There are only about 8 girls in the video and that could either be her whole line (where no dark skin girls wanted to pledge that year) or they were just to busy to participate in the video. I agree with @strawberrie02 I am not an aka, and by far, not a hater, but when I first clicked on the video and it started displaying the young women, I too thought "why only light-skinned women". I think it is shameful of our race not to embrace black women of every skin tone. The paper bag thing is a disgrace.

Wow...they look like brainwashed slaves, all insults aside. Not just an observation of AKA, but the Greek thing as a whole. You get hazed and beaten for this? And crossing burning sands--for what? The devil is pleased, for sure. These beautiful young women could've been doing something more productive with their time. Some of these comments are extremely disrespectful, not only to the Alpha Kappa Alpha organization, but to all black Greek letter organizations. It's a shame that we, as black people, try to hurt one another rather than help one another. I think it would benefit my dear Soror "Miss Mykie" greatly and her work if she included more than just one type of AKA. In my opinion, if you're going to make a "theme" song for an organization -- let it be the best in all things.

I am a Soror and would have liked to see diversity in this video. AKA has more than just light skin members and members from Howard/Texas. For example, I am from Wisconsin. It would have been nice for this video to showcase that AKA is a global organization and has white/asaian/black/latina members alike. Just food for thought. Congrats on the song Soror!
@CHULAWE Our sorority does not discriminate and sisterhood is not defined by the color of one's skin. If she is passionate about our mission, will work hard to further our platforms, and loves AKA -- any woman can pursue membership. We were founded by African-American women but I don't believe our Founders' designed the sorority to be only for Black women. Matter of fact, that line of thinking would go against everything our sorority stands for and fought for during that time period.

@Netta3410 no it didnt...the 22 founders of Delta Sigma Theta were originially members of Alpha Kappa Alpha and if you look at the picture of the Delta founders many of them are darker skinned
@lhistorymajorl Yeah I know that now. There was a rivalry between the AKA's and the Deltas. Their were AKA's leaving that sorority to become Deltas. I bought Delta history book "In Search of Sisterhoold (Delta Sigma Theta and the Challenge of the Black Sorority Movement) by Paula Giddings.

@BajanRoots Why wouldn't you be surprised? If you're really Greek, then you should know how we (all of our orgs, not just AKA) are stereotyped. Also, how are u so certain the chapter is paper at your school? Even if they have huge lines, that doesn't mean they're paper. I've seen a line of 100+ spit our knowledge just like my small line of only 7. We operate well on the inside as we should do whether it's a large or small line.

All these ladies "literally" are owned by this organization, considering the fact that they swore oaths, to it, went through an initiation ceremony to it, and performed rituals to it, unfortunately these sororities and fraternities are based off the mystery religions of Greece and Egypt, (thats where the oaths and rituals come from.) I really hope these nice ladies renounce this organization :(

@yocorro90 I will never be a member of organizations that take components from the occult (oaths, rite of initiation, rituals) Sigma Pi Fi was the first one made(1904), which is the boule. The boule is a black secret society modeled after the occult skull and bones order, and freemasonry. Greek letter orgs, are veiled secret societies, only the initiated gets to see the hazing(paddling), eating of onions, and chants/songs which call on the name of the Greek deity represented by each chapter..
@stonebrownalien Hazing was outlawed in 1990. Anyone who does that sort of thing is going against their own organization. Does it still happen? Yes. Does everybody do it? No. I can't tell you the secrets of our sorority, but I assure you my organization DOES NOT have chants or songs which call on the name of ANY Greek deity. We are a Christian based organization. The only God we have ever praised, worshiped, prayed to, or sang to at any sorority event is Jesus.
@yocorro90 We all know hazing is outlawed, but it is still happening(you might not do it, but you are still part of the organization.) The history of these orgs do not have anything to do with Jesus(all 9 chapters are represented by a Greek or Egyptian pagan God.) The candidates had to swear oaths(Matthew 5:34-37 and James 5:12 are completely against that) "To thee O AKA, we pledge our hearts, our minds, our strength to foster thy teachings...etc. That sort of reverence should be for God only..

@yocorro90 AKA is one of the 9 chapters that make up the pan hellenic council, it is similar to the rest. I have done enough research to know that the pledging process is similar to that of the Skull and bones order, Freemasonry, The Rosicrucian order, Knights templar order, The illuminati etc...ALL secret societies do the same thing, which is to uphold secrecy, and have new people initiated(or cross over, so to speak). Nothing against you, I hate 2 faced organizations that show, yet hide stuff.

Some of these comments are extremely disrespectful, not only to the Alpha Kappa Alpha organization, but to all black Greek letter organizations. It's a shame that we, as black people, try to hurt one another rather than help one another. No, I'm not an AKA, and I'm not affiliated with any black Greek letter organization, it just hurts my heart when I see black hatred on one another. One day we will overcome this, one day.....

@mariawhat757 Insecure? As an AKA, I'm far from insecure (lol). It's a mere observation. I'm a light-skin AKA and I've done my research. I might encourage you though to do more research on why people are pointing out these observations.
I think it would benefit my dear Soror "Miss Mykie" greatly and her work if she included more than just one type of AKA. In my opinion, if you're going to make a "theme" song for an organization -- let it be the best in all things.

I am a Soror and would have liked to see diversity in this video. AKA has more than just light skin members and members from Howard/Texas. For example, I am from Wisconsin. It would have been nice for this video to showcase that AKA is a global organization and has white/asaian/black/latina members alike. Just food for thought. Congrats on the song Soror!

@CHULAWE Our sorority does not discriminate and sisterhood is not defined by the color of one's skin. If she is passionate about our mission, will work hard to further our platforms, and loves AKA -- any woman can pursue membership. We were founded by African-American women but I don't believe our Founders' designed the sorority to be only for Black women. Matter of fact, that line of thinking would go against everything our sorority stands for and fought for during that time period.

@Netta3410 no it didnt...the 22 founders of Delta Sigma Theta were originially members of Alpha Kappa Alpha and if you look at the picture of the Delta founders many of them are darker skinned

@lhistorymajorl Yeah I know that now. There was a rivalry between the AKA's and the Deltas. Their were AKA's leaving that sorority to become Deltas. I bought Delta history book "In Search of Sisterhoold (Delta Sigma Theta and the Challenge of the Black Sorority Movement) by Paula Giddings.

@BajanRoots Why wouldn't you be surprised? If you're really Greek, then you should know how we (all of our orgs, not just AKA) are stereotyped. Also, how are u so certain the chapter is paper at your school? Even if they have huge lines, that doesn't mean they're paper. I've seen a line of 100+ spit our knowledge just like my small line of only 7. We operate well on the inside as we should do whether it's a large or small line.

All these ladies "literally" are owned by this organization, considering the fact that they swore oaths, to it, went through an initiation ceremony to it, and performed rituals to it, unfortunately these sororities and fraternities are based off the mystery religions of Greece and Egypt, (thats where the oaths and rituals come from.) I really hope these nice ladies renounce this organization :(

@yocorro90 I will never be a member of organizations that take components from the occult (oaths, rite of initiation, rituals) Sigma Pi Fi was the first one made(1904), which is the boule. The boule is a black secret society modeled after the occult skull and bones order, and freemasonry. Greek letter orgs, are veiled secret societies, only the initiated gets to see the hazing(paddling), eating of onions, and chants/songs which call on the name of the Greek deity represented by each chapter..

@stonebrownalien Hazing was outlawed in 1990. Anyone who does that sort of thing is going against their own organization. Does it still happen? Yes. Does everybody do it? No. I can't tell you the secrets of our sorority, but I assure you my organization DOES NOT have chants or songs which call on the name of ANY Greek deity. We are a Christian based organization. The only God we have ever praised, worshiped, prayed to, or sang to at any sorority event is Jesus.

@yocorro90 We all know hazing is outlawed, but it is still happening(you might not do it, but you are still part of the organization.) The history of these orgs do not have anything to do with Jesus(all 9 chapters are represented by a Greek or Egyptian pagan God.) The candidates had to swear oaths(Matthew 5:34-37 and James 5:12 are completely against that) "To thee O AKA, we pledge our hearts, our minds, our strength to foster thy teachings...etc. That sort of reverence should be for God only..

The fact that you can't even spell Sigma Pi Phi correctly lets me know that you didn't do very good research. We are not affiliated with them either, so how can you judge all Greek organizations based on who they are?

@yocorro90 AKA is one of the 9 chapters that make up the pan hellenic council, it is similar to the rest. I have done enough research to know that the pledging process is similar to that of the Skull and bones order, Freemasonry, The Rosicrucian order, Knights templar order, The illuminati etc...ALL secret societies do the same thing, which is to uphold secrecy, and have new people initiated(or cross over, so to speak). Nothing against you, I hate 2 faced organizations that show, yet hide stuff.

Some are (Delta Sigma Theta's "mentor" is Minerva) but like I said, every organization is different. Stop basing all organizations on one. When these occult orgs have young folks kneelin at altars(which is a place of worship) one begs to ask, who is the God at that altar? when they pray to the "eternal spirit of alpha kappa alpha" who is that??
