Plain and simple -- money. Gametap didn't think they were getting enough gameplay from the 'explorers' as we were called, and Cyan gave up after one year. Hopefully, Cyan will still release it to the public to host individual shards and run their own games.
I am now playing WoW, and am trying to get an image of what kinds of people are playing it, and i must say, in Myst Online, there are people that help each other.
In WoW that is too, but not so much, and they sometimes talk in l33t ^^, so you wont always understand what they say :P
That's interesting. I always thought people in WoW just kill each other. So that game has never been an option for me. However, I'm not into violent games.
Colour me wrong -- MO:UL is back!

I loved to be in Myst Online. I miss all those places and I miss the great community of helpful and kind people.
