@bdrasin There isn't usually an "engineering calculus". There's the calculus the math majors take, and an engineer worth anything takes that one. I've had numerous "engineers" in my own classes. Business calculus is a joke. To teach calculus in high school, yes he needs to have taken calculus himself.
@fuwad84 yeah man but math degrees are useless on their own unless you get postgrad degrees or double major in related field (finance, accounting, statistics/probability, etc).
@bigmackbygilette Actually, that was unintentional. It's an editing mistake that I didn't realize I had made until after I published the video, and that I don't feel like fixing.
@theskepticaleye That makes more sense to me. It seemed a bit harsh, but given the advisor's statements at 1:54, 4:18, and 4:32, it didn't seem out of the question. Still like the video a lot.
Oh, man, I have had nearly that exact conversation so many times!! The only thing they left out was the part about how he only wants to be a math teacher so he can be a sports coach. LOL
where do you make these?

If he wants to teach high school math, he probably needn't really know engineering calculus IMO. Trig, on the other hand...

hey leave us engineers alone, I've seen the stuff you math majors have to do, it makes me pee my pants.

Calculus and differential equations are *part* of "real" math, and differential equations is a field of active research in many directions.

this was making the rounds in our math department at St. Mary's University. very funny!

I like how the advisor equates "general education" with Business classes.
