  • I like both Vampira and Elvira. u_u

  • I love vampira.

  • All videos like this are worthless with a huge ugly logo hanging over the top of it, crushing out all possible enjoyment. Estate PR guys are fools to think that any fan would sit still for such money-grubbing nonsense - these are supposed to be videos, not distracting billboards.

  • She looks a lot like Famke Jansen I think.

  • I always wanted to see Vampira's opening, if you know what I mean.

  • Goh

  • Did you see her waste!!! My god

  • I just love this, but I can't understand what she said.

  • @casestudyification "Screaming relaxes me so"

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx Thanks! Primal scream therapy.

  • I love it!!!

  • wow! q cintura mas pequeña!!

  • Esto es vomitvo...

  • Is that the music from the Shining?

  • @dantanasgirl I haven't seen the Shining, but I think the music used there is from Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. The music here is from Bela Bartok's Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta; when the horns come in near the end it switches to Gustav Holst's The Planets (Uranus).

  • I love It!!

  • another flick that inspired glen danzig to write, loved the misfits and the song`vampira` still is a great song

  • a gay man finding a woman attractive is not exactly a compliment.

  • Vampira was an OG - original goth

  • Orson Welles gave her the clap.

  • beatifull finn :)

  • By the way, does anyone at all have footage of that on episode of The Vampira Show that was released?

  • Shes SPOOKtacular!

  • The five dislikes have to be from Elvira.

  • Wow.

  • que cintura tan ...bonita...

  • can anyone understand what she says after she screams/ please tell me? i'm going to use her to open my drama solo.

  • @Gace666 She says , Screaming relaxes me so.

  • @tamerswan MILF!MILF!MILF!!

  • Her waist looks like it's in pain lol

  • That was awesome!

  • She's an icon -3. It's such a shame that later generations were robbed of the opportunity to see episodes of her show.

  • oh wow when i signed up for WoW i was going to pick thevampireprincess but it was taken then vampira popped into my head

  • why is the audio for the vampira clip the exact same as the audio in the Shining when the little boy and his mom are in the labyrinth ??? please help i dont understand the corelation

  • @skyler8082012 What? You mean the music is the same?

  • @Zenistential ya its exactly the same , how come this is weird to me

  • OMGGGG i didnt think such an old tv show could scare me now but when she screamed i was thinking of an evil creature beside me '_' the monster in insidious movie Q.Q damn!

  • damn she was hot!!! it would be great to see more footage from the show!

  • She was such a hip cat.

  • So fine

  • The first song was used in "The Shining". Creepy.

  • almost had a heart attack when she screamed. haha

  • (Un)fortunately the only Vampira episode released on DVD is a reconstructed episode of The Vampira Show featuring the movie, The Thirteenth Guest. The only known kinescope films of the show are held in a private collection and have not been publicly seen since the series ended in 1955. So, PLEASE, have a heart and release the damn show. We want it!

  • Thats my grandmas best friend in high school she asked me to look her up; my grandmas a Finnish emigrant as well.

  • shes hot.

  • and the food was better back then god what I wouldn't give for a cheeseburger with onions with a side order of fries and a old time coke not this new crap!!

  • As a kid, I used to see Vampira on the Central Park West Bus in New York. She was always dressed in black. .And yes she really had a 18 inch waist. Or so it appeared! Kids would walk to the back of the bus and ask her "Hey lady are you Vampira"? And she would smile this mysterious, smug smile (not showing her teeth). In later years, I would see her still dressed in all black walking around 72nd Street East and 3rd Avenue in New York. Way creepy! But lots of fun! I understand Elvira got sued!

  • @aholmes99

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Vampira lived and worked in Los Angeles her whole life, you saw a nutjob imitating her.

  • @aholmes99 Elvira didn't get sued. She tried to sue her but the court ruled in favor of Elvira.

  • @aholmes99 VAMPIRA Maila Nurmi NEVER LIVED IN NEW YORK KID! Sorry! She lived in California all her remaining life until death...very poorly too. Yes, she sued Cassandra Peterson for the similarities between Elvira and Vampira which there are many. the judge threw the case out...

  • @mrfrogbutt1 - Amazingly Chuck (Bayonne Bleeder) Wepner sued Silvester Stallone using a similar argument & he was reportedly awarded millions. These courts are so friggin unfair & inconsistent in the application of their rules & the law. Clearly, Miss Nurmi was correct - she produced evidence that she & Miss Peterson met to discuss the creation of a new TV likeness of the earlier character. When the discussions failed, Elvira was created without proper authorization.

  • @1400deadwood I wish someone would post the Vampira Documentary from 1995 called Vampira:About Death,Sex and Taxes....she was a fascinating woman and Im somewaht obsessed with her...I collect all things Vampira

  • Mutta sen veli oli" pirunmoinen "juoksia...Jo silloi oli erotiikkaa ...heh heh..

  • For the love of all that is healthy woman, eat a sandwich!

  • I thought all footage of her show was lost.....

  • john cena could beat vampira

  • She scares me... in a good way.

  • Vampira rules.

  • Olikohan tämä Maila Nurmen kirkuminen mallina ,elokuvassa psyko.

  • brilliant.

  • my channel has much better material.

  • I like it ... but ... how did she put her waist in that way ...?

  • @chicoplateado

Yeah... freaky. I recently read about that. She had a self-constructed corset made of plastic tubes... and got into it by an extensive use of flesh softeners.

  • @zer0nemo that kind of makes me cringe with pain. I guess the old saying 'Beauty is pain' wasn't just made up for no reason..lol! Maila was just absolutely stunning with so much charisma :)

  • she's so fucking cool. i got mad love for elvira too. ;)<3

  • As much as i love Elvira, Vampira is the original!

  • 1950's all the way!

  • Her waist is freaky!

  • Adore this!

  • Years ago, I would meet Ms. Nurmi at parties in Hollywood. She was always intelligent and insightful, very generous with her recollections of James Dean, Ed Wood, and a fascinating culture that has long since disappeared.

  • how did she get her waist like that?

  • @maddiegott Extreme corset synching I believe.

  • Is it just 1 episode available on dvd or more?

  • yeah her waist was scary thin and she was more beautiful than in this clip. i think it's the make-up. in "plan 9" she was stunningly beautiful

  • Aside from everything, the only real thing that scares me is her wasteline. Seriously, that can't be healthy. It's actually thinner than her head. But I gotta respect her dedication.

  • EYEBROWS! xD

  • my friend met her in `95

  • Hey Maila! Meet me at Googies after the show! Jimmy Dean's gonna be there...

  • @mikey42 You got it! hamburger with onions and a chocalate shake please

  • That wasn't scary. That was arousing, lol.

  • what did she say? I can hear her.

  • what did she say? the audio is very low

  • legend! 8'-)

  • Also used alot in The Twilight Zone

  • Comment removed

  • Her waist is soooooo tiny!

  • The waist is too small!!!

  • She was even more beautiful without the wig and make up of Vampira. She was a real bombshell! A real 50s pin-up like we use to see on the old pinu-up artworks.

  • How can any man say Vampira was ugly???? Im a gay man and Vampira was one of the HOTTEST women on the planet!!!!

  • @sheilaboy44 comment is win

  • @sheilaboy44 You would say that because you're gay.

  • @sheilaboy44 Hahahah! You and I both!

  • @sheilaboy44 Yeah, GAY man. Don't get me wrong, I'd hit it, but your logic is a little bit flawed.

  • @sheilaboy44 That freak'n waste is crazy!

  • @sheilaboy44 yeah, she does!!!!, do you think Dave Salmoni is beautiful?

  • YESSSS!!! cool eh!!!

  • Bartok then Holst

  • Wow this just brought back a repressed memory from 55 years ago, I was about 4 years old and saw this on TV, scared the shit out of me and I went running out of the room when she screamed.

  • Vampira was cool before it was ever invented. She was a true beatnik. And distant relative of Olympic hero Paavo Nurmi!

  • @linkfreak404 i know exactly how u feel i was born one year before u in 1992

i miss the old days as well:/

im 17 year old girl and i hate movies like twillight i think its shit cuz its a poorly written story, i love romantic vampires but not like in twillight and vampire diaries i think it sucks but i like true blood cuz the show is not for teenagers audience its more for grown ups.

  • The music was also used in some Twilight Zones.

  • at :45 it's Uranus by Holst but before what you hear is Bartok Music for Strings, Percussion & celeste.

What a great choice of music.

  • amazing

  • Holy Crap her waist is sooooo small!!!!

  • 0:33 - 0:36

    HOLY F***** SH*****!!!!

  • I'm doing a monologue docu-drama on her in theatre class. does anyone know what she says in this tid-bit? I need it for the reinactment.

  • @xDivinexInsanityx seriously what is she saying?!

  • Comment removed

  • @twiggycosmicyob I think it's, "Screaming in the night makes me so...."

  • @ASimpleDreamScript She's actually saying "Screaming relaxes me so" but your line will definely get the boys going!

  • Horror Icon and Diva!!! RIP Maila!

  • That scream was blood curdling! Actually scared me a bit!

  • god look at that tiny little waist, thats amazing!

  • dude i know its really cool

  • WTF? Its the same music late used in "The Shining" (1980)

  • @hiitsmewutsup09

I think itt's Bartok Music for Strings, Percussion & celeste. Dunno about the louder music towards the end.

  • beautiful

  • I'm glad there is some footage left over from the series.

  • lol thats so cool ah yes finaly i love watching older shows and what not dont get me wrong i like a lot of new stuff but its good to see where it all came from ah i love how that is so errie and stuff lol its sad that she left us last year

  • she looked amazing!

  • believe or not her waist is real, and no she didnt have a bad diet. its year of wearing smaller and smaller corsets to shrink your waist, and its a very comon practise especialy in those times...

  • There's an interview of Mail Nurmi in which she said she was anorexic and had some self-esteem problems at that time, but the Vampira character made more confident.

  • she's hungry

  • What did she say?

  • After the scream, she said : " Ouh...screaming relaxes me so ! !

  • Good God! Did she have ribs removed or something?!

  • Vampira, whose real name was Maila Nurmi, just died last year (2008) at age 86

  • I'm sorry you are very wrong....like all vampires she is only resting for now!

  • does the dvd have the actual footage from back then? or is it re-acted? god i love vampira....

why did she only exist 50 something years ago....

i was born in 1993 for god sake! its not fair....

    the old days were better...

  • i know right?

  • @linkfreak404 I feel the same! I was born in 1991 and love all the Vincent Price, Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee etc stuff.

I also hate it when people compare Vampira to Elvira, they're just not the same. Vampira was way better.

  • look at those boobies

  • ha one of my favorite lines from Ed Wood was wen Bella and Ed were watching Vampira and Bella says "...look at those jugs." :D

  • Cool!

  • ohly shit she made me jump when she screamed!

  • Didn't they use that same music later on in The Shining?

  • Yes, they did. It's by Bela Bartok

  • @vampirasatticdotcom

what? I'm pretty sure the music I'm hearing is Uranus by Holst's Planets at :45

  • Music for percussion and strings!,,awesome

  • Comment removed

  • @vampirasatticdotcom

If you mean the four notes, it's from Holtz "Planets", "Uranus, The Magician"

  • @shadowwolf41 No, it's by Gustav Holst, The Planets, Uranus.

  • Comment removed

  • I heard they replaced all her ribs with chicken bones.

  • that waistline scared me more than the scream

  • wow shes my idol

  • I love this woman ! the way, she looks and speaks after the scream , 0:34, it´s so ... charming... cute...erotic... I don´t have the right words ...For my , she is more attractive, than most of today-women. If I could travel back in time , I would do everything, to get her...... shit, why did it have to happen, that I was born 50 years later than her ?

  • It obviously does remind me of the classic scene where Martin Landau (as Bela) is watching her in "Ed Wood."

  • CAN YOU IMAGINE....how much fun that must have been to watch that on your little black and white TV in 1954. A Tall glass bottle of coke and popcorn at your side.....maybe light up a few "Lucky Strikes" too. Heaven....pure heaven

  • What a Waist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hehehehehe

  • how does a woman get her waist so tiny like that?

  • really tight custom corsets! and i dunno if you've noticed but a lot of women had tiny waists in the 1950's but that's because they wore high waisted jeans and all that good stuff that helped their bodies form an hourglass shape. nowadays gals wear low waisted jeans which may be considered sexy but sure as hell don't help you get a nice figure (it lets it all hang loose) and ya need to exercise too :D do the stomach vacuum or something that helps you get a smaller waist.

  • Hey Betty, thanks for the info on that. Much apprciated. Take care

  • she had a 17 inch waist.

  • they made her wear a thight corset since her childhood. something similar was made to teen pop stars in the 80s-90s, they wrapped their chest very tight, preventing developement of this area, thus, making them look younger for more time.

  • Hey thanks for the info, much apprciated..

  • no problem =)

sorry if I told you the same thing spookbettie did, did not see her comment at the time

  • Hey no problem, it just verafies to me that thats how it works so thanks again:D

  • awesome opening!! "Screaming relaxes me so." I second that one.

  • vampira looks lot like mortica addams.

but then thats probly because the costume and look o vampira is partly based off Charles addam's darwing for the charture.

  • Her waist is tiny :O

  • Awesome intro. I love it.

  • I loved this woman. A truly amazing bohemian intelligent being, and every Goth's dream I'm sure. Robbie.

  • Maila Nurmi was finnish.
