please, explain me: why am I a son of a bitch, you bastard?

  • Because what you wrote does not have nothing to see, they are guitarists with different style.

  • So? What's the problem? That's my opinion. I like all the guitarists I mentioned, but Satriani FOR ME is superior (As I said before I'm not only talking about technique). He's the only one that gives me that kind of sensation I was looking for. So I don't see any matter. You're free to think in every different way. And not for that I'll call you ever "Filho de puta". And my dear... yes, they have different styles, but they do shred, and that's a big common point. Hola

  • You this certainty, forgives me.

  • No problem...!
