You take things literally like Jehovah's witnesses like the Bible saying that the sun revolves around the earth (because David while writing a work of prayer suddenly felt like writing a scientific essay) and ignoring the potential that the creation story is symbolical. Some things and books are symbolical, others are not.

@philipmarie1854 Yes, it has been documented in studies that non-believers have more knowledge of what is in the bible than believers. I don't take any of it literally. Why would I? How would I know which parts are symbolic and which are to be taken literally? The question is why would anybody care what it says at all unless they were studying history, sociology or mass psychosis.

Then one day I decided to read the whole bible cover to cover, and learn all about it. What did I learn? It was written by primitive and superstitious people. It's full of mistakes and blood, even in the new testament. You telling ME that Atheists refuse to research? Only 10% of christians read their whole bibles. Atheists rank highest in a recent poll about religious knowledge.

@philipmarie1854 LOL I visited the vatican last summer. It's the biggest most lavish palace in the world. The museums buy paintings worth millions of dollars. They could sell all that and feed the whole planet.
I know priests, personally. They have cooks, valets, chauffeurs, assistants. They live the good life.

Benedict XIV ordered priests guilty of solicitation to be put on trial and if found guilty to be publicly exposed. So did the 1922 document. Anthony Mary Claret ordered such Priests to go into home of penance if they were found to have attended a BROTHEL.
