  • I saw these guys with protest the hero and maylene and the sons of disaster like 8 months ago. I didn't even know until my friend brought up the concert today. I feel retarded ;)

  • BTBAM is sick! Oh and Tesseract is pretty cool too haha

  • How I wish I could turn on my radio and listen to this kind of music instead. :D

  • This has to be the best genre of metal to listen to while high :)

  • what tuning do they use?

  • seen Monumnets, TesseracT and Periphery live! Monuments owned all lol

  • saw these guys with protest the hero, and again when they were with between the buried and me and animals as leaders. inredible both times.

  • If Tesseract, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Between the Buried and Me, and Opeth went on tour together I would shit. I know Opeth is fairly unrelated to the rest... but Opeth = good

  • @2momGaming Opeth = Shit

  • @justyn3tears Mikael Akerfeldt is one great vocalist. You can't call them shit. You just can't.

  • @justyn3tears perhaps you blow

  • @justyn3tears motivate please

  • geezus!! these guys are like the kings of oddly timed metal songs!

  • @sxejdn No. That would be Meshuggah.

  • Wow.

  • Djent djent djent djent djent djent

  • finally...took you 5 fucking years you shitters!

  • Yes, Tesseract and Thrice have similar sounds because of the tone that......im sorry I can't fake this anymore, they sound nothing alike. You sir, are an idiot.

  • They remind me of Thrice

  • what linkin park would sound like as djent.

  • @Hibenzki Ya know man. That's sounds good and all but I, The Breather tried doing Faint and it wasn't that good and I love I, The Breather so let's just leave Linkin Park out of the Djent cover question.

  • @Onedreamtolive He didn't tell them to cover the song........... He just said it sounds like Linkin Park with a djenty guitar style. lol

  • @DjentlemanNate Wow. You're right. I feel dumb. I kinda see what he was saying too but I think the djent version of Linkin Park is Hackivist. X) But that's an obvious comparison.

  • @Onedreamtolive Yeah haha. Hacktivist is basically linkin park with guitarist who can use good tone.

  • @DjentlemanNate Yea. And much more intricate instrumentals. :)

  • @Hibenzki why mention this shitty band, WHY???

  • @ppriess Hmm, I would not say that they are shitty, or better: Not completely. They where pretty good in their earlier days but after Minutes to Midnight (Which had only three or four good songs...) they completely turned into a fully mainstreamed, meaningless band, yes.

  • I would die to see a gig with Tesseract, Periphery and Animals As Leaders.. O.O

  • @xSystEmFrEak Meshuggah and Animals As Leaders in April :D

  • @xSystEmFrEak saw tesseract animals as leaders and between the buried and me.

    i fucking came many loads.

  • @fornever5656

oh yeah dude, i saw that show too, it was sick. saw it in san francisco, its funny, i was most disappointed by the headlining act (BTBAM), haha. i don't think anyone would believe me, but i caught a drumstick thrown by the drummer from Tesseract, i don't know his name off the top of my head. that thing's sitting in my room right now, its torn to shit, haha. he probably goes through a pair a night, looking at how beat up this thing is.

  • @leperaffinity21 Between the Buried and me was fucking amazing.

They did an improv song out of the saying "b.t Bam!"

the crowd was chanting it and they made up a chuggy little 45 second improv that they made up on the spot.

  • @xSystEmFrEak

i got two out of three one time, all that was missing was periphery. que lastima. i think that tour may have happened one time, or was it scale the summit instead of tesseract?

  • 3:14 LYYYYSOLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • Ahh, back in the day when the only Tesseract songs that were around were half-completed "Sax Solos" and about 100 songs called "Part 1".

  • Fuck yeah for English bands. Go go limeys! TesseracT ftw!

  • this MV and song are seriously out of this world, and no one is discussing those? wtf with all the genre shit man

  • @shucklesors probably because this genre isnt as tainted as the others? it's relatively new and people fucking eat that up now-a-days

  • omfg stop fucking around and enjoy the music^^

  • does anyone here know what a real teseract is? like the geometric shape thing?

  • @iiiPReHiSToRiC Its the 4 dimensional equivalent of a cube, the 3 dimensional equivalent of a square.

  • @Traedeer haha i didnt think anyone knew. try to look for an image of a rotating tesseract. its crazy.

  • Tesseract remind me somewhat of Karnivool.

  • Meshuggah+Linkin Park = Tesseract

  • @luchobassify Tesseract + Tesseract = tesseract.

  • @MaarlindDubstep wouldn't it be "Tesseract*2"? or is Tesseract equal to zero or one?

  • @luchobassify Meshuggah + Linkin Park = WHat the fuck are you talking about!?

  • @MrRThomasen I'll be honest though. When I first heard Deception, I thought the singer sounded eerily similar to Chester from Linkin Park.

  • The vocals sound very Paul Masvidalish. Thumbs up.

  • lol i cant even play it on 360. how awesome is that?

  • Hipster metal.

    vocals suck.

  • @MrBloodDrive go get help

  • @MrBloodDrive Are you retarded or something?!!!!!!

  • @MrBloodDrive are you broken?

  • @MrBloodDrive

Wow youre dumb. HURR DJENT NOT POPULAR YET INSTA HIPSTER

  • @MrBloodDrive sings better than you ever could dipshit

  • this is the 300 of metal videos

  • Korn meets Protest The Hero meets Periphery = This.

  • i dont understand this video its probably to deep for my human mind to understand

  • 83 people ar cylons

  • starring will smith

  • holy fuck... this video is amazing.

    sweet band too

  • Holy Shit! The singer has just destroyed EVERYTHING build by this amazing band! :v Jesus the bassist is extreme!

  • una masa

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!

  • 1:32 they are in Solitude \m/

  • Was elliot in the band when this vid was made?

  • @emann43 No

  • I hate the term "djent" its fucking progressive metal ya'll.

  • @JustinSamland I'll progress your metal.

  • @poisonedxtears1993 Thanks man, my band needs a singer if you can sing! haha

  • @JustinSamland haha nah I can't sing worth shit..bassist all the way

  • @JustinSamland From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Djent[1] is a heavy metal music subgenre that emerged as a spin-off from progressive metal.

  • @butcherer100 Oh I know what it is I just get sick of all these dumb sub genres ya know, no need for it.

  • @butcherer100 Djent is a technique, not a genre of music. There isn't any such thing as a "djent band."

  • @RensHalo Thats like saying indie is not a genre, it started as a way to describe bands that independently distributed their music but they all played through the power of the internet and the dire need of people to label and pigeonhole bands it became the name of a genre. Djent may have started as the name of a technique but it has now evolved into something else.

  • @mast0d0nfan Thanks, now I dont need to explain :)

  • @mast0d0nfan Maybe you are right, but I don't understand why people need to label everything. I never heard Meshuggah call their style djent. A year ago everybody call this "Math metal" now is djent, tomorrow will be something else. For me this is wrong. (Sorry for my bad English :))

  • @mast0d0nfan - i think indie was more labelled by its independant influences - as opposed to being influenced by specific bands

  • @JustinSamland melodic hardcore*

  • @xXKiLlcOrEXx lol absolutely not hardcore, at all.

  • epic video Oo

    great song

  • Nice

  • sounds so wussy after listening to vildhjarta. i'll leave this shit for the tool fans.

  • @pancakerepairman you sir, are a true djentelman.

  • @pancakerepairman You need to diversify your musical tastes, sir.

  • @pancakerepairman vildhjarta are an interesting discovery. tesseract, are sheer majestic magnificence however. thanks for the trolling attempt, now, please, GTFO.

  • If Djent is a genre then i might as well call Sweeps a genre too.

  • @mayydaymurda Djent sounding chords are the basis of a rhythm oriented structure featured in a variety of albums by a variety of bands, covering a variety of themes.

that's why the genre has taken the name Djent. Go ahead and do something this revolutionary with sweeps. There's nothing more basic and stupid than sweeps. That from a classically trained guitarist.

  • @steliospitsillides Pretty sure you didn't catch the sarcasm too, would have saved me 30 seconds of reading something i already know.

  • Love this song. They're awesome. So sweeeeeeeet.

  • do not forget to change to 720p

  • @vargaa86 or just set as default ;)

  • I love Tesseract. I remember when I seen them for the first time with Maylene and Protest The Hero. Their vocalist had his fly unzipped the entire performance. I told him after. He was said "I did that on purpose for maximum sex appeal."

  • @somewhatsonny for who? the audience made up of 97% dudes?

  • @somewhatsonny Sounds like Dan. :3

  • I was brought here by comments posted on an Animals as Leaders song, but I'm liking these guys, too. He's a lot better than Periphery's inger in my opinion. Solid music as well.

  • Kinda tired of people classifying bands as "djent" when it's just a guitar style not a genre :/

  • @0fmachines I think djent is a genre only because the playing is marked by using polyrythms, syncopation or something of that nature. If anything, I'd classify it maybe as a subgenre? of experimental metal or math metal.

  • @SirAlaska isn't djent just a word made up by one of the guitarist from meshuggah for the the sound of chugging on guitars?

  • @AtrumAethra I'm not 100% who coined the phrase or who came up with it, but the inception of Djent is definitely accredited to Meshuggah. I think at first it was just a word, but I truly feel that Djent has evolved into its own niche of metal. The guitar and bass sound aren't the only think that are easily recognizable. The songs are all rhythmically driven with the drummer playing syncopated beats, sometimes in weird time signatures, some times not. Just my opinion though.

  • @SirAlaska Djent is a technique, not a genre of music. There isn't any such thing as a "djent band."

  • Too many good teams out there, but they are all poor sin of fantasy ..... 99% of them are emulating Meshuggah

  • @TcrashDnB yeah you're probably right, I heard Meshuggah also uses guitars and drums. copycats they be!

  • troppi gruppi bravi in giro, ma peccato sono tutti scarsi di fantasia.....il 99% di loro sono emulazione dei meshuggah

  • if ATB, VoM and Tess. toured together, i think i would shit myself and die

  • Olly Steele did a good job playing that crackhead

  • Bass slapping ftw!

  • Bring back Abi!

  • What is that? Is that bass I hear? Hot damn It is!

  • I thought I was listening to Sikth on and off this whole time hahaha

  • I'm actually one of those "old school" metalheads that dislike the new metal/deathcore bands, but I admit, this shit ROCKS LIKE HELL! Djent <3

  • Dan quit. Stop hating on Elliot.

  • Nice vid, all the best guys!

  • The thing that separates TesseracT from all the other djent bands out there for me is the bass. TesseracT makes good use of the bass to emphasize groove and rhythms as well as backing-up/beefing-up the guitar riffs.

  • @blackshadowbass Dude, I feel you. These riffs are meaty as hell~!

  • @BassMonkeyRush Definitely, you could really feel it live!

  • @m0eDr3adzz Nice comment... except you mean accept not except.

  • Which Metroid game is this footage from?

  • @m0eDr3adzz Oh, it's been so long since I read the word "inimical" on a Youtube video, thankyou <3.

  • I'll just say this to Dan....If you didn't want to be in a bad ass band like TesseracT then you don't deserve to be in it. Especially when you leave to go to a gay ass pop band. Elliot is going to fit in just fine.

  • AWANTE TESSERACT SALUDOS DESDE CHILE EXCELENTE BANDA PAREN DE HABLAR DE OTROS VOCALISTAS ESO ES PASADO APOYEN AHORA EN EL PRESENTE LA BANDA LO NECESITA....

  • 3:37 the heaviest hihat "chick" I've heard in a while

  • 2:56 the guitarist have a chimp spanner shirt ...just sayin

  • Maynard is def a good singer, he obviously doesn't have the control or range like Dan but so? His timing and tone control are masterful and fit perfectly with the music. I want to see you right and sing something like tool. If you think he sounds the same in every song then you are dumb, deaf and picky.. Compare reflection to lateralus to the pot. Tesseract is ftw also btw :)

  • @Sidepiece2 I know you're defending Maynard and shit, but to say he doesn't have the control or range of Dan?? Dude.. you need to experience more years of life.

  • @organicate uh what? what does years of life have to do with vocal performance?

  • @Sidepiece2 Guess that was me being condescending. I was just finishing school when I saw Tool on their first UK tour. I have grown up with them and seen them many times.. just to say that Maynard doesn't have as much control or range is a huge mistake. In fact, it's ridiculous. That's all.

  • @organicate okay bud, it is totally ridiculous. You're right :D except you don't give any examples of how it is a huge mistake or ridiculous :/... This confuses me :(... As I don't know much about vocals and am just a humble sax player xD

  • @Sidepiece2 Anyone who says Maynard doesn’t have range or control, especially in comparison to this video…that’s just funny. You guys should (objectively) check out a perfect circle, 3 libras live on Leno. (Try to ignore his hair) The 'you don't SEE me' part = amazing mother effin range and control. Not to put down the singer of Tesseract at all...just seems the music doesn't showcase vocals as much as APC does.

    Rock on.

  • @Sidepiece2 Watch a perfect circle live on leno 3 libras. superior range and control. Ignore his hair.

  • @MrMikeBlase I never said maynard doesn't have range or control, I think he has great range and control... That I think dan has a wider range and better control is my opinion and is SUBJECTIVE. So cry less?

  • @organicate Maynard DOESN'T have the range of Dan by a long stretch, but his vocals are less about the tune, and more about the rhythm and the lyrics. He treats his vocals like a rhythmic instrument, whereas Dan treats his like a tuneful instrument. Both very different styles, but both perfect for the bands they sing with.

  • @organicate Yes...too true.

  • 3:13. HOLY. FUCK.

  • Dude...Periphery grew up haha

  • So thats what happens when tyrone goes too long without his crack.

  • Except Maynard James Keenan isn't half the singer that Dan Tompkins is..

  • @Dolf9271986 You take that back right now. I've seen them both live and Maynard is spine chilling.

  • @bedofrazorsqwerty I believe he would be. But in terms of actual singing and vocal talent, the guy doesn't hold a candle.

  • @Dolf9271986 Bullshit. In terms of you being an uneducated charlatan with no real point to be made, you are wrong. Maybe you don't care much about vocal range and the ability to perfectly duplicate the sound on record CONSISTENTLY live. The only ruler you should gauge a musician is their live act. The studio lies. Can make bad sound good and can never accurately capture the great. Tesseract writes great music, but failed to deliver the vocals live. Of course they are in the same group as most.

  • @bedofrazorsqwerty Failed to deliver vocals live? Must have seen them on a bad night :P Dan Thomkins is a trained singer, and actually a vocal coach and teacher. Maynard has hardly any range and can only duplicate his vocals live because they're all the fucking same. It's almost spoken word slow, and he hardly ever 'sings' :P. In fact, what he does in terms of singing is very, very easy. I'm a singer and Keenan and Thomkins have very different vocal styles, but Thomkins is twice the 'singer'.

  • @Dolf9271986 comparing a ''singer'' to a devine being is rather naive isnt it? :)

  • @MoThaX1 He's not a divine being :P I'm sick of people worshiping that guy... Tool is good, and he can write lyrics, but he's not Shakespeare... Sometimes I think people forget that, and now he's some idol... Not just me... Even he can't understand it. He's not THAT great! You wanna worship a divine being, worship Dan Swano or Chuck Schuldiner.

  • @Dolf9271986 Tool is not a person it's a band dude.........

  • @Dolf9271986 But he also does amazing things in Puscifer and makes great wine. I heard he can be kind of a douche in person, but I'm not sure if that is true.

  • @rwfsmith I'm sure he can sing, just, definitely not on the level of Dan. Part of him being a douche is that he doesn't really like media attention.. He's often quiet and like you said may come off as sort of a douche. He's intensely shy.

  • @bedofrazorsqwerty Uhh, he seems pretty spot-on in every live recording i've seen Dan in...Everybody has "off" days man, don't like YOU don't.

  • it rlly does sound like tool and meshuggah mixed... im inlove

  • Messhugah coined the term "djent" and alot of the new wave of "djent" bands have said that their biggest influence in their style of music such as Tesseract, After the Burial, and Animals As Leaders has been Meshuggah...

  • what's with all these noob comments.... stop comparing them to tool or meshuggah.... messhugah did not invent Djent by the way, it's over a thousand years old... mabe over 4000 years old...... try listening to some fucking Daf drums from persia..... Djent style is nothing new

  • @420protoman

Erm. Messhugah coined the term "djent", an onomatopoeia for a palm muted power chord...

  • @420protoman 4000 years old.....could you point me to the web page you saw this on I would like to read it or tell me the book you saw this fact that Djent metal is this old since power isn't that old

  • @420protoman noob...comments? well you sir, have a fantastic ability to be able to hear time signatures and sound. Do you have synesthesia? You were completely spot on that was incredible. 4000 years old may be an overstatement though... neither you nor I are anywhere near that old, therefore we can't judge

  • Sounds like Hacride, but in less interesting.

  • Tool, Cynic and Meshuggah

  • Saw them last week in St. Louis, pretty bad ass show. The crowd didnt quite know what to expect though, everyone was just headbanging. No mosh pit. :/ But these guys were out talking to people while AAL an BTBAM were playing! Theyre so friendly. Great musicians.

  • @KDF10580 Yeah, I saw them in Chicago. I got pictures with all of them :) They are all really cool.

  • I wonder how much they had to pay Tosin to be in this video..

  • This song reminds me a little to meshuggahs shed

  • @lamuertenvida Exactly what I thought

  • Its a shame Dan left the band... he had such power and made his mark.

  • Just decided to give this band a proper listen after hearing about them for a while....holy tits, I'm in love!

  • definatly in my top 5 prog/math band out there. keep it coming.

  • @m0eDr3adzz good shit

  • playlisted this. Tesseract == way too cool for clearchannel.

  • no, if meshuggah and tesseract had sex then they would be homosexuals

  • NEVER EVER CHANGE. EVER. HAILS TO YOU!! \m/

  • Damn...that was intense, 'scuse me while I go download a few of their albums.
