Since Muraji is a virtuoso guitarist she's heard lots of music in her life. So when she hears a piece that is repetitive and with a catchy melody, I think she is motivated to alter motifs, especially the main theme, allowing for a concept called "call and response" which makes it more interesting to listen to. You are correct, Oshio does a better job of the original, though I believe Muraji did not want the original anyways.

Amazing, each artist with their own thing added to it. Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence was a very subtle piece. I don't think her approach appropriate. Not saying this is a bad, I think Oshio Kataro version of it was more appropriated. That being said, this is very good.
