  • Jaimie's a Simpsons fan~

    /watch?v=il8Q5ZoJELQ#t=3s

    Awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • youre canadian? i thought soo!! explains alot about how cool you are... if i am wrong .. lol my bad!!! but still, I live in toronto!

  • Dear Jaimie... WHY THE F*CK ARE YOU SO AWESOME? oh right, you are canadian :D

  • "Why are you washing your hands?"

"Cos they have some dirt on them"

    "Whys that?"

"Cos they have some dirt on them"

    "Ohh, very exciting stuff"

  • It's not a Mickey Mouse T-Shirt, its just ROBO DIRT!!

  • I love how you describe everything you're going to do with sound effects.

  • HELL YEAH FASTENAL RUUUUUUUULES

  • hahahaha "ROBO DIRT"

these videos are making history, Jaime

teachers will tell students to watch you

i imagine they'll make your story into a movie at some point in the future

  • you are so dedicated........ bravo sir, bravo!

  • Im kinda surprised that you didn't build your own generator

  • Dude, if you lived anywhere near me, I'd be glad to plasma cut anything you need at no cost - just because you're so damn cool. Keep up the good work!

  • Just be carefull when working with the grinder so close to open skin, this past summer i cut my hand open with a grinder, didnt think it would ever happen because i normally work safely, have a nice scar on my hand15mm by 3.5 mm, could have been worst, like have have a hand left, so Jamie, please man we like you, just watch it with the grinder, peace

  • HAHAHA i spit out my soda cause i laughed so hard at the end haha!

  • heh heh. sticky keyboard.

  • and I thought I had trouble in Shop class...had to cut half-inch slots into three solid aluminium bells....

I had to do it with a hacksaw, cause of the odd shape. I kept my sanity purely through my Ipod Shuffle. this is the only reason I like Apple :P took me nearly seven hours to do all three...

I can only imagine what it was like cutting those edges off. even with an angle-grinder and shears...

  • ya.... I've gotten really good at tedious things.

  • I'm alright with tedium :P music gives me rhythm and something to take my mind off it and let my muscles do the work. I get tired less easily too... and the individidual tracks give a sense of time passing. like, one song is 3 - 5 minutes long. I noticed in some vids you had earphones on, blasting music :) I assume you do something similar.

  • I'm going through all your videos from start to finish and I nearly commented on your video where you made the aluminium rails to tell you to use steel but then I realised it was in the past and completely pointless. I'll get caught up then my comments will be only slightly in the past :)

  • heh heh. yep. I don't really explain everything I'm thinking. Some of the things I do are temporary place holders so I can get other things done. .....so I can come back when I get the materials I need. :-P

  • you ' re girl friend is a sweet heart and real cool to hang with you when your in mad science mode build on man... and remember how many people get to build shit without pressures let alone for unique experiences ... you'll appreciate this when your OLD

  • you kidding? I appreciate it now!

...and who says I'll get old!

  • Mad Science is an art of may disciplines. Why not horticulture? Giant Meat-Eating Flowers would be an impressive addition to building-leveling giant robots.

  • well, I don't plan on levelling buildings. I'm a creator, not a destroyer. There are enough destructive people around already. :-P

I do like plants, though! mmmm... they can be tasty

  • "an ya know, hai!" I played that a few times and it was funny. :P

  • "That's where I'm going to WASH OFF MY ROBO DIRT!!"

  • 'have been putting flowers in front of my GIANT ROBOT BUILDING!'

  • I just watched all your other videos up til this one in some kind of awesome feature length D.I.Y robot video.

I have never been more captivated by a man with power tools and crazy hair in my life

    YOU'RE AWESOME.

maybe one day you could help me build a cabin in the woods too and we could be neighbors.... ur gonna need SOMEone to battle ur robot with :)

also i was wondering if you had plans to mount any kind of water guns on the finished product :) maybe even a speaker system for epic music?

  • Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. :-)

hmm... waterguns.... maybe. Really, though, I'm pretty focussed on getting it to work. After that I can breath a huge sigh of relief, and think about lasers. ha ha

  • I am also watching all the videos through! :D I totally agree.

  • wish my parents had your since of humor

  • ha ha. Bad parents! Bad! Oh. If they don't have a sense of humor, don't let them see that. :-P

  • omg guy u got 2 left hand...

  • wha???

  • 4:00 more wheel grinder

  • heh heh. ya.

  • Glad to see that SOMEONE is getting productive work on their giant insect vehicle.

More than I can say for myself...

  • ohh.... no.... get to work! ha! Now I get to say it! Everyone's been harping on my for months. :-P

  • Flowers!?!

That is a factory, not a coffin! Things get born in their, not die!!!

  • Ya... thinks like flowers apparently! :-P

  • ...you may have to use thicker flat steel material on your tracks, they may have to be thicker then the steel flats you're going to attach to your assembly, your aluminum may not handle the stress the steel is going to produce, any bend your steel strapping will develope will definitely transfer to your aluminum structure and may cause your AL flats to cave in between welded supports. I don't want to be a harbinger of doom, I just want to lend some help , to support your giant robot build.

  • I don't think it's a good I dea to use steel flats on aluminum bracing, it's usualy the other way around or using thicker stronger aluminum (like 7075 AL or aircraft grade AL). You not aware of the grade of aluminum you're using, right? Well, if it's weldable, then you may have the 606x grades (the biking industry uses this in their light frame bikes) which may prove to be a sound choice, 7075 AL isn't weldable.

  • I would've thought a very resourceful person such as yourself would built a few sa horses and a few more clamps to hold your robot pieces while you modify it, it is bad practice to use a powered hand tool (hand grinder) the way you did in your vid. You coul've accidently dropped it on your leg! We don't want our hero getting hurt now. You need to finish that robot.

  • Damn, dude. I've already dropped the grinder on my leg. Its in one of the early robot videos. ha ha.

...and I think I need to make a decree. ....that all persons who think I'm building my giant robot all wrong should make their own giant robot and show me how its done. :-) Ya ya, I learn from seeing much better than lecturing.

Ha ha, that wasn't too snarky, was it? :-P

  • No, no...I won't take it as being snarky, you're just a creative, resourceful person who doesn't appreciate people breathing down your neck, which is quite understandable but we would like you to be careful also, if anything were to happen, what would be the reason to tune into youtube if you and you're robot, god forbid, weren't? but we are here to also lend some help...just putting out there, dude.

  • ha ha. thanks. Ya, I don't want to get smooshed either. ....but if I do, I hope I get it on camera!

  • Some one get this man a nibbler!

  • nibbler? Whats that!!! whats that!!!!

  • Oh wait... thats the sheet metal nibbling thingy. OH! ya ya, I need that. :-)

  • I like how Jaime wears the ear protection. It sets a good example for everyone.

  • Well, thank you! Finally someone appreciating my safety efforts instead of getting on my case about my non-safety efforts. :-P

  • Nice carpet! See, it was worth dragging it up the mountain in the snow. And you thought there might be no use for it- pish, tosh!

So, let me get this straight. You spread hot pepper throughout the whole building where my bum house with my sleeping bag is, to keep the mice out. Or, if you didn't hot pepper the sleeping bag, the mice have now all been driven into it by the hot pepper.... :P

  • uhh.... you serious? You really think I was going to drag that carpet up and not use it???? Now you're being downright silly. :-P

Yes. your sleeping bag is now mouse central. err... i hope not.

  • Great Robot project part ! the best 1 yet to be honest :P! I hope the next video you submit will be soon, you had quiet a space between 22 and 21. By the way, you didn't tell us how you got that water run!

  • Ya, sorry 'bout the delay. Now that I'm starting to work on the robot, I should start accelerating production as I get things more set up. :-)

  • cute girl is she your robot girl :0)

  • heh heh. Ya, i wish she had an off switch! haa haa haa haa haa!! oh... oops. just kidding.

  • Oooh, you are in SUCH trouble now! :D

  • ok so nothing to say one way or the other about awesome robot projects, however I'm curious about your internet connection. What do u do? i have been toying with the idea of tethering my phone (60$) a month to my already 100$ cell bill. or seeing if i can get a satellite out in the desert! presumably better connection for 80$ a month/ we will be 7 miles from the nearest "town" of 273 people and 25 mi. from Holbrooks 5126 peeps and 30 mi. away from the mega town of Winslow,az at 9,931.

  • Actualy I have no internet at home. Supposedly I can get satellite for 60$ a month, or could get the cell phone company internet thingy. I get phone reception.

I don't really want internet at home, though. I don't want to waste time sitting in front of a screen. :-P

  • OH.......so how do u net? freinds and fam in the area?

  • don't you have 3g in the us? We are able to get mobile internet through the mobile network and we live in the desolate woods in Sweden... But if you don't want to, I totally understand, since it tends to take a lot of time =).

  • We do indeed have 3G, however only in the larger cities at this point. So if i use my phone as a modem it will take longer to load pages, which may be annoying. I am leaning towards satellite at this point.

  • it also costs. 60$ per month. I don't want to use the internet enough to make that worth it.

but, yes.... we have that here

  • There are loads of wireless signals in town a mile away. library, law school, restaurants, etc...

  • well u are lucky in that regard. we will be miles from anything like that perhaps flagstaff 80 miles away. btw, can't help get in on your "flactuate" conversation. no c, you see! flatulate means fart - anyway fun chatting with u. we will be leaving end of the month after i sell the last of my earthly possesions or 98% anyway. scary and exhilerating all at the same time!

  • OOOOHHH, right! Thats it. flatulate. heh heh. I thought something looked wrong. :-P

  • Contd decent coverage with at&t, but no cable and since our abode will be a tent at first its' unlikely i could get a cable company to hook us up anyway! so again what solutions did u find and thanks in advance. deborah - who is now on her own "side" of the computer and curiously not looking up porn - hmm - who said that?! Wyatt is safe from my cursed incorrect typing! teh! <3

  • what are you doing out there?

  • Wyatt has 5 acres out there and we are going to live on it; so off grid obviously. and trying to figure out how best to get net, as we are accustomed to doing. i learn a lot online so usually don't consider that a waste of my time, also stay in touch with freinds and fam so... just assumed u were online at home too.

  • thanks!

  • I DO THE SAME THING ON THE TRAMPOLINE!

  • ya. trampolines are pretty fun. :-) apparently good for bringing out evil laughs too

  • you guys are awesome! keep it up

  • thanks! I'll do my best. :-)

  • if you ever get that stuff in your eye's the only thing that will wash it out is milk.

    just a tip for you

  • Allright!!! More robot vid!!! Keep going!!!

Yeah, that is the wildest looking generator I ever did see. Is it Swiss or something?

Mice. Good luck stopping them. It took me 10 years to figure out how to keep them out of my cabin. Holes. It has something to do with holes. Hint: mice do not like chewing through metal. They'll do it, but they really don't like it. Steel wool.

    Purty flowers, BTW. Hee hee.

  • its a Yamaha. Its one of the really efficient quiet ones. It throttles to match the load, so uses less gas.

Ya.... I don't have the workshop closed up yet, so I can't physically keep the mice out.

  • You made your woman and your mice cry....

  • I don't make anyone cry! ...kinda...

  • ... something's wrong with the comments apparantly...

anyways, I love your project Jaimie and had you been a boring emotionally challenged scientist I wouldn't have been nowhere as psyched about this ^^ keep up that cheerful attitude! :D

  • hmm... comment errors, eh? Thats a new one for youtube. not. :-P

Thanks! Ya, I figure if I'm not having fun, it probably isn't worth doing. :-)

  • fuck yeah, updates!

  • hey, ive watched all your vids(not really lol just kinda sweeped through some of them :P) and i think your freaking awesome. Ive always been the creative one in my family and the thought of making a giant robot makes me eccentric.

keep up the good work and remember im with you all the way (subbed :D)

  • Thanks! Ya, I'm a bit of an oddball in my family too.

  • lol your lovely evil assistant made your banana building pretty =)

Oh, and that's what you get for not doing a stress analysis on that aluminum first =P

  • Did you just "Thats what you get" me? I flactulate in your direction. :-P

  • What dous flactulate mean? The closest I could find in any dictionary was lactate, but I suppose that wasn't what you were reffering to ;)

  • remove the c, jamie either mis-spelled or mis-typed

  • oh, I may have typed it wrong, or maybe its just not in there because of the meaning of the word... flactulate means fart. gasses puffing out of your bum bum.

  • Note to self: I thought I heard a train in the background. Find train tracks on Google Earth and attempt to locate Jamie's secret fortress, so I can go stalk him and see his awesome place. ;-)

  • ohh... ya. I made a recording of trains. ....to throw people off. My place is actually 2000 miles from the nearest train.

  • Careful grinding aluminum with that angle cutter. I don't know if you're aware but if you grind aluminum with a steel grinding wheel it can load up and explode! You can get cut-off wheels for that grinder, they cut through aluminum and steel like butter.

  • err.... I was using a cut-off wheel, except when i was grinding the edges.. ..and yes, the aluminium melts itself to the wheels and can build up. I chip it off if it gets too clumpy

  • lol, loud tools.

  • ya... they are loud. argh

  • Oh sorry i forgot to say great job. Its awsome how much progress your making.

  • oh thanks! for a second, I thought I was in trouble for doing it wrong again or something. :-P

  • Dude why dident you buy a cutting blase for your grinder at lowes it would have worked awsome. Oh and are those screws aluminum or steel? aluminum might not be able to hold up on your track sections like steel bolts.

  • They're steel.

...and I didn't buy a cutting base because I have no need for one.

  • They make these things, I don't know if yall have them up there yet, called cats. It's what we use for mice problems ;)

    Nice G.R.P update

  • oh... ya. Like I want a mouse problem AND a cat problem!

  • You're such a kid at heart, I love it lol.

  • I am not a dik at hea..... oh... kid. oops. Damned dyxlemia

  • Just think of them as RoboFlowers.

  • woo.... good thinking! Roboflowers! Oh reat. Now thatthey're really cool, I have to protect them. Stay away from those roboflowers!

  • Great to see you have done some more progress on that robot! Cool! I hope you won't find it decorated with blossoms some day too! :-)

  • oh... ya... well, I just can't let the elves know which pieces I'm finished welding. otherwise they may be painted. :-P

  • hi man, long time not see, its good to hear you are back in track with your robot , 5/5 ( super )

  • thanks! Ya, I'm pretty psyched too. :-)

  • Should I feel like my intelligence is being insulted when people inform me that gas isn't free???? ha ha. Oh geez... Oh, and since none of the other stores even had the bolts.... I'm pretty sure I got the best price.

I combine trips too. I don't drive somewhere just to get bolts. i'll wait 'till I'm going there anyway, ot until I need lots of stuff.

  • rofl..you crack me up dude...thanks fer the update, I can sleep now O.O

  • oh, excellent. err... sorry to keep you awake waiting for like 2 weeks. ha ha.

  • Everyone knows that everything sounds cool if you put "Robo" in front of it :3

    even numbers :B , I mean... "RoboTwo" 8D

finally some updates :3 , keep it up :D

  • ha ha. You're roboright!

    This is roboawesome!

  • Yay!! Giant Robot!!

Loving the (evil?) laugh on the trampoline. :D

Are you adding nuts on the ends of those bolts aswell? or leaving them just screwed into the frame?

  • I did get nuts and washers just incase, but the bolts are threaded into 1/4'' of aluminium total, and are holding in there pretty solid.

  • Trambampolines are awsome my 4 dogs sleep on my Trambampoline, i like to go out there and look at the stars,. ear protection is a good idea, one time at work, i for got mine and my boss, made me brush hog 10 acres and the tractor had no moffiler now i can't hear so good

  • aw geez, dude! Don't blow out your ears!

  • Fancy looking generator!

  • ya. Its the expensive extra efficient one. I figured I should spring for the good one and save gas in the long run. It'll last a long time.

  • I think your slave planted some nice flowers.

We have a saying in sweden wich goes: - bakom varje ond vetenskapsman står en trevlig kvinna som planterar blommor och allt möjligt.

  • befhind every mad scientist there's a woman who plants blossoms? ....is that roughly it?

    :-P

Ya, its kinda cool that she put 'em in. :-)

  • Robowoot! yes that's exactly it!! haha have u been learning swedish or are you cheating somehow lol? xD

  • oh.... I cheated! I admit it. the internet is great for such things. :-) I bet I could learn Swedish fast, though, if a cute swedish girl was teaching me. :-P

  • I'll speak to my female-friend, Karro. Shes awsome cute. ;D

    untill then:

I am - jag är [jawg air]

I've got - jag har [jawg haur]

I want - jag vill ha [Jawg will hau]

  • ha ha. cool. Does she only speak swedish? :-) ok ok, either way, I'll try to learn... I mean

    jag vill ha "to learn".

  • jag tror inte han kan svenska tyvärr ;)

  • haha, han svarade, han förstod det tydligen.

  • Jag inte gör det tala Svensk

  • Jag inte gör det tala Svensk

  • Yah I bet, winter is for sure my favorite season...

  • oh ya? You live in the tropics or something? :-P Just kidding. Actually, I like snow a lot too.

  • the first thing u picked up was the robot leg

  • it's sweet seeing another video! Spring looks GREAT in Vermont... and yah, Fastenals are awesome!

    Keep up the good work!

  • Ya, I love the spring! Winter will be even cooler this ear too, when I get the place insulated!

  • i love your vids man and how its only got about a 100 views but already 11 text comments, you have some loyal followers man ;)

  • You can make a really easy mouse trap like this:

Get a bucket and cover the insides with oil or anything greasy that lowers friction

Put cheese or anything into the bucket

Put a pole or something onto a edge of the bucket

The mices will climb in the bucket by the pole and fall inside, but won't be able to get out.

It's a great way to catch live mice: try roasting them, they are really tasty!

Watch out though, make sure the bucket is heavy or stable enought so the rat can't tip it over.

  • "They are really tasty!"... really man? I am a little disturbed right now...

  • I do something similar sometimes. ...leave an easy to get into 5 gallon bucket sitting around with a blob or peanut butter smeared on the inside. heh heh.

  • Heeey, you are not wearing your chainmail! :-)

btw, do you know "fat man and circuit girl"? I just found them the other day, they are a bit nerdy, like you (in the cool way!).

  • I was wearing my chainmail some of the time... dont't want to on the trampoline, though.... and don't want wrist chains when grinders are going. :-P

I don't know fat man and circuit girl!

  • Nice, looking good, The end was funny!

  • thanks! Ya... You have a screwed up sense of humour like me. :-)

  • damm this is exiting ...maybe this season i will go to usa but no to the north damm it would be great to help with something maybe next time by the way congrats for the progres with the robot!

  • Thanks! Have you been to the US many times before?

I've never been to South America.

  • yes 5 times but never to vermont only the east cost...where have you been?

  • I've been all over the east coast of North America. (Canada and the US), England, France, California once, and not much else.

  • Uh, dude... have you forgotten Alaska already?

  • wait, what happened in Aslaska? Was there a mouse incident? I can't remember..... I'm missing something

  • Awesome to see Giant Robot work again, looks like it's going great. And cool flowers in front of the banana building. (did I just say that?)

Looks like you've been busy, keep havin' fun!

  • ya. now i have to be all careful of where my robot steps! :-P

It is going pretty well. I like working in the forest a lot!

  • aw crap, dude! Thats terrible! ...and kinda nerdy. :-P

    I like badminton too. shhh....

  • Nerdy? How do you know it wasn't extreme Badminton? :-)

  • haa haa. Thats like even nerdier! ...but I'm into it. :-P

  • you're backkkk! glad to get to see your new vid :)

  • Awh yay I had missed Jaimie videos and I logged on hoping maybe you will have a new one up for my birthday( yeah cause you know that right) and you did so wooh hoo. Trampolines are great but they scare me a little since I discolated my lower leg on one. Couldnt help but smile and laugh when you had cool texan clamps/

  • AUGH! No dislocated leg! ouch! I'm pretty careful. Thats why i don't o flips too often. :-P

Oh, and ya... of course... this was for your birthday. heh heh.

My birthday was on the 3rd. ....of may. I had lots of fun! It was a dome party.

  • Hey well happy birthday to you too. Yep the dislocation happened the first day of a gymnastics training weekend I was at. Tore ligaments and cartilage, it wasn't much fun but my friends wouldn't run get a camera and take a photo of it for me. How cool would a photo of that been.

  • Comment removed

  • holding all the parts while working with your angle grinder, have you ever considered getting a table to work on? :P

  • table? me no know what table. What dat?

  • And a vice?

  • Vice? My no know... what be vice?

  • You were cutting that aluminium piece while holding it on your bare leg? Thats kinda brave.. (:

You can learn cool flips very easily. Just get a spotter or two. Me and my dad helped my brother to do a backflip. He was doing those without any help after half an hour. Don't hesitate to try. (: It feels (and looks) very great.

  • err.... actually, I can do front and back flips.

I guess I didn't answer Dashaina's question very well. ....didn't seem important at the time. :-P

  • Oh. Thats great then. (:

We also have a safety net around the trampoline. It saved me lots of times from getting onto the ground at high speeds. (: And I think from a few broken bones also.

  • aw... safety net shmafety net.

heh heh... famous last words. Geez, my entire life has no safety net!

  • Haha, great i had a trampoline. Maybe a little smaller, but fairly big and i was surprised to see it had blown over my garden and broke due to heavy wind. =[

I guess it was a couple of years old and a little rusty because of that... dam wind.

  • aw, stupid wind! I might stick the trampoline in the banana for the winter. heh heh

  • We have cold winters and rainy autums here in Lithuania. And my trampoline is still ok, sort of. We had to reweld all the junctions. But those newly welded are super strong. And had no problems for the last couble of years.
