  • @AmericanPrincess109 aw that's a brightner on my day, :D I listened to either Black sails The Art of Drowning or Sing The Sorrow before school, nothing better to inspire you and put you in the mood to learn lol. high school really does get better. you'll be fine, I always got shit for listening to these guys but it never got me down

  • aw yeah this is the band that got me through high school, glad thats all behind me now.

  • this has gotta be what 92, 93.

  • two fucken thumbs up to whoever posted this!!! been listenin to them for 11 years!! this is a gr8 video.. so raw!!!

  • i fucken wish i was there!!!!!!! afi old skoo and new but old skoo is better!!! example!!

  • When they're so hardcore everybody loves them! When they show a different more mature, sensitive side suddenly haters appear oO People are really fucked up.

  • @Maxush What? Most hardcore fans like it because it's fast, fun and aggressive. Is it so surprising that those people don't like music that's the complete opposite of that? Jeez..

  • awesome song and Davey is bleepin sexy there :]

  • Man davey was getting picked on hardcore. What a geek. haha. Great performance!!

  • Fuckin Awesome!!! This is when it all started for me back in the day.. I've seen AFI over 20 times from 1995 to 2002. Brings back alot of memories :)

  • Chalk full of win I say. "I can't breath, I got a bag on my head" haha.

  • Lol.. The person who disliked this really didn't like records apparently. XD Or possibly brownie bottom sundaes?

  • FUCK the 1 person that dislikes this...

    This is amazing, it's AFI

  • How cool is that?!?!

  • my god their bassist looks old :) I'm not well acquainted with this line up, is that Geoff? or is that their guitarist :D

  • @MrMurder1733 yeah that's geoff kresge...

    he went onto FoRbiddeN DiMeNSiON...

    ( i ThiNk i may post their FuRST EP - Waaay PRe-Geoff )

then mainly PLaY'd UPRiGhT /w/ TiGeR ARMy...

  • @yoosernem dont forget then broke with TIger Army and joined Viva Hate.

  • @yoosernem dude please help me out, is or is that not Skinhead Rob playing guitar for AFI?! i knew he was a roadie for them during this time and it looks JUST like him if it isnt.

  • @excommunication1 No, it's Mark.

  • AFI RULES, afi is so awesome.

  • this afi is the afi i really know.

  • wow, they used to be good

  • LOVE THESE GUYS :)

  • Old school punk AFI! love it

  • amazing! too bad he can't sing this song anymore... the last time he tried it sounded like complete shit.

Soooo hardcoreeee! Go back to hardcore AFI frig, you were one band that was actually good at it.

  • Why cant AFI go back to being hardcore and get geoff back from horrorpops boo urns

  • Oh what I would give to travel back in time and be at this show....

  • can't breathe..got a bag on my head. lol

  • I didn't know B.J novak was in AFI

  • Best song.

    What the fuck happened?

  • They were the greatest band in the whole world untill the art of drowning thats exactly when they changed.

  • Art of drowning is probably their best album. in my humble opinion. (black sails close second)

you've got to consider that they probably got older, and a whole lot of angst that comes with being young just lifted. hense the change.

  • @RadiatingEyesSuck That is the newbie AFI fan answer. Anyone who really knows AFI will tell you that their lyrics were way more meaningful then than now. Plus, their music had way more impact.

  • davey looks like hes fucking 12, lol!

  • What. Happened?

this video depresses me. Because you see this, think it rules, then a week later you see them now on MTV and just think what the fuck happened to them

  • =/ yah...

I like both AFI's they're different... but when I try to make the connection between the old AFI and the new one... it kinda depresses me too... like they're never comming back and stuff D:

    but it's k.

  • @xDoppleganger76x Explain to me how that is "ok"? lol

I seem to be missing the real point. xD

  • @xDoppleganger76x damn same here theyre both good but they dnt have tht edge they had and im afraid i wont c em before they stop the old school sets in the shows!!! or even just stop period!

  • @obscurepath41 heh heh Try living in New Zealand they only time I remember them coming was 2006 and they only played one show in a city too far away for me to go to on my own, apparently fourteen was too young lol :)

  • @TheDespairFactor6 damn that sux... im afraid im not gona see them play at all now that theyre at this state.... sorry for not replyin sooner didnt log on for a while... haha so u still in new zealand??

  • @TheDespairFactor6 damn that sux... im afraid im not gona see them play at all now that theyre at this state.... sorry for not replyin sooner didnt log on for a while... haha so u still in new zealand?

  • @TheDespairFactor6 damn that sux.. im kinda dissapointed im not gona get to see them.. i dnt think theyre gona play at the state theyre in.... looks like the endin of theyre music... :/ u still in new zealand?

  • @obscurepath41 Indeed I am still in New Zealand. and I would tend to agree with you on the music point, I won't be holding my breath on ever seeing them. :(

  • @TheDespairFactor6 yup... they lost theyre fire and pain just like most bands, usually theyre subjected to it wen they reach a global audience. they rather have positive or more soothing mssgs or tunes for everyone to hear... :/ not always bad but not as good as the beginning..

  • @obscurepath41 no it isn't quite as good, but I still listen to them and I think I always will they've gotten me through some tough times, :) and I think you're right about them losing their fire, they just don't have the same kick they used to. when I first heard medicate, I almost mistook them for another band :P

  • @TheDespairFactor6 HAHA.. EVERY TIME I HEARD A NEW SONG ON THE RADIO I KNOW IT WAS JADES GUITAR AND DAVEYS VOICE.. I MISTAKED TIGER ARMYS GUITAR FOR AFI'S ON THE SONG FOR EVER FADES AWAY.. THEY PLAY SAME NOTES THAT JADE DOES WITH ALMOST SAME DISTORTION ON THAT TRACK... BUT I CAN RELATE TILL THIS DAY WHEN IM TROUBLED, PUTTIN ON THEYRE SONGS HELP ME CLEAR ME HEAD OUT..

  • I love this song

  • so good.

  • Where've you gone?

  • Comment removed

  • back when afi was a hardcore band...ahhh........and geoff was in the band!

  • HAHA actually im 16. Ive yet to hear that slang tho

  • im seeing them tonight!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw them back when they were dope. For this i am glad

  • dope?

  • yeah dope. What are you 50?

Back when they were more passion less fashion.

  • man i miss them like this... :( but i still love them and i'm sure i always will.

  • I mean how would you feel if you went to a Metallica show and they didnt play any old songs? I know I'd be pretty fucking pissed.

  • They all also seemed very depressed

  • whaaat? this was the greatest time of their life, they were young, their music wasn't mainstream and although they weren't really making that much money they were making fans and kick ass songs

  • They used to want to play loud :(

Now they just wanna be soft.

I saw them live last week btw. I was a sad, sad man.

  • You thought so? I saw them last night it got pretty intense.

  • Not the concert I went to. None of them looked like they wanted to be there especially Jade.

  • Hmmmm when did you see them? They we're really energetic I mean Jade never really smiled but was up beat, Davey front flipped in to the crowed and we carried him. Hunter and Adam were awesome.

  • I saw them in Clifton Park on October 8th. Yeah it was pretty boring they didnt do any of tht stuff u were talking about they just pretty much stood there and played. Before the encore we all shouted "THROUGH OUR BLEEDING WE ARE ONE" and I know AFI heard it but they didnt say anything about it or really seem to care. Through out the show some people shouted for them to play like halloween or this song and they just ignored us. It seemed they were just there for their paycheck.

  • OMFG

    WAS THIS THE BOSTON CONCERT?

Because Davey front flipped into the crowd, and I was like, "FUCK, why didn't I go into the pit?" LOLZ

And then apparently somebody was trying to steal his shoes!? Lol, how rude...

  • Ya the guy like 5 people next to me tried to steal his shoe. It was one of the best concerts I've seen,

  • Lol, I was like, how rude of that dude. It's probably custom made from NON ANIMAL PRODUCTS, since he's a vegan. Hard to get. SO YEAH, people shouldn't try taking Davey's shoes.

Luckily Smith saved both Davey and his shoes.

  • Smith's 10 foot long jump was the absolute funniest part of the concert. Both of them.

  • @Jazagainsthemachine: I know!

I'm so jealous of those in the crowd... although I did see Smith pop out of the door leading to the stage, and I felt like glomping him. Haha, he's so funny.

I though for a minute the crowd was going to steal Davey! My exact thoughts were, "He's going to be violated!" Lol.

  • umm... great

  • Answer that and Stay Fashionable and Shut your eyes and open your Mouth.

  • what happend to you dude

  • i agree out of all their albums DU was my least favorite but they were all awesome especially their older stuff

  • I like their old stuff and their new music. 1999-2003 was my favourite, and DU was probably my least favorite album, but I really do appreciate all their music. You can't expect a person, let alone an entire band, to stay the same for eighteen years. I will always love AFI, no matter what they put out.

That being said, this is badass. xD

  • i prefer this over the original on the album

  • lol i don't think davey knew at this point just how famous he was gonna get i love all their stuff but they should have stayed with this they might not have been as famous but they sure would have had quality over quantity

  • yea shut your mouth and open your eyes and very proud of ya were my favs

  • This is the real AFI

  • Answer that and stay Fashionable great album and Shut your eyes and open your mouth i think its called is also a great album

  • Fuck all new AFI fans. I know I sound like a bigot, but they were much better before they went all emo. Could have been a really great, timeless harcore group. Stopped buying the albums by Singing My Sadness. Loved their shit around 97-98, had me bouncing off the walls.

    i luvz DaVey! he co kewl nn h0t lolz:P GOTH 4eva :D:D

Their music can become different, but it didn't have to become shit now did it?

  • i agree 100%

  • i luv davey hes soooo cute

  • i miss his voice like this.. but its not there fault, voices change. And so do music syles. Do u DU haters really want afi to keep doing the entirley same stuff over and over again?

  • This is the AFI I love if u think the new AFI is better than this FLAG ME DOWN AND CALL ME A DOUCHE but Im just tellin the truth

  • I hear ya dude...shut your mouth and open your eyes was the last cd i bought

  • "can't breath... got a bag over mah head..."

Adam's drumming is really nice in this video.

I actually enjoyed that whole thing.

  • except that poor Davey keeps getting accosted by that other kid :c

  • priceless <3

  • Comment removed

  • that guy has an ''answer that and stay fashionable'' shirt, i want one sooooooo bad

  • WTF happened to them?

  • they got old and slow

  • Lord Jesus....

    Davey's hair.....

  • feeling kinda trap I've gotta go!

feeling kinda trap don't you know!

  • damn...i wanna spin the timewheel back to `95... AFI FUCKING RULES!!!!!!

  • i'm with you man..

  • wow this is pretty old it was made almost before i was born--yeah those were the days but afi is still good now- wow i've never heard of rockin' rex until now --hey dave had like yellow hair back then

  • sexy dave :)

  • Pleeease upload the rest of this!

  • WOW ROCKINREX.....MEMORIES

    never knew they played there

do you by any chance have this whole show.....and the stressboy complete?????

  • du i kno yu?

  • AFI is still freakin awesome- u guys need to stop bs-ing and get on with life as it moves foward. i think these days were great but these guys are so much more mature and experienced now...btw wish i was there for this. would love to be able to say, 'i saw this band playing in a small shop waitnig for their day to be big...'

  • Then why the hell am i still rocking out to brownie bottom sundae, and not their new shit? Answer that and stay fashionable. Fuck off

  • one of their good albums ^^^^

  • gotta be one of the best comments i''v ever read keep on rocking

  • thats the good staff

  • Man I miss the 90's.

"can't breathe, there's a bag on my head..." haha

  • ahh the good ol days

  • omfg where did u get this???!!!

    its so amazing

    XD

  • Playing a show in a fucking t-shirt shop... That's how punk they were!

    AFI FTW!!!!

  • um... 'back in the day'...

    those things on th' WaLL...

    were called 'ReCoRds'...

  • chill the fuck out, i thought it was a clothing store

  • lol im sorry but this whole conversation was funny lol

"chill the fuck out, i thought it was a clothing store " hahaha nice!

  • ah i think i see some shirts up above, but what eva hhahahaha yea what the fuck happened to this band?

  • this is why i love punk.

  • haha!

davey: can't breath...got a bag on my head.

  • amazing performance

  • I've never seen this before LOL this is awesome

  • What kind of bass is Geoff playing?

    -DCV-

  • Well i think Davey couldnt keep up with this kind of singing because his voice got messed up, i thinnk he ripped his vocal cords or got a cist and had to get it operated and he cant sign like that or he will make his voice even worse thats why he rarely screams nowadays and when he does it sound bad and forced

  • afi has changed so much but i still love them. This is wicked right here though.

  • its like a completely different band

  • ah back before they turned to shit and went all fruity and "trendy"

  • its hard to believe this is afi... i love everything they have ever put out...but this is so sick!!!

  • Ale Szczeniak!

  • this is so fucking awesome

  • I love AFI. They sounded great then and they sound great now!!! hehehe. (and they are not emo) People you need to listen with your heart!!!!!!!!!! =)

  • if you want to know it like it is see the post of cyanidedeath anything else your kiddin yourself they have been castrated

  • I agree with this post. When most people think of AFI they think of the DU era. and that is why they won't give them a try. Why doesn't the band know they created something horrible. When I show people other stuff than DU they seem to really like it and always ask "what happened?!" lol

  • They didn't really sell out since they told everyone in an interview that they don't want the same sound record after record. They go for new things every time they sit down to write a song. I love the old A.F.I and I love the new A.F.I plus they didn't just love the Punk genre, they were and still are into every kind of music.

  • Yes, exactly. I'm glad to see that someone else has an IQ over 10.

  • I am agree...I mean an artist can`t make the same thing over and over again...I mean not offense but that is what`s happening to heavy metal bands...u really can`t tell how much they grow up because is like listening the same record over and over again...VIVA AFI!

  • Well if that's true I sure hope the new album doesn't sound like Dec. Underground.

  • a la gaver, pretty fucking awesome

  • not to mention, davey blew out his vocals twice. he CANT "fall children" esqe stuff anymore

  • back when they were fucking cool. That sucks how davie one day was like..."hey i like the emo scream better. I'm gonna start doing that cause its cool!"

  • amen to that

  • amazing. AFI, TRUE punk rock...well not anymore but...yeah

  • its funny how u ppl think they changed their style because they werent making enough money, i saw an interview and they said that they were simply bored of playing punk.

  • EXACTLY.

  • I'm all for bands trying new stuff, but i think they took a turn for the worst.

  • awesome.

  • xstraightupx needs to chill. They were a great fucken band then, thats why the got big. Their sound changed, fuck it; its their sound. Sing the Sorrow was wayy different than anything previous, that doesn't mean it was a bad album.

  • xstraightupx - Bands grow up and progress to new things. Get the fuck over it.

  • i hate all you ppl who say afi is gay hate u all

    btw GREAT song

  • the band got real gay. they were first called asking for it not a fire inside. and they also use to claim edge whatever happened to them being a "punk" influenced band flew out the window when davey started blowing dudes

  • davey was just as influenced by alt. by that im talking about The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, David Bowie, Queen, Bauhaus...

  • so this is the bands reason for turning gay? they were a punk band not an alt band i know of many punk bands that are influenced by a wide array of music. theres no reason for the bands change to alternative other than selling out

  • so your saying any band that turns to alternative music is selling out...

  • most do look at u2 i hate that band but its a perfect example. im not generalizing but any band that strays from their original sound for publicity as would seem is af's case would be considered a sell out in my book

  • whoever said they did it for publicity

  • why else would they do it? look at the difference between sales then and now i went to a show in 2001 in sf and it was 10 bucks to get in now their shows cap at 25 minimum. plus they switched from nitro to dreamworks whats up with that nitro never did them wrong?

  • whats sells matter, they make music for fun, and they make the kind of music they want. well dude they arent a local small band anymore, you cant go to a NIN show for 10 bucks, u cant go to a cure show for 10 bucks, theyre more popular than ever. and also, nitro is a punk lable, and AFI just isnt that anymore.

  • any band that decides to forget where theyre from any band that wont cover previous albums at a show any band that over charges for a show any band that changes sound without staing true to their underground form yes is a sell out

  • your ignorance amazes (sp?) me...

  • lol your spelling is correct but what about my statement is ignorant? i understand it may be a little harsh but thats my passioin i loved that stupid band lol and i know a lot of the old school fans would agree with me its just a sad ordeal to see such an influental band kinda stray from what they originally were

  • do u think if they were still punk and they did blaqk audio they would be selling out? that seems ignortant

  • havent heard black audio heard its a techno new wave mix which isnt asking for it's sound so yes if thets the case

  • well they can't just do the same things over and over if its not them anymore. if they right a more alternative song instead of a punk song theyre just doing what they want and im pretty glad they matured like this and dont listen to the fans. old and new AFI for life.

  • true it just irritates me that they play nothing from their first 4 albums which just so happen to be from their punk era, and its not because they signed to a different label. i looked into it and sing the sorrow was their first album with dreamworks yet they are allowed to play songs from before that album such as days of the phoenix and the boy who destroyed so why dont they play songs from their roots?

  • Because most people don't want to hear that, (not saying me saying most people) besides if you've listened to them when they first came out you had your chance, maddona does the same thing, she forgets all of her old songs (except the big hits) and nobody complains, because they've grown up or are to young to care about the old stuff

  • but eh, people have their differences, i dont think this one can be settled bro.

  • Its not very punk of you to make homophobic comments so you should go fuck yourself

  • when did i say i was punk? idiot check your source before you start talking

  • a fire insideeeee

  • I feel that they have matured, and eventhough I'm an STS era fan I'm more in love with the old stuff. but they won't redo it, they have ti evolve. I hope the new album is better than DU

  • they dont HAVE TO evolve. Its not a rule or anything...=\

  • haha "I can't breath I have a bag on my head." hahaha, perfect. this is a great song!
