You have good tutorials! But I'm not sure if anyone has told you, but you shouldn't cut your shirts while wearing them. It's best to lay them on a flat surface, the floor or a table is best, draw out your design or mark where you want to cut, and go from there. I've been sewing my big band shirts for years it has never failed me.

I think the hairstyling experience makes you better than most of us at working in a mirror and trusting your hands to cut things blind and have it turn out okay.
