@Gerkinstock It was written because one of the KISS guys was in a band and a band members girlfriend kept calling him and calling him during rehearsals (I don't remember her name but it wasn't Beth). Someone then sat down and wrote a psuedo love song of the situation......

@cissyit You're right. Pete was that band member, and it was originally called Beck, as in Becky. (Spouse of a co-member of Pete's former band) It was later rewritten as Beth after Pete joined Kiss, and was an ode to Pete's then wife. I read it in one of Gene's books.

I heard on the radio that the other Kiss members hated this song so much they would walk off stage and leve Peter Kriss all by himself singing this song. I think it's cool thought that a band with a harder rock sound can be so diverse and turn out a beautiful piece of artwork like this.

well, that's good that peter didn't let that discourage him from singing it. it is quite a lovely song really. perhaps the other members felt that a ballad of this type would damage their hard rock/party all the time image that they worked to establish. it seemed to do just the opposite, however, and made them reach another demographic that they may have turned off previously. people are singing this at weddings, karaokee bars, and in movies (role models). it's a bonafide classic.. go pete!
