This is great.Never expected to find this little gem of recorded rock history.Groovy,baby.This is when rock & roll was rock& roll kids. You can't go back but you can take it forward.
@cast390 Because Scottish singers are among the very best... my personal favorite was Jimmy Dewar, who was a good Christian man and the inimitable voice of the Robin Trower band for many years.
OMG... My favourite dead guitarist... My favourite live guitarist... and my favourite childhood band... Shame the version's a bit crappy but.. What the hey ; )
OMG .... UFB......minutes ago, I listened to a Free ballad, and was wondering, why isn't Rodgers getting together w/ Frazier and the one of few alive who could stand on the lead guitar for Koss: Blackmore ??!!! I had never heard of Sweet, nor have I ever heard of this line up. I can't believe it.
This tune reveals the difference between Koss & Blackmore so crystal clearly. Koss did not overpower the vocalist; where Blackmore makes the fucker spit his lungs out. To be clear I LIKE Blackmore
@EarCandyJar NEVER heard of Sweet? wow, where have you been? lol, seriously though, they were a fantastic band, who infuenced so many bands but never had the recognition they so deserved check out
@blueleadguitar - "NEVER heard of Sweet? wow, where have you been? lol" .... clearly under a rock or somethin' ... {8?). There is something resembling familiarity in the cerebral fog, but am not sure if it is just power of suggestion or long forgotten memories. Ironically, I have a very good memory including for details. What a decade (68-76) that was. Damn ... 34+ years already flown by, and I feel every one in my bones ... :(. I recall Set Me Free - tks for the suggestion. Cheer(io)s... 8?).
@blueleadguitar - on the vid of "Set Me Free" I noticed a copy of an album cover lamenting on Ballroom Blitz, and that pretty much placed & tied a bow on it !!! Damn sure heard (of) them, but ... As I said minutes ago, in that decade there was an incredible amount of talent. So many were transitory, others were one hit wonders, one-off collaborations, etc. Check out the "Bios/Family Tree" at thehighwaystar d_o_t com - a great source of info.
Blackmore is a hero. And I've loved the Sweet since Kindergarten. The idea of them on stage together is heavenly. But geez, these cats are really off their musical game here. And it's not like it's the toughest song in the world to play either.
Agreed. The recording is a rock artifact. And not entirely unlike some other live DP cuts I've heard as far as everyone needing a good tune up. Hey, if you want perfection, stick to the studio releases.
well as I've said....I was right there in the twelth row....and actually I had this on a cassette tape......Sweet is my favorite group and Purple the second....what a night!!!! Jadranko.....I sold you my Sweet collection....years ago....including the ticket from this show!!!!!! I AM THE WORLDS BIGGEST SWEET FAN!!!!!!
Brilliant ,thankyou so much for posting this,Great that both Ritchie and Sweet did this tribute to Koss RIP,such a sad loss to the UK music scene that both Free and Sweet will never reform with their original lineups. Thanks once again Jadranko!!
Yes thanks very much for sharing this although to be truthful the vocals don't sound too great and it doesnt really sound too hot, though like others said, it was a really warm and genuine thing to do.
Wow! I remember reading about this jam with Blackers in Creem magazine! Not great, but still very cool. And it still would've been great to see this show (why didn't I?). Thanks for sharing.

:D I think they were all drunk or just exhausted that night. LOL
It was the last minute deal and the end of the concert, but hell, it's still a little piece of anthology ;)

Brian sounds very Scottish here. This must have been his real accent. But he usually sounds like a Londoner! R.I.P. sweetheart BC.

I listen to Sweet, growing up in the early 70s. Led to becoming a Purple head...
I'd heard about this and wanted to hear it. Vocals are a tad disappointing, but gotta love the guitar work from all.
Thanks for sharing.

It's occurred to me how much Sweet's "Restless" was inspired by this song, Free's "All Right Now"...anyone else get that?
RodZenCohns 2 years ago
Nope. Not to me, not even close ;)
Jadranko23 2 years ago
Oh hell yeah RodZen, you nailed it.
I knew 'Restless' reminded me of something.
And now I know!
