@truthinstyle Let me rephrase, I'm a registered independent who holds progressive views and I like Ben Stein. He and I both agree the rich will have to be taxed more and they should be.
@RealTime88 Some facts that you might think about... 25% of the US population (rich) pay 86% of the tax burden. Top 1% pay 39% of the tax burden. In 1970, the top 1% paid only 19%. If you are interested in truth...
I don't necessarily agree with everything Ben Stein says, but you have to give him props, with everyone calling him stupid or a Nazi for coming out with a movie he believes in. If Michael Moore can do his movies, why not?
what a load of sensationalist garbage...if anyone's seen the dawkin's interview he doesn't admit to intelligent design, he says that if we were intelligently designed then the 'designer' would have had to come about by evolution, they didn't just appear! the bit where they try to argue that the germans are returning to nazism makes me sick.
There is such an unbelievably large motivation to believe in god and practically no ulterior motive to be atheist. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. One guy with a few maybes on a possible signature in DNA is not extraordinary. These two are like children, mocking Dawkins behind his back- look he thinks aliens made us! What a dummy, surely it was an undefinable force that did it!
He was playing the ultimate devil's advocate position . He was suggesting how intelligent design COULD work - stretching the imagination to its limits. There is of course absolutely no evidence to support it however, and he never came close to ackowledging such, which is why it's not science. Funnily enough Dawkins had no idea at the agenda at work - he just thought that Sein was slow. Only Glenn Beck would give this guy's 'documentary' a good review. It was widely lambasted elsewhere.
@ajmmii There IS evidence for intelligent design??? You Sir, are a certified nutcase. If you listen to Dawkins he actually makes it very clear that nobody knows for sure how it all began, only that the science does not point at intelligent design. Ben Stein is a highly dishonest man, who has thoroughly runied his own standing by releasing such an incredibly bad 'documentary'.
@ajmmii What evidence is there to support it? If you're saying that is the case you're saying there's proof for creationism? Intelligent design is the aforementioned Belief, modified into a simple philosophy that cannot in any way be accepted as academically useful.
I love that Stein undermines his interviewee by pointing out that she doesn't know who Malthus was, and yet chooses to keep the interview.
And the added irony that he wants to employ the same selection criteria that earned him the place of Valedictorian into the scientific curriculum. A democratic vote... Sorry Ben, science is not a democracy. Quite rightly Beck replies
Governor of California would be a good start. Ben is not a whacko conservative to me. I saw the movie and even though I am non-religious I didn't get angry.
It is quite clear that Dawkins was trying to construct the best possible argument for intelligent design, without approving of it.
It is quite clear that Dawkins did not present the idea to avoid the infinite regress.
It is quite clear that Stein went into this with a very clear motive, and edited the movie for the sake of that motive. The movie is terrible. Most people realize that. The audience toward which the movie panders approves, but that should hardly be surprising or worrisome.
@ajmmii This is like me asking you to discount pixies in your brain that can't be seen, heard or felt in this universe. The reason I know they're there is because I was capable of thinking about them. Hopefully you understand the direction in which I was going with this.
You would thing Stein would have does at least a little research on the subjects he made a documentary about. I hope people will look into his words with discernment and make an objective decision. Dont just believe something because its on TV or you think someone is smart.
And yes, information can be added by evolution. It isn't easy to understand without the mathematics of information theory, but I saved a video that explains it.
Its utterly nonsense they give poison pills to sick elders in Germany (or anywhere else in Europe for the matter). Health care is virtually free in Europe and it works well. It costs about a half comparing to US spending on their non-working system.
Why are they commenting on the NHS. Everyone in Briatin has free access to healthcare, we even pay transport fees to get people to hospital. No-one is left out. What is bad about this?
lol, I don't see the problem either. I think the problem is just that conservatives in this country are extremely ignorant. If you view the comments on the whitehouse channel you can find conservatives repeating everything they've heard from Rush and Fox. Some of them even believe that Obama is an evil communists who's trying to start a "new world order." Americans have a tendency to over react to new ideas because of our extremely disinformative media.
And on Obama look at his past speeches and people he appoints. Like Van Jones the communist, he believes in spreading the wealth, wanted to make energy prices skyrocket, wants to pass universal healthcare and even said that at a certain age its better just to take a pain pill despite that treatment is still able to be done.
@USAPatriot45 All Obama ideas are going to be real in 50 years in the whole world. Just ignorants, conservatives, republicans, rednecks, nazis, morons(Palin, bush) as you, are slowing down the progress
@bryoneill11 Let us look at history: Capitalism built western society which has prospered and primarily the US, although other nations have helped, have developed modern life as we know it. Communism/Socialism has produced massive amounts of debt in the western nations that are trying it and halted real progress in what was the eastern bloc. Look at China, the more communistic they became the more the suffered. The more capitalistic the became the more the developed.
@USAPatriot45 i agree with you 100%... YOu are right in everything you said. Im talking about real progress. a social health care reform, no more guns, no more religions, gay marriage, animal rights, environmental care, one world united, no more war, etc
@bryoneill11 Social health care like socialism has proved to be ineffective. No gun ban, waiting period or other form of gun control can be linked to lower crime. Religion is not something that should be gotten rid of, it is an important factor in society. Gay marriage is detrimental to family values and encourages behavior that is physically and mentally unhealthy. Rights are based off the concept that you know you exist and since animals do not know this they do not have rights as humans do.
"I think the problem is just that conservatives in this country are extremely ignorant."
Some friendly advice: careful with the pigeon-holing. I'm a staunch athieist, and I take the fight to the religious zealots as often as I can. I'm also a conservative Reaganite. And I know I'm not alone.
Don't assume that because people are politically conservative that they MUST ABSOLUTELY ALSO be Christan kooks.
If Dawkins really said that about Stein, that's pretty messed up. I agree that Stein is really niave on science, and intelligent design is just a baloney hypothesis to make religion sound like science, but I wouldn't go as far as Dawkins did with that comment.
it doesn't violate laws of biogenesis - give me the record you're reciting about the "violation" and I'll check it out.
I can't be bothered to repeat myself again about Evolution being proven. Enjoy your happy religious life that obviously makes you a kind hearted curious individual and not a blind, ignorant brainwashed stubborn fool.
Evolution along with the Big Bang are not scientificly valid. They violate laws of science like biogenisis. Creating a few amino acids, both types not just the ones used in life, does little to prove hoe they could be arranged in a perfectly written genitic code. Carbon dating can actually prove that the Earth is less than 100,000years old via C14. You are ignoring true evidence just so you and others can live an amoral life. Enjoy your shorter less satisfied life on Earth.
Evolution is proven by natural & physical laws. Look up abiogenisis for "where life came from" rather than evolution (it just describes why there is diversity). Matter can be rearranged - that's the point. DNA mutates, it doesn't get bigger and miraculously "gain" information. What do you mean "explain DNA"? You might as well ask "explain protein molecules" or "rats"
Why does it rain? According to you I need to have a reason to admit it exists. I don't need a reason for the universe to exist.
Evolution violates natural laws Ilike biogenisis. Even under perfectly simulated conditions and scientist in control only a few amino acids were made. Both types were found too but only one is found in life. DNA mutations destroy part of the genetic code. Evolution is not a scientificly valid theory. Maybe if you did some real research instead of assuming what the public schools taught were true, then you would understand. Until then enjoy indoctrination.
dawkins was actually saying that if there was ever a signature found in the design of things, and that design was created by someone who wasn't from this planet (alien god whatever) then even that being would have to have been created too, therefore design is a never-ending cycle, it isn't an answer.
To sum up - even if there was a signature of a designer who designed the designer?
The creationist/design theory doesn't answer the question of where life comes from.
Both answer the question, Dawkins just makes unnecessary assumptions.
Creationism - Assumes the creater (ie God) always existed.
ID - Doesn't care who or what created it. ID doesn't deal with the nature of the creator, whether it be God, aliens, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Following Dawkins assumption that some always comes from something else, where did the universe come from? Did it evolve from another universe? And where did that universe come from? Sounds like a double standared
*sigh* lets not kid ourselves ID is the term now used since creationism lost all credibility. I don't see many Scientologists, Hindus, Buddhists aiming to get ID taught in schools seems to be one certain religion...so add them too ID what do you get? Creationism.
If we follow science and evolution then eventually would it not be possible to prove a creator? Why jump straight to the creator who always was, is and will be? That is just...retarded.
God is said to be immortal and eternal. Therefore He is and always will be. You could use your logic for the creation of the universe. How did it start? Big bang. Who/what/why did it happen? It just is. Evolutionists are no more logical than creationists, less actually.
Evolution is proven. One more time "PROVEN" - only the brainwashed, religiously oppressed think it's fantasy. The existence of Allah, Moses, Jesus, Dionysus, God, Jehovah, Mercury and Thor etc have never been proven - so forgive me for not being convinced with the pathetic "is said to be" argument.
Find me a person who has had a missing limb grow back thanks to prayers and I'll convert.
Haha wow you idiot. Evolution is a THEORY not proven. It's what they think might have happened. But note a man who had no knowledge of DNA or a complete fossil record mad that theory. We have found proof of many people like King Solomon. Romans even documented Jesus. Meanwhile we find Carbon 14 in diamonds which proves a young Earth. Carbon14 decays at a half life of 5730years. Show me proof of the big bang and where it came from and ill renounce.
"Zeitgeist - Jesus Connection To Other Mythical Saviors"
evolution is a scientific theory honey - which means that it's been peer reviewed and challenged ... it isn't fantasy - it's visible and countable in nature - Jesus and the other religious dudes aren't.
Dawrin was able to see evolution because - wait for it.... it exists. The diversity of species (a fact of evolution/reality) proves genesis was at best a bedtime story - at worst an idea to control people.
Evolution and the Big bang go against all laws of nature and physics. Life comes from life(Law of biogenisis) Matter can neither be created nor destroyed(Thermodynamics) the list goes on. Also we have never seen any species gain information in its DNA structure. Evolution doesn't explain DNA either. Furthermore your logic is void for you fail to have a reason for the universe's existance. You ever even tries to read into the other side?
You do realize things called miracles. Ya know people just having cancer disappear, survive being crushed by a truck, etc. Are these guys just a bunch of crack pots to you?
They don't have to be crackpots, but people who think that a supernatural being decided to take away their cancer etc to prove its own existence are crackpots. Don't you ever wonder why a supernatural being was so powerful it created everything is unable to communicate clearly with the very beings it created?
Law of biogenisis is that life comes from life. Evolution clearly violates that because according to it life came out of nowhere. Who says He is communicating unclearly? He is omniscient therefore knows what is best. He has a plan but we as humans can not understand it. And how do you think someone with stage 3 cancer just becomes better?
True life is made up of chemical reactions. However so are many things that do not spawn life. For example an expolsion. However they are far from random in life and are programed in specific order in our genetic code. He is out Father therefore said as a He although He does not have gender. True death of children is tragic. However there is a plan that none of us could understand. In the Bible Isrealites were defeated and enslaved many times yet they were still God's people.
Some reactions are evident in what we call life, and some chemical reactions aren't - I was pointing out that all life is chemical reaction, not all chemical reactions are life.
It seems to me that stuff you don't like "is a plan we don't understand" - because it doesn't "fit" with your personal (not universal) God description - if we can't understand the plan, not only does it fail at speaking clearly, but how can you claim that you know (a) what it really wants and (b) that it exists at all?
I have a question for you. If you have had a hard time proving that he or it speaks why not ask it or he to speak to you? Also, if you still don't hear anything . . . it's just a suggestion . . . you could calm your thoughts/ mind down and not speak because maybe it whisper's and you can't hear it when your thought's and words make you restless. Or even lose your peace over it if you fail to hear/ understand it. Any who have a enjoy your day.
I have a question. Where and were did you get the idea that God Hates you? Why are you so hypocritical of yourself and at the same time being hypocritical of others? Why are you ignoring or removing the Holy Spirit (Spirit of God) and Satan (fallen one) from your argument? Why do you not want help to figure things out? You can spend your whole life searching for just the right question but then never find the answer or visa versa. Why not ask the one who knows the right quest. & ans. to ask?
Neither does the Holy Spirit, Satan, Thor, Angel Gabriel or Tara the Queen of the Leprechauns.
What things am I not trying to figure out?! How mythical beings will judge my moves and deal justice when they want to - although they are unknown to anyone born outside of a participating culture.
I'm not searching for a question or an answer, as I have my own conclusions, I just don't understand how people follow cults and incite hatred because of them.
"Law of biogenisis is that life comes from life. Evolution clearly violates that because according to it life came out of nowhere."
That is a very big misconception about evolution theory. Evolution is not a theory about the origin of life. Evolution is mainly just the fact that genetic material changes over time, causing animals to pass down changes. The cumulative effects of evolution is what accounts for the biodiversity on Earth. Go to wikipedia and put in the word abiogenesis.
I have heard the abiogenisis arguement before and it is weak at best. Life was never created in a lab or anywhere else by humans. However life comes from other life every day. So logically biogenisis has a stronger base. And it depends on which branch of evolution you are talking about, for it has been modified and altered over time. Natural selection explains diversity as well without evolution. Merely that those with out the traits needed die off in an area, that is why skin color varies.
Abiogenesis is more like a field of study. It's not really an arguement or theory. Scientists in that field debate over a collection hypotheses. I'm just saying that it isn't evolution. In order for a divergence to take place you must have a change in genetic material. Natural selection must have genetic mutations to act on.
Natural secletion does explain diversity amngst animals. ie skin color. Those wi fair skin in areas like Africa would have died off due to UV radiation. Also dark skinned people in areas like Europe would not recieve enough vitamin D to use the calcium in their body resulting in weak bones. And mutations never add material they just take away some that is why often animals die after mutations. Part of their DNA is lost so they can not function properly.
Of course mutations add material. Duplicated genes can undergo independent mutations and nucleotide insertions add material all of the time. Every single reproduction event in nature results in dozens of mutations. If a mutation is selected by the environment, that qualifies as an increase in information. It's difficult to explain in a comment box, but I found a video that explains this in mathematical detail and saved it in my favorites. It's the first vid.
If it recopied something already on its DNA then nothing new is added, it is just there twice. DNA can be rearranged, have extra material(we don't use all our DNA), or lose information. Also there is this thing called irreducable complexity. We have discovered many organisms, some of the unicellular, cannot function if any one part is missing. So how could they have lived before they had all these parts?
Irreducible complexity is a hypothesis defined by Michael Behe, who doesn't actually reject common ancestry. His hypothesis is incorrect, and rejected by most biologists. He made a critical error by assuming that the components, for example, of the bacterial flagellum do not already exists in nature with different functions. In other words, the parts are already there. Therefore the can evolve step by step, as they are frequently combined and adapted to different functions over time.
"We have discovered many organisms, some of the unicellular, cannot function if any one part is missing"
You need to read the transcript of the Dover trial, where "irreducible complexity" had its head handed to it in full view of the press and public. What was considered to be an "irreducibly complex" mode of transportation turned out to be an adaptation of a mechanism for injecting bubonic plague.
I have a question for you. Since everything in existence is so complex wouldn't that mean this "supernatural being" would have to simplify a communication methods for us since we are not as smart as him or it?
I have a question. Why is it the impression your giving me is that people have force feed you information and then you yourself are now lashing out in pain every time on this topic or a relatable topic? It seems like it's a never ending cycle until you choose to do otherwise or live differently.
Just a suggestion if you have to learn how to walk and talk as a baby wouldn't the same be true with God you don't know his ways or language which means you need to learn it. RIght?
Actually they are linked. If evolution is true than there are no such things as unalienable rights. Just what humans decide to give others. Therefore they can justify communism and the siezing of indivual property for the greater good. Universal healthcare is just an extension of communism
Matter can be rearranged along with the DNA of an animal. That is why we have different human traits. But matter can not be created and information is not added to the DNA sequence.
Dawkins comments were deliberately taken out of context. In scientific terms ID is not a theory nor is it a hypothesis and it definitely has not been observed and yet they want it in our schools? don't we have enough Church's in this world selling snake oil?
Wow this video was whack. And I can't believe they actually dissed universal health care and made an allusion to Germany? Maybe they should look up how the US stands in the world health care ratings, right up there with Bolivia was it? And logical fallacies:
1) Just because the truth is depressing doesn't make it less true.
2) Who created the alien = who created God
3) Religion is the cause of just as much suffering - crusades, inquisition, terrorists
note @ 4:36 ... i seriously doubt that his eldest daughter will be getting into princeton or columbia. i've met her. please believe me, its meant kindly from the bottom of my heart -- she's a lovely and special little lady, a simple soul, and she will be at least semi-dependent on her parents for the rest of her life through no fault of her own.
i loved the becks when i knew them and i'm baffled now. why the deception? the posturing? is this tale told at the request of a producer? please stop.
manupilation of truth is what these guys do. as journalists your first motto has to be honesty and knowledgeable and glen beck is neither,he's more like a puppet that regititate what his masters in fox network tell him to say.his knowledge is very limited and he brings washed up has beens like ben stein to his show,to back his idiotic ideas up.he is pushing more for hillary cuz he knows that if obama wins there would be some changes.he thinks mccain isnt right, facist enough so he doesnt like him
"more sober reasoning from the world-is-flat crowd" how ironic since the 'world-is-flat' crowd equivalent in this thread are the ones who discount evolution, which requires that you ignore or deny the huge weight of evidence proving it to be a fact. ID is not science until you can scientifically prove it. Until such time, it can stay out of science class like all other bogus religious assertions.
when you have any film that tries to paint entire groups....hitler killed jews because the jews killed christ. well that is what he used to manipulate all the followers of luther.
Ha - thought as much. Just checked out Glenn Beck in Wikipedia and you'll never guess what... he's a Mormon! (though the second 'm is meant to be silent)
No but let's see if I get the general idea: Big Bad (established) science bullies and 'expels' other scientists for their dissenting views about evolution or for holding other 'equally valid' theories about the origin of man. Subtext: Darwinism leads to the likes of the nazi holocaust and is just a 'dangerous idea' yet people who don't buy it are discriminated against. P.S. Richard Dawkins is a crackpot so clearly evolution is a crackpot idea. That about covers it I think. How'd I do?
Hitler was heavily influenced by Darwinists like Spencer and Haeckel, and exterminated the jews and other "inferiors" in an attempt to speed up man's evolutionary process.
He thought he was speeding up selective breeding by eliminating weak gene pools.
Seems religion is not the only reason people kill....
Of course religion is not the only reason people kill. They kill for other ideologies as well. The theory of evolution by means of natural selection simply says how life, at a genetic level, IS. It makes no claims about how life ought to be. That is down to our evolved minds to figure out. So it is not an ideology. I mean, gravity may have bad consequences but it doesn't make it not true and not something people should be taught about in school. Evolution is the best explanation for what we are.
It most certainly is not an ideology it is a scientific theory concerning how complex life came to be, with overwhelming evidence to support it. If any evidence had come to light which didn't support it and we still carried on teaching it then that would be troubling, but there has never yet been one shred of evidence to counter the theory of evolution. You can agree to disagree all you want but you've simply closed your mind to reality. I'll see the movie when it's free.
How the hell is a scientific theory about genetic evolution a 'world view'. Think you may need a reality check 'breakfastisready'. Wake up and smell the coffee ;o)
That's as cheap as it is empty. If I've been incorrect on evolution then at least point out where and how. That's only fair - don't you think? (That's a rhetorical question)
Ooh. I cowar under the hefty weight of your intellect. Still no qualification of that statement I see. How is 'evolution' an ideology? Try to use short words in your answer so that I can keep up.
"you are a closed-minded and intolerant evolutionist" - this from the man who said;"You just want to put someone in a neat little box so it will validate your worldview..."
Yeah - you got me Mike. It was just a hunch. Most narrow minded unintelligent folks who buy this sort of crap are either fundies, creationists or both. I guess you're just unintelligent then. My bad.
... and finally - as I've already explained, I will not pay to see a movie, the unscrupulous makers of which have an agenda that I fundamentally disagree with. I will not put money in the pockets of liars and fools who undermine intelligence. When the movie goes to free-view, which won't be long judging by the righful slating it's getting from just about everyone, I'll watch it. Until then, I've read enough about it and seen enough of Stein and his drones to know it's a crock!
This is pretty typical of supporters of ID. Can't produce any good arguments of their own so they simply come up with bad counter arguments for other people's good ones. Thankfully, most people have the wit to see that for what it is. IDiocy.
"You are too close minded to even see the movie!" Given that I've explained 3 times in detail why I won't pay to see it and you still don't get it, that's rich.
Look, no one is afraid of ID, it's just NOT SCIENCE. Science is not finding something unbelievable because you either don't understand it or don't believe/choose to ignore all the evidence and then coming up with 'it looks like it is therefore it is' as an answer. That's just not very bright and not for the science class.
haha...dj2baduk , Northgrant was right actually. I've been involved in an undercover project these last few years with the Richard Dawkins Foundation for SCIENCE AND REASON. We've found a piece of Stalin's DNA and have so far successfully cloned him, I'm just waiting for him to wake up. I read Hitchens' articles to him every night before I go to bed...Secret's out!
LOL, RaptorSA. Shoooot, I wish we'd compared notes. I've had Stalins brain in a jar all this time, if I'd known you guys were going the DNA route, I'd have chucked it.
Surely you mean the Richard Dawkins foundation for satanic amoral world domination mentality! As an experiment, let's indoctrinate our newly cloned hero into one of the Abrahamic religions and see if he's any more reasonable as a result.

Ben Stein is a highly dishonest man, who has thoroughly runied his own standing by releasing such an incredibly bad 'documentary'.
gwangjuboy1 1 year ago

"What kind of stupid system is that?"

The audience toward which the movie panders approves, but that should hardly be surprising or worrisome.

lol, I don't see the problem either. I think the problem is just that conservatives in this country are extremely ignorant. If you view the comments on the whitehouse channel you can find conservatives repeating everything they've heard from Rush and Fox. Some of them even believe that Obama is an evil communists who's trying to start a "new world order." Americans have a tendency to over react to new ideas because of our extremely disinformative media.
adkinsjr 2 years ago
And on Obama look at his past speeches and people he appoints. Like Van Jones the communist, he believes in spreading the wealth, wanted to make energy prices skyrocket, wants to pass universal healthcare and even said that at a certain age its better just to take a pain pill despite that treatment is still able to be done.

Im talking about real progress. a social health care reform, no more guns, no more religions, gay marriage, animal rights, environmental care, one world united, no more war, etc
bryoneill11 1 year ago
@bryoneill11 Social health care like socialism has proved to be ineffective. No gun ban, waiting period or other form of gun control can be linked to lower crime. Religion is not something that should be gotten rid of, it is an important factor in society. Gay marriage is detrimental to family values and encourages behavior that is physically and mentally unhealthy. Rights are based off the concept that you know you exist and since animals do not know this they do not have rights as humans do.

it doesn't violate laws of biogenesis - give me the record you're reciting about the "violation" and I'll check it out.
I can't be bothered to repeat myself again about Evolution being proven. Enjoy your happy religious life that obviously makes you a kind hearted curious individual and not a blind, ignorant brainwashed stubborn fool.
333222777888 2 years ago
Evolution along with the Big Bang are not scientificly valid. They violate laws of science like biogenisis. Creating a few amino acids, both types not just the ones used in life, does little to prove hoe they could be arranged in a perfectly written genitic code. Carbon dating can actually prove that the Earth is less than 100,000years old via C14. You are ignoring true evidence just so you and others can live an amoral life. Enjoy your shorter less satisfied life on Earth.

jesusislord7713 2 years ago
Evolution is proven by natural & physical laws. Look up abiogenisis for "where life came from" rather than evolution (it just describes why there is diversity). Matter can be rearranged - that's the point. DNA mutates, it doesn't get bigger and miraculously "gain" information. What do you mean "explain DNA"? You might as well ask "explain protein molecules" or "rats"
Why does it rain? According to you I need to have a reason to admit it exists. I don't need a reason for the universe to exist.
333222777888 2 years ago
Evolution violates natural laws Ilike biogenisis. Even under perfectly simulated conditions and scientist in control only a few amino acids were made. Both types were found too but only one is found in life. DNA mutations destroy part of the genetic code. Evolution is not a scientificly valid theory. Maybe if you did some real research instead of assuming what the public schools taught were true, then you would understand. Until then enjoy indoctrination.
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
dawkins was actually saying that if there was ever a signature found in the design of things, and that design was created by someone who wasn't from this planet (alien god whatever) then even that being would have to have been created too, therefore design is a never-ending cycle, it isn't an answer.
To sum up - even if there was a signature of a designer who designed the designer?
The creationist/design theory doesn't answer the question of where life comes from.
biased reporting in this video
333222777888 2 years ago
Both answer the question, Dawkins just makes unnecessary assumptions.
Creationism - Assumes the creater (ie God) always existed.
ID - Doesn't care who or what created it. ID doesn't deal with the nature of the creator, whether it be God, aliens, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Following Dawkins assumption that some always comes from something else, where did the universe come from? Did it evolve from another universe? And where did that universe come from? Sounds like a double standared
ajmmii 2 years ago
*sigh* lets not kid ourselves ID is the term now used since creationism lost all credibility. I don't see many Scientologists, Hindus, Buddhists aiming to get ID taught in schools seems to be one certain religion...so add them too ID what do you get? Creationism.
If we follow science and evolution then eventually would it not be possible to prove a creator? Why jump straight to the creator who always was, is and will be? That is just...retarded.
zeratul1987 2 years ago
Dawkins doesn't assumes that. He says that he doesn't know how everything started. but argues that complex things evolve from simple things.
Deathugee 2 years ago
God is said to be immortal and eternal. Therefore He is and always will be. You could use your logic for the creation of the universe. How did it start? Big bang. Who/what/why did it happen? It just is. Evolutionists are no more logical than creationists, less actually.
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
"god is said to be..." that's your proof.
Excuse me while I laugh and then pity you.
333222777888 2 years ago
Haha wow you idiot. Evolution is a THEORY not proven. It's what they think might have happened. But note a man who had no knowledge of DNA or a complete fossil record mad that theory. We have found proof of many people like King Solomon. Romans even documented Jesus. Meanwhile we find Carbon 14 in diamonds which proves a young Earth. Carbon14 decays at a half life of 5730years. Show me proof of the big bang and where it came from and ill renounce.
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
Jesus was proven... check out
"Zeitgeist - Jesus Connection To Other Mythical Saviors"
evolution is a scientific theory honey - which means that it's been peer reviewed and challenged ... it isn't fantasy - it's visible and countable in nature - Jesus and the other religious dudes aren't.
Dawrin was able to see evolution because - wait for it.... it exists. The diversity of species (a fact of evolution/reality) proves genesis was at best a bedtime story - at worst an idea to control people.
333222777888 2 years ago
Evolution and the Big bang go against all laws of nature and physics. Life comes from life(Law of biogenisis) Matter can neither be created nor destroyed(Thermodynamics) the list goes on. Also we have never seen any species gain information in its DNA structure. Evolution doesn't explain DNA either. Furthermore your logic is void for you fail to have a reason for the universe's existance. You ever even tries to read into the other side?

You do realize things called miracles. Ya know people just having cancer disappear, survive being crushed by a truck, etc. Are these guys just a bunch of crack pots to you?
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
They don't have to be crackpots, but people who think that a supernatural being decided to take away their cancer etc to prove its own existence are crackpots. Don't you ever wonder why a supernatural being was so powerful it created everything is unable to communicate clearly with the very beings it created?
333222777888 2 years ago
Law of biogenisis is that life comes from life. Evolution clearly violates that because according to it life came out of nowhere. Who says He is communicating unclearly? He is omniscient therefore knows what is best. He has a plan but we as humans can not understand it. And how do you think someone with stage 3 cancer just becomes better?
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
Describe life. Then try to argue how it isn't a chemical reaction. Everything else should fall into place for you from there.
He's omniscient... well, a supernatural, fantasy overlord would be, wouldn't it; otherwise how else could you convince others to obey it?
Surely it's an it rather than a he?
Don't you think it'd be able to explain the plan clearly to us?
Miracles, angels, souls and fairies are all nice images, but they don't exist in reality.
So your God wilfully kills babies then?
333222777888 2 years ago
True life is made up of chemical reactions. However so are many things that do not spawn life. For example an expolsion. However they are far from random in life and are programed in specific order in our genetic code. He is out Father therefore said as a He although He does not have gender. True death of children is tragic. However there is a plan that none of us could understand. In the Bible Isrealites were defeated and enslaved many times yet they were still God's people.
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
Some reactions are evident in what we call life, and some chemical reactions aren't - I was pointing out that all life is chemical reaction, not all chemical reactions are life.
It seems to me that stuff you don't like "is a plan we don't understand" - because it doesn't "fit" with your personal (not universal) God description - if we can't understand the plan, not only does it fail at speaking clearly, but how can you claim that you know (a) what it really wants and (b) that it exists at all?
333222777888 2 years ago
I have a question for you. If you have had a hard time proving that he or it speaks why not ask it or he to speak to you? Also, if you still don't hear anything . . . it's just a suggestion . . . you could calm your thoughts/ mind down and not speak because maybe it whisper's and you can't hear it when your thought's and words make you restless. Or even lose your peace over it if you fail to hear/ understand it. Any who have a enjoy your day.

You can spend your whole life searching for just the right question but then never find the answer or visa versa. Why not ask the one who knows the right quest. & ans. to ask?

Neither does the Holy Spirit, Satan, Thor, Angel Gabriel or Tara the Queen of the Leprechauns.

333222777888 2 years ago
what is your definition for a cult?
jesusislord7713 2 years ago
"Law of biogenisis is that life comes from life. Evolution clearly violates that because according to it life came out of nowhere."
That is a very big misconception about evolution theory. Evolution is not a theory about the origin of life. Evolution is mainly just the fact that genetic material changes over time, causing animals to pass down changes. The cumulative effects of evolution is what accounts for the biodiversity on Earth. Go to wikipedia and put in the word abiogenesis.
adkinsjr 2 years ago
I have heard the abiogenisis arguement before and it is weak at best. Life was never created in a lab or anywhere else by humans. However life comes from other life every day. So logically biogenisis has a stronger base. And it depends on which branch of evolution you are talking about, for it has been modified and altered over time. Natural selection explains diversity as well without evolution. Merely that those with out the traits needed die off in an area, that is why skin color varies.
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
Abiogenesis is more like a field of study. It's not really an arguement or theory. Scientists in that field debate over a collection hypotheses. I'm just saying that it isn't evolution. In order for a divergence to take place you must have a change in genetic material. Natural selection must have genetic mutations to act on.
adkinsjr 2 years ago
Natural secletion does explain diversity amngst animals. ie skin color. Those wi fair skin in areas like Africa would have died off due to UV radiation. Also dark skinned people in areas like Europe would not recieve enough vitamin D to use the calcium in their body resulting in weak bones. And mutations never add material they just take away some that is why often animals die after mutations. Part of their DNA is lost so they can not function properly.
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
Of course mutations add material. Duplicated genes can undergo independent mutations and nucleotide insertions add material all of the time. Every single reproduction event in nature results in dozens of mutations. If a mutation is selected by the environment, that qualifies as an increase in information. It's difficult to explain in a comment box, but I found a video that explains this in mathematical detail and saved it in my favorites. It's the first vid.
adkinsjr 2 years ago
If it recopied something already on its DNA then nothing new is added, it is just there twice. DNA can be rearranged, have extra material(we don't use all our DNA), or lose information. Also there is this thing called irreducable complexity. We have discovered many organisms, some of the unicellular, cannot function if any one part is missing. So how could they have lived before they had all these parts?
USAPatriot45 2 years ago
Irreducible complexity is a hypothesis defined by Michael Behe, who doesn't actually reject common ancestry. His hypothesis is incorrect, and rejected by most biologists. He made a critical error by assuming that the components, for example, of the bacterial flagellum do not already exists in nature with different functions. In other words, the parts are already there. Therefore the can evolve step by step, as they are frequently combined and adapted to different functions over time.
adkinsjr 2 years ago
"We have discovered many organisms, some of the unicellular, cannot function if any one part is missing"
You need to read the transcript of the Dover trial, where "irreducible complexity" had its head handed to it in full view of the press and public. What was considered to be an "irreducibly complex" mode of transportation turned out to be an adaptation of a mechanism for injecting bubonic plague.

Hitler was heavily influenced by Darwinists like Spencer and Haeckel, and exterminated the jews and other "inferiors" in an attempt to speed up man's evolutionary process.
He thought he was speeding up selective breeding by eliminating weak gene pools.
Seems religion is not the only reason people kill....
breakfastisready 3 years ago
Of course religion is not the only reason people kill. They kill for other ideologies as well. The theory of evolution by means of natural selection simply says how life, at a genetic level, IS. It makes no claims about how life ought to be. That is down to our evolved minds to figure out. So it is not an ideology. I mean, gravity may have bad consequences but it doesn't make it not true and not something people should be taught about in school. Evolution is the best explanation for what we are.
dj2baduk 3 years ago
Evolution is most certainly an ideology. It's an entire worldview. And you know this to be true.
We will just have to agree to disagree.
Have a good day.
And maybe you should go see the movie.
Peace.
breakfastisready 3 years ago
It most certainly is not an ideology it is a scientific theory concerning how complex life came to be, with overwhelming evidence to support it. If any evidence had come to light which didn't support it and we still carried on teaching it then that would be troubling, but there has never yet been one shred of evidence to counter the theory of evolution. You can agree to disagree all you want but you've simply closed your mind to reality. I'll see the movie when it's free.

How the hell is a scientific theory about genetic evolution a 'world view'. Think you may need a reality check 'breakfastisready'. Wake up and smell the coffee ;o)
dj2baduk 3 years ago
For someone who comments so much about evolution you sure seem to know so little about it.
Do some research then get back to me.
breakfastisready 3 years ago
That's as cheap as it is empty. If I've been incorrect on evolution then at least point out where and how. That's only fair - don't you think? (That's a rhetorical question)
dj2baduk 3 years ago
You lost it at the beginning - when you declared that evolution is not an ideology. That is laughable.
breakfastisready 3 years ago
Ooh. I cowar under the hefty weight of your intellect. Still no qualification of that statement I see. How is 'evolution' an ideology? Try to use short words in your answer so that I can keep up.

For 'open minded' read 'Christian Funamentalist/Creationist'. Which one are you breakfastisready?
dj2baduk 3 years ago
You just want to put someone in a neat little box so it will validate your worldview...
Pathetic.
I'm obviously neither, but you are a closed-minded and intolerant evolutionist who hasn't even bothered to see the movie.
You are commenting on a movie you haven't even seen. Is that an "evolved" point of view?
breakfastisready 3 years ago

Until then, I've read enough about it and seen enough of Stein and his drones to know it's a crock!

addendum: or... let's be kind and say 'intellectually challenged'.

Two long meandering posts.... meaning nothing.
Or...let's be king and say "such a poor use of the opposable thumb"

This is pretty typical of supporters of ID. Can't produce any good arguments of their own so they simply come up with bad counter arguments for other people's good ones. Thankfully, most people have the wit to see that for what it is. IDiocy.
dj2baduk 3 years ago
What's to argue?
You are too close minded to even see the movie! What a silly comment!
You are debating a movie you admit you haven't even seen.
You have shown little wit, and even less intellectual curiosity.
See the movie then you will be in informed about what we are talking about.
What, are you afraid of the ID boogeyman? :)

:)
