I bought a yugo underfolder ak 47 and a yugo regular wooden stock ak 47 both for under 400 dollars each complete guns about 4 years ago and I love them both
@ginsboy2003 big fan of your polish underfolder ak build and PSL build and it's inspired me to start my own build. I have all that is need for the build i just have one question how would one go about setting the rivet for the scope mount using your rivet gun method?
@canoframs I used a special bucking bar I modified for my rivet gun to set the center rivet and I used a standard set for each end of the scope mount.
@ginsboy2003 Thank you, if you don't mind me asking for the recess for the rivet head on your modified rivet set that you machined with ball end-mill, what was the depth of the recess for the rivet head you created?
@canoframs It's .092 deep, you may need to get a piece of steel and test some rivets. There is also a little bit of hand forming with a dremel, but not much.
@1979aerocaprice You could use the same method I covered in the video or buy headspace gauges. I've built a number of virgin kits using the method shown in the video, its works.
deja vue, fuck! i distinctly remember having a conversation about head spacing in the gun shop on the "USS i wish i were there when it sunk (nondecom team)" and i remember someone saying you must be retarded to even attempt that with a live round and a real bolt!
@bluesparrowfish Guess the person who said that was a complete idiot. There is no other way to headspace a gun than use the original bolt. You either remove the firing pin on a bolt action or the hammer on this design. With no receiver on an AK build you don't have to worry about a hammer. Some know just enough to be dangerous.
What are the different options of pushing a barrel in and out of the trunion, I have no money for the big fancy press and obviously no money for taking it into a gunsmith to do it for me. :/
You can used a gear puller on the front trunnion and a piece of brass on the rear of the barrel to push the barrel out. For installation, you can use a piece of 1/4 inch threaded rod and some washers on each and to put the barrel back in. It didn't work so well for me though. Be careful if you just try to use the big hammer method. people have used something other than brass, like nickels on the rear of the barrel and deformed the chamber of their gun. Nickel is hard.
Where did you find the plans for your jig? I have found dozens of different jigs for sale, but not a single set of plans for a bending jig. By the way, I just love your build videos, they work well for the beginner or the semiprofessional.

why remove the barrel? why not just build on it?

@casmith245
Can't set rivets with the barrel in the way. You need to squeeze from the inside with a buck bar on the rivet head on the outside.

Very informational Brother. I now have a better notion of the difficulty level of this build.

You did a great job with this vid. Great tips on headspacing for sure.

@Yankeeprepper I Second Yankeepreppers opinion.

OOne question are you going to use a new barrel or use the one in the kit ??if your going to use the one in the kit why did you take is out ???

@thepolarpandabear
The barrel gets removed so you can rivet the front trunnion in.

Nice kit! Have you ever bent your own flat?

@makun16
Yes, I've bent my own flats before. I've made a jig from plans I found on the net and it works great.
